My girlfriend's pet just pass away a week ago. She was so sad, and she said that peking dog she had was her best friend. How emotional. That dog certainly was old, and it has been a good companion to her for more than 10 years I guess. Now, she just missed her. Time will heal her wound. Would you be sad if your pet passed away too?

Yes because I think a pet in a way is part of our family because if someone tries to harm me or my family my pet dog would try to defend us and if we were ill or sad she will try to be with us until we were better. We had a dog her name was Chilis and when I was ill or sad she will be in my room until I got better. And when my brother had an accident and had cuts on his face and hands she will try to lick him but he did not like her and pushed her away but she never left him until he got better. After those days that she was with my brother he actually started liking her but one day she got hit by a car and die and everyone in my family cried for her and buried her in our backyard. She was special to us and I think we will always remember her.

Yes I would be so sad if a pet of mine would pass away. Its the mutual relation that they tend to react like a human that makes us feel better, just like a companion. They are like therapist solution to some anxiety, boredom that comes over me and those pets make me forget.

Hi, there is nothing unnatural that your GF was all sad as she had lost her pet. If it were to happen with me even I too would have the same feeling for a pet is like a family member and if it has to perish all of a sudden it causes a shock and that is too obvious.

Its really sad when your pets pass away. I know what it means. I had so many pets and when they passed away I felt awful. About 3 years ago I lost my dog. Her name was Susie and like your girlfriend, I had her for about 10 years. When we got her I was a little child and I feel as if I had grown up with her. You can imagine how sad I was when she did. She meant a lot to me. A pet no matter what animal it is, especially dogs are simply the best companion that a human can have.

it is a very sad time when one loses a pet, I have lost a couple of cats that I adored and each time i say no more, too hard to go through when they die and then another cat comes along and adopts me...now I have a black and white cat, she just came to me and decided to stay...pets are wonderful to have and all we can do is give them the best life we can...

Hello clorissa123 , I have had quite a few pets pass away since I was younger. I think it is like losing a close family member and best friend. It does take time and I still feel sad when I think of them.

Hi Clorissa, I think everyone will be sad if their loved pet passed away, it just how sad they are. I was crying when my little dog passed away. I still talked about it even it left me 4 years now. I think the best way is to let they go and remember it in your heart. They will be happy in heaven.

Hi Clorissa It is only natural to feel sad when you lose your pet - if you have enjoyed your pet's company over the time you have had together, then grief will be a big part of that loss. And, of course, time heals, as you say. I always think of it this way - we rescue all our dogs from Labrador Rescue (and other establishments) in the UK - they all had pretty abysmal lives before we took them home to love them and make them secure again. This is what we give them - but you must look at the bigger picture here - they also give you so much in return. I can't imagine being without our dog - Louis is our current black labrador - he is 8 years old now and enjoying a happy, healthy life, although he is slowing down a bit now. But - he is in the latter part of his life now, and within a few years we will have to say goodbye - of course I will be sad, but I will also be glad for what we were able to give him.
