How long do they fight sleep?

My son is 5 months old. He has had all of 15 minutes of sleep since getting up this morning. He is to say the least, tired and cranky. Going down the list, changed, check. Fed, bottle and rice cereal, double check. Gas, no. all that is left one very tired infant. I am sure he will pass out soon.

Hi ersmommy...We had the same problem with our son. When he was that young we wrapped him in a swaddling blanket. I know that some parents don't recommend it but it was the only way he would go to sleep. However now that he's 11 months old he snuggles with his puppy and goes to sleep on his own. There are still some nights when he cries for a little while but for the most part he just goes to bed after his books now, thank goodness. Good luck with your son!

Hmmmm, kids do that mostly since when they see people up and quirky, they tend to stay up too. I have a cousin of mine, who's about 2 years old and keeps staying up like the adults until 12am since we always stay up that late and wakes up at 7am in the morning, but the good thing is, she always sleep in the afternoon for about a good hour or so. Maybe that's another thing that's keeping her awake.

I know how that is..Has he started crawling or tried to yet? Do you use a walker? Sometimes they can get alot of exercise from them and it makes them go down easier since they wear themselves out. I feel as though I could take a nap myself but supper needs fixing and then I have to get my mail checked.

My daughter always fought sleep. She kept me up for two weeks straight one time. She cried and cried and would not sleep. the doctor said nothing was wrong with her. She was just fighting the sleep.

My daughter now and my son when he was young would always fight sleep. It was horrible. My daughter is still fighting sleep. She will fight it until she actually passes out and cannot stay awake any longer.
