Mylotters! I just read through some of the topics displayed in Mylot NO RESPONSES tab, there are so many of the discussions received zero response, what do you think is the main reason no one respond to discussion? For me, i find it is hard to understand many of the discussion topic due to poor English grammars and syntax, many just do not make sense to me, some are just outright 'childish' and 'senseless'. Please give your honest opinion so those members can improve in getting response from their discussion in the future.

i think the main reason why they dont get responses is because what they post they haven't explained properly so others understand it. Also as your saying the english is poor and also the topic just doesn't appeal to others. They should think about what interests others and not just themselvess.

Yes. It is important to start a discussion that interest others not own self only, then only it will become interesting to other members. Thank for your response. Happy mylotting!

there are several reasons on this problom. without appropriate tags ,no attractive topics ,the content designated are meaningless,I think they are the main reasons why they received less responses .

Hi lampar, The reason behind it is,there are lot of discussion which are been repeated and many of mylotters are not interested to reply the same discussion again and again.Sometimes even i couldn't understand what they are able to express in their discussion.Because of these reasons i hope they might be plenty of "noresponse" discussion in mylot site.I advise all the mylotters to think well and start a discusssion in such a way that everybody would be attracted with it than there won't be any no response discussion tab in the mylot site at all. Have a nice day

I go every day many times to the no reponses discussions and respond on many of them. I very oft4en meet the new users by doing it too. I think the reason that there are so many is becuase users think that it is more important to start new ones rather than respond on the ones already started

Many new member probably thinking this way you described, start new discussion got pay more than just posting response, so end up not many of them want to respond but only start discussion topic whenever they are logged into Mylot! Thank for your response n happy mylotting!

well, probably the discussions were not enticing enough. That's the only rationale that makes sense for me at the moment.

Hmmm... I have been on myLot for almost a month now but I haven't even tried checking the 'No Responses' tab! In my opinion, maybe other people just couldn't relate to those discussions or maybe they're just not that interested about the main topic of the discussion.

Well there are a lot of reasons why the discussions does not have response. In some cases, the members online may find it hard to reply considering the topic is not fitting for them. Sometimes, the post are replace right away by other post considering that there are a thousand members of this community. So don't worry about this. This does not mean that the topic is not interesting. Perhaps it's just a matter of timing.

Yes, i think the main reason is that no one can really understand what 's the discussion about, so no way anyone can even respond to it. I try to give a short response to them but many times i just helpless n stare at the discussion without a clue what is that member talking about. Thank for your response.

Plus, if no one else is responding, doesn't that pretty much guarretee a best response for you? Haha. Speaking of which, I need to go take care of that myself right now! Eeks! Thanks for reminding me!

I also have noticed that some of the discussions have not got a single reply. I think the major reason behind it is the breaking of rule. I never reply to a discussion that breaks the rule because then the discussion and all the replies will be deleted and I will not get anything. Another reason for not getting response is that very very poor english. I have encountered some of the discussions whose meaning is not understandable. So if other people will not understand the meaning then how they will reply. I think these are the two prime reasons.

What I notice is that most of these discussions are posted by new members here and think that they can make more money by posting a discussion. Frankly, I see that I don't have the ability to answer such questions: I don't like anywhere in US or India so I don't follow baseball or cricket there and a question about who do you think will win the game... is definitely something I cannot participate in and it also doesn't really require an answer...it's either team A or team B. It's not something that you can chat a lot about or have many different views or ideas! I do check them though, because sometimes there are genuine discussions and they should get an answer... at least for the effort. Oh and I don't like discussions with topics that are repeated all over.

Oh, my you are right... First of all you don't need to be in the USA or in Japan to drive any car, and secondly, what is the point of the question? It could be better if they simply created a survey or an online poll, and got their results there!

Ya, as what you've mentioned i noticed some of the discussions are just merely statements and they're not asking any questions or giving any direction to the readers. How are we going to comment on those kind of topics? Besides, i believe another reason for no responses is due to the sentences or grammar mistakes in the discussion's description. Some of them are really hard to understand. As for me, i'll just skip those kind of topics and look for another one that i can understand. In my opinion, simple and easy to understand is one of the important factors when one wants to start a topic, and of course the topic has to be somehow meaningful and but childish type. I believe by having the two traits i mentioned above, there shouln't be any more topics that will have zero responses.

I often sift through the 'no response' tab for discussions. I like to contribute to those because I know how much I hate when no one responds to my discussions! Like you, I think that some of the discussions are hard to understand. The grammar is sometimes bad. Other times, it just doesnt make any sense! Some of the discussions are simply statements. They arent asking for any feedback. Sometimes, it even looks like the discussions are a copy and paste from somewhere. Without a direction or question, it is hard to provide a response! I think another big problem is lack of detail. I often see 1 line or 2 line discussions. From that it is really hard to get a feel for where the originator is going. If they are asking a question, it is often difficult to answer because there isnt enough detail! Occasionally, there are responses that I just dont know how to respond to! There are some topics that I dont know anything about. So I generally avoid those! I think one of the best ways to ensure you will get feedback is to ask for advice or ask a question. That way other users know how to respond. I also think that detail is important. But at the same time, if you discussion is too long, it will scare away people. You have to find a happy middle!

Well, i think if those members who got no response in their discussion can read n understand your statement here, they will definitely going to learn quite bit now how to get at least a response in their discussion if not many since many points are spelled out by derlilaStern right here. Thank for the response . Happy mylotting!

I agree with the reasons you stated. When a discussion does not make sense or is difficult to read, then it is very hard to respond to it. Although, I have seen many good topics in the no response tab area. Those topics usually do get a response and do not remain in that tab for long.

sometimes a discussion for us is a very exciting one but for others it is just plain and ordinary. so it will turn out to be a boring one for others than to be a very exciting discussion. i do have some discussion with no responces but got shock when i started about fruit pizza then i got a lot of responces. in my honest opinion i really dont know why some of my discussion does not have response. maybe it is just a bad timing

Just read through some of the reasons in this discussion given by fellow mylotters, i'm sure you will realize why you got zero response in some of your discussions and then you can prevent your future discussion topic in zero response tab, every one here has given their opinion for us to improve in Mylot !! Thank for your response .

I have tried going through the no responses, but with most of them I can understand why they haven't got any responses. As you have said, many are impossible to understand, some don't actually require a response, and some are completely pointless.

I am surprised you find many are impossible to understand I thought i am the only one find it difficult to understand the "advance" English level some members are using .I want to believe some of them just don't want any response to their discussions but just want their views heard or making a statement, so that nobody can respond. Thank for your response. Happy mylottting!

Yes, you got a point here, some are like direct copy n paste from another discussion topic, it just make no sense for me to retype same response to it even with a penny credit. Thank for your response. thanusha85
