Do you do your own nails or do you go to nail spas?

I do my own nails for so many years now. I can count how many times I've been to a nail spa to get my manicure and pedicure done. I just don't feel very satisfied with their services and also for hygienic reasons. I've heard some horror fungus stories of some people who's been to nail spa. I'm scared to take a chance. Over the years I've learned how to do my own nails with nail art, french manicure and stuff. However my eyes are getting worse and I know that sooner or later I won't be able to do my own nails anymore :( How about you? Do you do your own nails or do you get them done at nail spa salons?

Before I was married and had a kid, I used to go to the nail spa. It was my little oasis of relaxation every week and I always loved it. However, when I got new responsibilities in marriage and parenthood, that was one of the first luxuries to go. When married, money has to be shared in one pot and it's not right for me to get my nails done if it means someone else has to go without something. So, now I do my own nails if I even do them at all. Most of the time I don't bother unless we're having a date night or something. They just get messed up cleaning and wiping baby booties all day long! LOL!

When I was still in the Philippines I was having both my hands and feet nails done every month as I had a friend who does it regularly (I'd been her regular customer for more than 20 yrs) because I need special cuttings in my feet nails. I can do it that frequent since it doesn't really cost me that much unlike here in the USA where I have to spend 40-45$, quite far from what I spent in my country which is 40 Pesos ( not even a dollar huh!....by the way 1$ is 47 Phil pesos) for both hands and feet jobs. So you see the difference? That's why I rarely do my manicure/pedicure in Salons/Spas here.

I always do my own nails, too. I've never had them done at a salon. I don't like wearing fake nails, or anything really flashy. I like a really subtle nail coloring.

I've never had anyone do my nails (well, not since I was too young to cut them myself!) I just keep them cut short & use a good moisturiser.
