Do you think it is better to make a list of Topics for discussion on mylot?

All through the day I keep getting several ideas about topics that can be discussed here and I make a mental note of the Topic title. At that time I have felt that I should write it down on a piece of paper, but every time I have forgotten to do so and regretted it, because, when I am here on mylot, I am not able to recollect a single topic and the more I think the more confused I am . I think I am going to follow my instinct hereafter and write down all those ideas that flash through my mind through the day .
Friends how do you all come up with topics of discussion? do any of you make a list of topics that can be discussed or do you start a discussion on the spur of the moment?

Hi! Kiran! You are absolutely right, it is always better to note down the ideas, as and when they come to our mind. Because it is quite possible that when we are working on mylot, ideas just vanish from our brains. If I get a new idea, I note it down somewhere, because I know I have a poor memory and it will be difficult to recall the idea and and when I am on mylot. It is said that "Palest of ink is sharper than any memory". If I am on mylot and any new idea for a new discussion comes into my mind, I immediately start a discussion on it, lest I forget it.

Kiran, it is really bad that someone has copied and pasted your discussion.
You can report the matter to mylot stating that it was your discussion and same has been copied by another member and you can send them the link, as well.

Hi deepak, So I am not the only one who forgets....In my case sometimes, I have to really rake my brains to get some good topic ideas for discussion. But at all other times when I am cooking, walking, eating, watching Tv etc; hundreds of ideas emerge and vanish. So now I have to keep a note book and pen handy ...

Since yesterday I have been doing that. But today it made me mad to realise that one of the members had hijacked my discussion from postparker and copied and pasted and started it here. I dont understand how people could do it , that too so shamelessly. In the same discussion, another person has posted a answer I had posted in the same previous discussion. Can you believe that?
The discussion topic is "Do you Collect recipes and articles from old magazines?"
I am not sure what to do about this?

I write down a To-Do list as it is.
So even in the case of discussions, if I get an idea, I scribble it down in a book.
The reason is I get ideas at the strangest of times.More often than not I get ideas just before I go to bed.So I know if I get up the next day, there is no way I would remember all the topics I had thought of.
I joined mylot in mid-May. For the first few days, I was trying hard to whip up some new topics. Then I realized, its not really necessary to do that.
Now I stick to commenting and responding.I only post discussions that have some value.

Hi cheee, It does help to make a list . I too am doing that now. Earlier i used to go blank the moment I decided to post a discussion. Like you , ideas flash just when i am in bed and I feel lazy to get up and write it down, but now after i keep a small note pad with me and jot down, and after I started making a list the problem has been solved...All the best and happy mylotting

I don't have great ideas to think about most of the time so my hands doesn't always reach out for the pen and paper to jot down topics. Which is why you don't see my discussions floating around mylot often. I have too many things to do in real life that I have generally run out of steam, my ideas have dwindled to dust and I can barely string two words together. I only derive good ideas when am free from the burden of my daily routine and have enough of sleep. I either type straight away while thinking of the words or if it needs some extra juices from the brain then I write it down and transfer it to the computer. This is all done spontaneously and topics are mostly related to everyday happenings or common issues. That is the most I can make out in my discussions.

Hi zandi, I don't think any of us can think of great topics all the time, it is the everyday things that take shape into a topic of discussion.Mine too just flashes while I am walking down the road, taking a walk or cooking or when I read the newspaper, but, since I have a poor memory I tend to forget it soon after. So now try to jot down these ideas so that I am not lost when I sit in front of the comp...

I often get ideas for topics throughout the day. I usually write a list of discussions for mylot, since I don't get on here every day and I would forget half the things I want to talk about. The trouble is, sometimes I forget to bring my list with me when I go to the library to use the internet!

Hi connie, I think it is practical to write down an idea the moment it flashes. It is a pity that you forget your list sometime, may be put it in such a place, your wallet for instance which you have to carry with you when you go out every time you leave the house..

I get my topics just from everyday living! Anything that is related to my life and what I am doing can be a topic on here!
If I get ideas for topics I will write them down. Or if I am at the computer but cant be on myLot, I will send myself an email with the topic. All it takes is a couple of keywords to trigger my thoughts. Those key words then make great tags for the discussion!
I think you should start writing downt he topic title. I think you will find it easier to remember and you wont get frustrated when you try to post!
Good luck and happy mylotting!

Thanks a lot for your response derlilaStern and the helpful suggestions
I too look at some every day happening and feel that it is a good topic for discussion but forget to make a note of it. I think I need to be strict with myself not to be lax , and make a note of at least the key words as you say..
