Are you chocoholic?

Nestle Milkybar - One of my favourites
India

Well, I am a chocoholic, no matter my age or weight or girth. Whenever I feel the yearnings for a bar, I remind myself of the good effects of chocolate, mainly as a great mood enhancer and just go get one. Right now, I am nibbling on a slab of white chocolate…I just love this variety. The yummy taste of milk melting in my mouth. I also love the dark variety, with its distinct bitter taste. Another favourite is the fruit ‘n’ nut variety, with raisins and nuts stuffed inside. Wafers encased in chocolates are another favourite. So you can very well see how much I love chocolates…plain dairy milk is the last option really, when nothing else is available. Do you love chocolates? Which is your favourite?

I have not tasted many flavours or types of chocolates but my favorite is a 'perk' or 'munch' or 'kitkat'. Kitkat is my favorite. i don't know why I like it(just like people dont' know why they liked the movie "Sholey" LOL) but I like it very much. I can't share it with you even if you are one of my best of best friends. PS: I have used best of best friends which means you are still a best freind for me.!LOL

I think I can watch Sholay a 1000 times...I just love that movie. But coming back to chocolates, yes Kitkat is a grreat favourite (more than Perk) though it is becoming too expensive nowadays. So that is agreed then, we are best friends so like perfectly civil friends, we will share our Kitkat and since I am a lady, so like a perfect gentleman, you will give me the larger share, OK?

Sudipta! BTW how much is your girth? And what role did chocolates play in expanding your girth (if at all it is beyond limits..........LOL!) It is not fair, while writing, you were biting the chocolae bar, however, you did not offer it to your friends, who are reading and responding to your discussion. I think you have mentioned all varieties of chocolates and if any of your friend has to gift you a pack of chocolate, s/he will not have to scratch his/her head (e.g. me). I also love chocolates and I love the bitter ones. I like plane chocolates more than which are stuffed with nuts, raisins and wafers etc., I want to completely relish the taste of real chocolate.

Oh Deepak, my girth is not beyond control yet and to be fair to the chocolate, most of it is post-pregnancy fat but because of that, I have to keep a tight leash on myself on most food and its sooooooooooooo difficult for me you know. Let me tell you another secret…I cant share good food if there is a limited amount to it (this is the only thing I cant give away without any thoughts) And aren’t the bitter ones just wonderful (a tad expensive though, so that keeps a leash on it for me)

Oh! It is good Sudipta that your girth is well within your control and eating chocolates does not going to make much effect on your beautiful figure. Again, I'll have to repeat that it is not fair that you just keep a tight lease (like a child) on the food items and do not want to share it, you can offer some portion of it, may be 1/5th or 1/6th.

its a co-incidence,juct a few minutes ago,i got a family pack of 5 stars, and as i am on the slimmer side,i dont have to watch my weight.but as i dont allow my kids to eat so much choclate, even i have to control myself.

Riya I’m coming over…my slab is over so keep that 5star for me One thing Riya I would really like to know is that do you really believe that we should control chocolates for our children? I don’t like chips or other fast food so I censor those, but regarding chocolates, I just cant say no for my son. Its not that he’s always having them but in our childhood, we had sweets all the time…nothing bad happened except maybe to our teeth but now everywhere I hear about limiting sweets and chocolates for children. What do you think? Are we being unnecessarily cautious these days and robbing them of their childhood? After all, its not that every adult loves chocolates (like me)…so shouldn’t they have their fill when they are children?

Hi Sudipta, Well many of you have this or that excuses to be in good book with chocolates but never ever I have felt attracted towards it. Let alone me even my wife is all oppose to chocolate. This is because our physical composure and the homor are not same on all people. My wife can die seven deaths for sliced green mangoes and green chilies to go with them. I can not take a single bite of that. I feel my body is more prone towards salty and a bit sweetie shade.

24 May 09
Oh so your wife is more prone to sour and hot flavours? A lot many women love that flavour...that's why phuchkas or panipuris are such a hit with ladies! Never mind, its good that there are many out there who dont like chocolates...imagine if all loved chocolates, there will be a shortage of it and what will I do then

I don't spend much for chocolates. My taste buds have cheap taste, I guess...lol! Believe it or not, I am in love with Kitkat's taste. Nothing beats it's smooth chocolatey taste, not to mention the wafers. Indeed, when I want to have a break, I dig into my bag for a bite of my favorite Kitkat :-)

I too am a chocoholic previously. However, now I take dark chocolates instead because dark chocolates are better ones if it is eating for health. Whichever, one still needs to eat in moderation. Two piece of 20g chocolates requires at least half an hour of exercise to get rid of any excess calories....
• India
25 May 09
Awww come on, dont bring the calorie monster into such a 'sweet' discussion But you are right, moderation is the key though I forget it sometimes...dark chocolates I think have some beneficial attributes for the heart.

I also do love chocolate! I actually have a Dove dark chocolate (with almonds and raisins) and a Butterfinger bar in the refrigerator here in the office for my after meal sweets/dessert :D I prefer dark chocolate over milk chocolate. I'm not after the uber sweet stuff, I really like the taste of cocoa/chocolate. My favorite is probably Ferrero's dark chocolate variety. It's a new discovery, I tasted it for the first time this month :D Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Yes, I too have a small bar with me for desert after lunch in office...and specially as I feel very sleepy during 2-4pm, it acts as a mood enhancer really.

I used to want chocolate all the time when I was teenage but not anymore, I don't know from when the desire of wanting chocolate all the time just went away, I do eat it still but not so crazy, crave for it once in a while, little bit of chocolate can cure my problem now :-)

Its good that you have got over this...its a real addiction for types like us and its an expensive addiction. When I cant afford the bars, I'll settle for the toffees (eclairs)...but a little chocolate is a must.

I would have to say I am not anymore. But I used to be. I still enjoy chocolate every now and then but I thimk my craving has toned itself down as I have gotten older. I just don't want to eat a whole candy bar of pure chocolate because it gets too rich. Just a little bit of the darkest chocolate I can find is my absolute favorite. Dark chocolate is incredible I really enjoy the slightly bitter tase.

Yes, dark chocolates are wonderful…I too love its bitter sweet taste and they so creamy…only thing is that they are way too expensive for me.

I absolutely love chocolate they are my pals. Without chocolate I would feel pretty bad. Sometimes I catch myself stealing chocolate from my mum. I feel bad about it, although it's just a small thing it's not good to steal it. My favourite is pure chocolate from a certain brand.

Yes I am. Every pay day I buy chocolates for the family and we have our own favorite flavour. I love, Goya, Hershey, Toblerone. I love Milk Chocolate, even Chocolate drinks. My favorite is Cadbury Chocolate and I can finish one whole bar in just one reading LOL.

Wow, you have so many varieties...In India, Cadbury and Nestle are home produced and within my budget...all the others like Ferrero Rocher, Hershey or Toblerone are imported and very expensive. I gift them to my son on special occassions.

I absolutely love chocolate in the majority of it's variations ;0) I'm not too picky! I don't have one favorite I have many, Skor (chocolate covered toffee), Caramello's (chocolate covered carmels), Kit-Kat, Snickers, Chocolate Turtles, Cream chocolate eggs (a egg of choclate with a marshemellow like inside usually strawberry), Chocolate w/ mint flavoring, Cadburry Eggs, Peanut Butter cups, M&M's Plain, Hershey's Cookies'n Cream, 3 Musketeers..... Though PB Cups & Kit-Kats are my easiest to come across..... Otherwise I'm very addicted to Cadburry Eggs but those are only around during Easter *sigh*
