Well most of the time I buy the name brands, but sometimes I do buy the store brands to save a few bucks, besides most of the time they taste the same so why pay an extra dollar or two for something just becuse its a popular name when you can get they same tasting product for less, thats my philosophy, as long as it taste good and the ingredients are pretty much the same I dont mind buying a few store brand products especially in these difficult times we are living in. So tell me do you occasionally buy the store brands when shopping for food or are you one of those people who rather buy only name brand, and come on be honest, thanks.

Hi Apples, we usually go for the store brands, but then sometimes the store brands are more expensive than the branded ones, especially if there is a sale. Store brands are seldom on sales or promo offers!

I buy a mix of name brand and store brand food items to help save a little on my budget, it really helps, few saved dollars can go a long way, But I only buy name brand toothpaste, shampoos, face wash, and other things like that, I only make exceptions for food items, lol

Actually, I generally ONLY buy the store brand. That's how I was raised. My family is extremely good at pinching pennies in any and every way possible, so it's pretty ingrained in me. Every once in a while we'll get a name brand if it's on sale or something, but other than that it's always the cheaper store brand stuff. I even do some of my shopping at the dollar store to save even more money on food. I'm still trying to teach this concept to my fiance. He never complains about the food we eat (I don't even think he knows what brands I buy at all), but if i let him pick up some things at the store he always goes immediately for the name brands because in his house they always used the name brands. He likes them because he knows they taste good and doesn't want to risk the store brands, though he's liked all the store brand items I always buy. I don't have anything against name brand items, we just can't afford them. We're still young and don't have great jobs and lots of bills and debt and I'd rather save money any way possible.

I was raised in a similar way as you when it comes to buy food, I think that if you can buy food that taste the same and has the same ingredients for much less why pay more just becuse the item has a big name, so I agree with a lot of what you say, theres are certain thing that I will only buy in a name brand things like toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, and soap, these are the items that will only buy in name brand no acceptions to the rule for those products, but I dont mind buying a few store brand food items.

Yes I do buy some store brands. They are a lot cheaper than the other brands they carry. I buy some kitchen stuff like vinegar soy sauce and many other. There are store brands that really good. They also have cotton and many simple things. Shopping is fun but we need to be wise in spending our money in some items.

I buy store brands majority of the time these days to save money. In some cases, the store brands taste just the same or better than name brands.

I honestly prefer the store brands on most things. I prefer some places more then others, but for the price difference I really don't see buying name brand when I like the much cheaper store brand. There are a few things I buy name brand though.

I almost always buy name brands but just yesterday I bought the store brand of lightbulbs as well as the name brand. I put them both in the same fixture and am going to see which lasts longer.

Most of the time I buy name brands. But if the product happens to be cheaper in the store brand then i'il buy it. But thats not very often. Alot of times I don't like certain foods in store brand names, it just taste weird to me. I prefer name brands better...But I always love to save money every chance I get!

I only buy name brand items when they are on sale with a price comparable or less then the no name brands. The no name brands are made by the name brand companies anyway. So save your money for something else you may want.

I do exactly the same as you when it comes to shopping for food, store brands or name brands. It simply depends on what you buy. Sometimes name brands are undoubtedly better than the store brands and I do buy some name-branded food although they are comparatively a little expensive. But if there is no much difference in food taste and ingredients, I would prefer store brands, simply to save some money.

I have to admit although it's not the most economical thing I usually buy brand names. The few times that I have bought store brands I feel that I can really tell the difference. However, I've eaten store brand foods from someone else amd I couldn't tell the difference so I think it's all in my head. But all in all no I don't usually buy store brands i'm a name brand girl!

I usually buy the store brand on everything! I have a total of seven in my family to feed thats five children and two adults myself and my fiance'. So we need to bargin shop as much as possible. I agree with you if it tastes good I will not spend extra dollars on brand name items I ca buy for cheaper. However, honeatly there are a few things I will not buy unless they are name brand since I think the name brands taste better than the store brands and they are:Sliced and shredded cheese, parm cheese for spegetti and of course my coffee. I just like the name brands of these items so so much better and the taste is better in my opinion. So with seven mouths to feed I have no problem with buying store brand items for my family and they have no problem eating them lol Happy MyLotting!

oh for sure! also if its the store brand that probably means that it comes from a closer area. for instance i shop at H-E-B, a Texas store meaning that the store brand actually comes from Texas grown food instead of food from other states.

A lot of the time I do buy store brands. I think most of the time they are just as good as the name brand products. If the store brand is cheaper I will buy it every time. If the products are the same in price due to a sale or a coupon or whatever I will go ahead and buy the name brand. But for me it is mostly all about saving money I will go for what ever is cheaper all the time.

I buy it sometimes like I would try to get once to try because the price is usually little cheaper, if they taste fine and I don't feel anything wrong, I will purchase again but if they taste so different than the regular one, I will stop purchsing them and rather spend little more for the regular one.

I do a mix of store brand and name brand. Like for milk, I usually by the store brand, pasta I buy the store brand, olive oil I buy the store brand, lunch meat store brand, ziplock bags store brand, yogart store brand, and if im buying cheese that is sliced I get the store brand but only from HEB(which is a grocery store in Texas). Most of the times the products taste the same but not always.I have always had a problem with the store brand shredded cheese lasting for a long time and tasting right to me, so I get the name brand. The same for salad dressings. I buy the name brand cause for me I taste a difference and prefer kraft. I've had problems with store brand trash bags as well so I buy name brand. Just like with anything somethings are worth the extra couple of $ and some are not.

of course. if you need one certain ingredient for a one or two time use, why not buy the store brand? itll taste the same and save you a few dollars. theres nothing wrong with it at all. if there is a sale on for the name brand stuff then maybe thatd be a good idea but for the most part i dont really think it matters too much. you made a good point: it is a good idea to save those few dollars in the economic hardship we are experiencing. those few dollars can add up quite quickly.
