whenever I travel I like to keep cash handy. Once I had no cash handy and I was at village in India. there was no ATM and no shop or hotel had the facility to accept the card. It was very inconvenient.

Hi sumanadep, I too carry cash while traveling. But I carry my debit and credit card as well. From my own experience on traveling in India,I have never felt handicapped, because there are ATM facilities now on the highway at almost every little town. SBI has made sure that their ATMs are there at every nook and corner, and almost all cards are accepted there with a little charge for withdrawal..

I always have my money belt on me or close to me. That means that I am able to take money with me in the currencies that I need for my trip. On a long journey where I visit many countries it can be difficult to get all the currencies that I need to have. Sometimes it is not possible to get a currency until I arrive in that country. In that case I take either British Pounds or more likely American Dollars. I take my debit card as well and then I can get more money when I haven't much cash left. I went to a department store in South Africa and put my debit card in a bank machine. I got an advice slip but no money. Luckily a shop assistant took me to the bank but it was closed. Amazingly they opened the door and I went inside. The bank clerk sorted everything out and I got the South African Dollars that I needed. It was fine because that happened in a country that uses my mother tongue but if I was in a country facing a language barrier things might have been challenging.

Hi there,I would say it depends on where I go.If for the places rare persons would like to go or under development,I will bring more cash with me as I know that you can not use card or cash in ATM,even there're ATM or card usable,it'll be not enough security for your card~If for the places fully or at least development,I like to bring card other that cash.Indeed,I don't think it's a good idea to bring ton of cash in my bag when travel~~lol`~

I prefer to travel with cards than taking money in cash with me when i go anywhere because I feel I am more secure when I have the cards which need only my pin code to be able to withdraw monay instead od the cash which can be stolen anytime and anywhere byanyone.

Hi Sumanadep, I actually carry cash and credit card with me when i am travelling. I don't like to bring too much cash with me when i am running around. I think that's is not safe. I will bring small cash with me and use my card wherever i can. That is a very good way for me!

it is advisable to bring both cash and card especially if you are planning to go to an area where ATMs are limited and credit or debit cards are not widely accepted.
