do you find it easy to lose weight?

personally, i dont find it that easy to lose weight at all. i find that i have a constant battle with myself not to open a packet of crisps.. ..and i hate exercise as well, so thats against me right from the start. i can lose about 1lb a week just by cutting out a couple of snacks a week, but apart from that, i find it very hard indeed to lose anymore. im going to university to start a new course in september, and i really need to lose weight before i go, otherwise im worried that im not going to fit in :(

I wish I could answer you YES right away, but I can't because I know that losing weight is not something that happens overnight. Really, there are a lot of challenges that go with it and one should have the determination, dedication, and be motivated enough to be able to do it. I agree with you that losing weight is constant battle. September is still a long way. And the best way to lose weight is still to exercise regularly, coupled with eating healthy food. If you're not the exercise type of person and if you have extra bucks to shell out, you could opt for the passive way of losing weight which is through treatments.

Well I just don't have enough self control in any way to be honest with you. I will try to cut out some more snacks and go on walks. I heard there are some treatments which aren't unplesant that you can do to lose a pound or two, so I might try that a little nearer to the time. Thank you for responding!

I've heard of Radio Frequency Treatments. Here in my country, a lot of celebs avail of this service. It's a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment. I'm sure you have it where you are. It is a bit expensive and usually it requires a person to have at least 6 sessions, which depends on the problem area.

Thank you for telling me about this. I will certainly look into it, but if it costs quite a bit of money I already know that I won't be able to afford it. I think I will carry on trying to lose weight the way I have been doing for a little longer before I spend any more money on it. Thank you for the suggestion though, I will certainly bear it in mind!

If losing weight was easy, it wouldnt be a mulit-billion dollar industry!! The hardest part for me has been the mental battles. I can physically do everything I need to in order to lose weight. The hard part is convincing yourself to do it! The only thing that has worked for me is NOT dieting! I refuse to be a part of a diet where I cant eat something or I have to eat something I dont like! I have just started paying more attention to my body. When I am full, I stop eating - even if there is food left on my plate. I have found foods that are better for me that I still like. Brown rice instead of white rice. Whole wheat pasta rather than regular pasta. That way I still get all of my favorites and the health benefits! I am not at all a gym person. I tried, more than once! I go for a little while and then never go back! Instead I have found things I like to do. I go for walks with friends or my husband. Sometimes it is just around the neighborhood. Sometimes it is at the zoo or the art museum or the mall! We have gone bowling and rock climbing. They are all exercise, but you dont think of it that way because you are having fun! good luck!

Yes I have tried eating differently, which I have no problem with, but my family don't want to diet, and we all tend to eat the same things at the same time. I am moving out in September, so will be able to eat what I want when I want then, but it's before then that I need to lose weight! I do like going for walks, but don't always find the time. I have to spend a lot of time taking care of my younger brother, but he likes to play on his games console, so won't come out on walks with me!

I know I make excuses- and I know I have to overcome them. You didn't sound rude so don't worry. It is a valid point you're making. I will offer to cook for my family and see if they prefer the healthy options, then hopefully they will cook a little healthier when they cook as well. As for the brother- honestly there's no way anyone can drag him off the games console. He has no other interests! But perhaps I could buy an exercise trampoline so that I can stil exercise when I have to look after him. Thanks for your help :)

This is probably going to come out somewhat rude. I dont mean it that way, so I am sorry if it does. You have lots of excuses. But you need to do something to change you! Cook dinner for your family. That way you can all eat the same thing - but you can make it healthy. Eat smaller portions. I was amazed at how much I was really overeating! If you have to spend time with your brother, find something else he does like. Soccer? Basketball? Baseball? Frisbee? Make an agreement with him. Play video games with him after he does something else with you. If he is in your care, you have the power to limit his video game playing. That will help you lose the weight now and help him set up good habits for later in his life! Everyone has excuses. You have to find a way to get past them. Who knows - maybe after your family starts to see a difference in you they will want to join you! That is why I now have my mother-in-law to go for walks with! She saw it was making a difference for me so she decided to try it!

i do not find it at all easy despite doing all i can. i have been exercising (walking outdoors and using a treadmill, some hand weights and exercise bands and stomach crunches) cutting back on portions and not eating at night and it comes off very very slowly. i have alot to lose so i have to stick to this. i have lost 13 lbs but it has taken 3 months or so. i am not giving up though.
@GemmaR (8517)
28 May 09
I am sorry that you don't find it easy either. Even so, almost a stone in 3 months really isn't bad going. I wish I could lose that amount, as it is more than I've lost ever since I started dieting two years ago. I think I need to exercise a lot more before I can lose any serious weight, but I know now what I have to do, because I have spoken to everyone on here, and hopefully I will be able to get there soon!

Hey Gemma! I was never very good at sticking to a diet! And now I need to lose some weight too! I hate to excercise too! The only real exercise I do get is walking and I haven't even been doing much of that! This past weekend me and one of my girlfriends did alot of walking, but I have to continue doing it in order for it to do any good! My problem is snacking late at night! I love cookies and cakes so that is my bit problem!
@GemmaR (8517)
28 May 09
I am in exactly the same boat as you! I will do what has been suggested to you and cut down on portion sizes I think. I need to start walking, but ever since I learned how to drive, the walking has just become less and less. Although I haven't passed my test yet, I can still drive my Mum's car, so I tend to take that wherever I go to practice. I guess that has to stop, I could just walk to the shops! Crisps are my HUUUUGE vice, if I pick up a bag, I can't stop half way, I just have to finish the bag!

OPAL26. Walking can do wonders. Just try to do it regularly. You can start with 30 minutes everyday and slowly increase it. Oh. Cookies and cakes can really be a problem, but try cutting down on portion size first. I hope it helps. Goodluck.

no i dont find it easy at all, most times i do lose weight after some weeks of exercises and when i stop the exercising for just few days, i will start to gain the weights back and i dont really have time to exercise everyday except for the weekends, though i try to wake up early enough and have a long fast walk, this works very well for me only if i can keep it for a long period of time
@GemmaR (8517)
28 May 09
I know what you mean! Sometimes I have a week where I don't have much else to do, so I'll just go out for walks, and will probably lose a bit of weight doing that, but then as soon as I slip back into the old routine it will all go back on again! I guess I will just have to find something that I can do everyday without finding that I don't have the time to do it anymore! Good luck you with your weight loss, I hope you hit that target weight soon!

Losing weight is easy for me but of course it took me some time. I never really exercise what I did is I find some chores that needs more physical movements. Even in this age of modern technology I never used any. I just used the traditional tools. The chores that I do had motivated me to make used of my extra energy because it made me think that its an important job that I need to finish.

I am glad to hear that it's easy for you. At least some people have a bit of luck even if I don't! Maybe I should start helping round the house a little more instead of being on MyLot all day, and then I might find that I am able to lose weight a little more quickly than when I don't do anything! Thank you for taking the time to respond, and I hope you have a nice day!

Losing weight takes a lot of discipline and determination. You can lose weight easily if you are taking a daily routine exercise and dieting (not starvation, you can eat less but you don't need to starve yourself). Stay away from eating crisps as its not healthy and has lots of calories. You can eat a much more healthy snack like fresh fruits which can add fiber to the body. Drink milk as it produces colostrum which burns fat. If you are going to these procedures, you will be able to lose weight in 3-4 months even if you are 10 kgs overweight! Trust me as it worked for me, I was 12 kgs overweight 2 years ago. I hope that you will get fit in the future.

I will hopefully be getting myself into a good routine very soon. I will try to cut down on foods that are bad for me. Thank you for your support, I will take your advice and will hopefully find it a lot easier to lose weight in the future. Congratulations on losing so much weight yourself, you must have worked really hard for it!

I am so skinny, if I lose any weight my family will report me to missing persons... I used to be well build when i was still training and going to gym. That was when I was in the cops. I then lost my kidneys and through so many operations (14) in last few years, I lost all muscles. I am just skin and bone. Because I do not pass urine, I pick up between 2 and 5 kg in a day and a half, but that is all just fluids. When I go for dialysis, I loose all that weight again. I always joke saying many people wish they could loose between 2 & 5 kgs in four hours. Well, as for you, there is no better way to loose weight than to discipline yourself, get off the computer, leave the snacks and excersise. If want it, you can have it. Don't think about doing it, or you will never do it. Just get up and run, or something. I whish you all the best
@GemmaR (8517)
28 May 09
I am so sorry to hear about your kidneys, that can't be easy for you. Thank you for your support though, I will try to get off the computer, although it is very HARD with MyLot being so addictive! I will try and go out for a run a little later and see what happens. Thanks for your support :)

I have always battled with my weight! I struggle to lose it, but it always seems to find me again! I really wish that this time, when I lose it, it finds someone else rather than me! I have cut out most junk foods, but do allow myself a little something once or twice a week. I have also cut out regular soda and I have been drinking more water. I even eat smaller portions and leave the last bite onmy plate. I wish I could say that I have lost a lot of weight, but I can't because I have only lost about 10 pounds since the beginning of the year.

I feel your pain! Whenever I do manage to lose weight, I can't lose much, and it always comes off really slowly. I will try to cut out some things like you have, and see if it helps. I have tried drinking more water, but to be honest all it did was make me need the toilet more, which isn't all that practical in my job!! I know that's a rubbish excuse, but it is the truth!

NO, not at all - i think it is one of the most difficult things in the world. It needs a lot of effort and dedication. I wanted to loose 7-8 kilogrammes of my body weight, in fact advised to do so. It took me all of 8 months to loose 6 kilos and when I took it easy for a few days I had gained 2 kilos back, so now trying to loose that as well. I go for regular walks but my problem is with Eating. I have not been able to cut down on that. there have been too many dinners and functions and outings which has only made things more difficult for me...I hope you are able to stick to your resolution and achieve what you want

Thank you for responding! I know what you mean about meals out. I get invited by my friends to go to an Indian place near our house almost every weekend. There is absolutely nothing healthy to eat there, so I really don't have a choice. The only thing I can do on that front is skip starters and dessert and only have the main course, but even so, it's extremely unhealthy! Thanks for your support :) I wish you all the luck in the world also.

I have the opposite problem. I struggle to put ON weight. I'm underweight and it's disgusting. My ribs show. I have bony knees. It's gross and I don't feel feminine. I eat four BIG meals a day and I eat plenty of snacks, but I still can't put on weight. The biggest problem I have is that I'm vegetarian, so most of my snacks are fruit or nuts and most of my meals are made from vegetables or pasta and rice. I won't have crisps or biscuits in the house because I have a four year old daughter and I don't want her snacking on junk. I don't exercise much - I just take the dogs to the park each day and they race around like mad while I read a book, so that's not it. I guess the food choices put together mean I find it impossible to put on any weight. If you can't find a way to lose weight and you don't want to exercise, maybe take a closer look at what you're eating and how it's prepared? It's possible to eat four or five times a day and yet still only eat low calories. I know this because I do it.
@GemmaR (8517)
28 May 09
If you really want to put on some weight, why don't you go to see your doctor, and they might be able to tell you about some foods that you can try. I understand that being a vegitarian means that you can't eat meat and meat products, and all of those are packed with calories, so you may have problems putting on weight. I think you're being very sensible though not letting your daughter snack on junk food. If you teach her these healthy habits now, hopefully they will last a lifetime! Thanks for your advice, I will try to follow it and hope that it will work for me!

it's easy for me to lose weight ever since till i got pregnant and gave birth at 30. then, i was 13 lbs. overweight for my height. till i started taking food literally as is: coffee would just be coffee (sans sugar and cream, of course with water). pork would be just that pork (fried or grilled). no sauces no cream. rice would be plain rice. no chinese take out here. a cake would be a slice of cake. i'm only one person so i just eat one. sodas would be calorie free and so on.... but each one has their own body build. maybe you just need to experiment with those styles and sizes that's really for you. there are a lot of big built beautiful women out there.

I am happy for you that you find it so easy to lose weight. That is a good thing for you! I will take some of your advice and hope that it will work for me! I do know that there are beautiful larger women, but I am overweight, and I want to do something about that for me and my family. I don't want them losing me prematurely because I'm so unhealthy. Thank you for your support.

Yes,it is easy to get weight while it is difficult to lose weight. I spent several years to lose 30g. I eat less and do a lot of exercises. At first,I hate exercises ,too.But I know I must do that.Until now,I have the habit to do exercises regularly. Doing exercises is the best way to lose weight,I think. Just hold on. You will lose weight. Have a nice day!

Thank you for taking the time to respond :) I am going to try to get myself into a routine like you have, so that I will be able to exercise regularly without getting too bored of it. I don't like going out for walks because, to be honest, it just bores me, but I guess I could take my mobile phone and call a friend while I'm walkin or something, or take my ipod. These are all things I've only just started thinking about now I've posted this topic, so thanks to you and everyone else for helping me out with it!

It seems that a great discipline in doing this objective. At first, I tried to control eating where I have done it almost a month. I did not loose appetite though I had that urge still. So lately I've been eating a lot more than what I do before . Another thing is that I did have set the goal but always break them up. I tend to still follow my thirst of food that I love to eat. Really the only thing that is a must to set and achieve this goal, self discipline and a balanced diet and exercise.
@GemmaR (8517)

I do have a goal, but perhaps it's too large and unrealistic. Maybe I need to set myself smaller goals, and then I might get somewhere. I will try to do that, and see if I find it any easier to stick to healthier habits. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Honestly, losing weight is very easy to me but I find it more difficult to increase my weight. I eat a lot of food and I don't think or having problem of being fat because no matter how much I eat, I don't get bad. I don't drink any medicine to maintain my figure, it just my body is very slow in functioning the foods that I eat.. All of my friends were so shock that I love to eat since it doesn't obvious with my body. I'm so very thin and maybe if the wind is very strong I can easily fly away. It takes to much time for me to get fat and it seems 1 week is very long for me to lose weight since I can just lose my weight in 3 days.. When I got sick, I really lose so much weight and it is very hard for me to increase my weight again. My doctors had prescribe so many supplement vitamins to increase my weight but it only increase me for 40 kilos. My most heavy weight that I had encountered was 42 kilos and that was when I was 16 years old. But now I'm 21 my weight is only 39 kilos. I find it very difficult to increase it because of my work. I'm always get tired with my work and no time to eat. I just keep on eating during my rest day while watching movies.

Thanks, I might well do that. I have wanted to do either WW or slimming world for a while, but I wouldn't want to go to the meetings on my own. I'm glad you're doing so well though, and I hope that you can continue to do so! Thanks for responding :)

i think it's more difficult to gain weight than to lose weight . whenever i am sick, i will lose 2 to 3 kg and it is difficult to gain it back
@GemmaR (8517)

I don't have the same problem when I'm sick- if I lose a couple of pounds when I'm not well, I find that they will go straight back on as soon as I am eating normally. However, I do agree that it's harder for underweight people to put on weight than it is for overweight people to lose it. I think that might be because it's generally just the way they're built, and there's very little they can do about that. Thank you for responding :)

Well, nothing is easy at firt. I have been overweight all my life and just now I am starting to do something about it. Instead of ordering something from the tv and trying to change my whole lifestyle I do something that works for me. I've been doing this for about 3 weeks and I am already losing and I know I won't gain it back. I have a weird work schedule so I know I can't commit to doing something I can't do. Instead this is what I have been doing, I started eating breakfast. I use to only eat about one meal a day and little snacks in between. I started off small with a yogurt and then I upgraded to wheat bread and a hard-boiled egg. I cut soda and juice from my diet. If I want something sweet I will usually drink a nestea during the day so I can flush it with the 140oz of water I have been drinking. Then I eat about every 2-3 hours. So I usually first eat my yogury around 11, then around 2 I might have some grapes, or an actual lunch, then around 4 I will snack again and then around 7 I will. I have been doing this for about 3wks and I feel great. Now I just have to add excerise at my pace and I know I will lose. Losing weight isn't overnight you just have to find what works for you.

NOPE! Losing weight is never easy - however, your motivation to lose weight is not the "healthiest" reason. Or not sustainable, I guess. It's a common "mistake" that everyone makes - because once you lose it, you will gain it right back once you don't have to back to school. What would be your motivation then?
27 May 09
Well I'm lucky since I'm nearly underwight but I want to gain some weight so what do you think I should do in order to gain weight? I'm too skinny these days :(
@GemmaR (8517)
27 May 09
You can have some of mine, I have plenty to spare! Jokes aside though.. try eating a lot of carbohydrates. And don't feel guilty for having chocolate/ice cream every now and then. You shouldn't try to gain weight by just eating more though, it's not really healthy. Perhaps you could go to your doctor and ask if there's any healthy way you could lose weight? Some people are just slim naturally, and unfortunately there's not much you can do about it if that's the case. But good luck anyway! & thanks for responding!
