This week three young adults (I call them adults because they are all 18) blew their graduation by going to the school bus area and as a graduation prank slashed 25 very expensive tires, smashed headlights, and put a hole in the coolant tanks of 25 buses. Schools had to start on a delayed schedule. The damage is over $16,000. These boys are all seniors and were due to graduate in 2 days. These boys will all face charges of malicious injury to property. "This is a criminal offense. It's a felony. It's very serious." Said the captain of the police. What a way to start a new life. These are supposedly not bad boys. As a parent I would be very disappointed in my children if they did any thing like this. What do you think should be done to these boys.

How about with-holding their diplomas and school transcripts? The school can let them do work in school like, help clean the campus or paint the hallways, until they have paid for the damages. I think this is better than actually letting them do time. Having them go to jail might traumatize them since it won't be juvenile prison anymore. But punishing them for what they did is important to instill in them that they can't just do things that are harmful even if it's just a prank.

I would be worse than disappointed. I would not pay for any fancy lawyer to represent them. They would have to pay the consequences. Our lock ups in this country are worse than primitive and my husband took our 3 sons when they were teenagers and they were given a tour of the police station and ;lock up. It was sucha scary experience for them thsat . thank god, they have never broekn the law apart from a traffic violation.
I am not saying that tye are bad boys at all but have to learn that every action has a consequence and they have to face up tothe consequences. This is so sad.

its to darn bad we cant whip the tar out of them these days. they would have thought better of that sort of thing way back when. young people have no respect for property any more or their elders either.
