Would you trust your hairdresser...

.. your hair? I mean - would you let your hairdresser decide the hairstyle he/she is going to cut you in? Very recently, my friend let her hairdresser decide what hairstyle she (my friend) should have. And I have to say that the result was outstanding and the new hairstyle suits my friend perfectly. Additional question if you happen to be a hairdresser - has any of your customers let you cut their hair by hairstyle of your choice? Cheers. - Stardust

I have done this before. I told my hairdresser I needed a short style for summer and easy to take care of. The rest was up to her and I was pleased with the results.

I have told her this twice now. The first time I just wanted a short hair cut for summer because we were going to be doing some outside work. More recently I was told I needed to take chemotherapy treatments and my hair, which was long, would probably fall out. So I wanted it cut short for less mess when it started falling out.

I have let a hairdresser decide on what hairstyle he was going to cut. The first time was great I loved it but the second time I like it after he blowed dried my hai but when I took a shower I hated the still and I was not able to do dry it like he did. And I don't know why but most of the time they do something to my hair cut that I don't like or the will just do a horible job. So far only two people have done a nice job I guess I just have not fined my new hairdresser. And its really bad that the only two that I like live in diferent states.

The only reason that I tried it was because I wanted something diferent because at that time I had more than five years with my hear long and my hairvut was in a realy boring way. And that actually made realize that I had more options and nut just one or two haircut styles.

I like to vary with hairstyles and my most recent hairdresser seems to have a great idea of both what suits the type of face I have and what kind of hairstyle I personally like. She combines that perfectly. However, I do want her to tell me up front what she is planning on doing with my hair and I like to be envolved in it so I can tell her 'no' if she's got an idea that I really don't like the sound of. My mom however has been a model for students who need people to perform exams on to become a certified hairdresser. She has had all kinds of hairstyles, she would take on any hairstyle even the ones they could hardly find a volunteer for. She would let her hair grow back after that and go to the next student. She always had a hairstyle that was in fashion and she never paid a dime for it. If you aren't picky about your hair and want to help out future hairdressers this is the way to go. But for me personally, I like to have at least a little bit of a saying in what happens to my hair .

Not really. I'm too picky about my hair and I'm the type of person to brush it and go. I don't spend a lot of time on it. Not to mention my hairdresser is a bit on the crazy side! Once she tried suggesting a swing bob for me. I said no. She did it anyway and I went back a few days later to have it fixed. The only time I have listened to her advice is when I had a special occasion to go to. I had already been to several and was just out of ideas of what to do with my hair this time. So when I went in, she suggested something and we went with it. That's probably about the only time I'd listen to her again.

Ooh. That was quite an interesting story. And it sure does depend on the hairdresse, I guess. Thanks for responding!

I would never let my hairdresser decide my hair style because I know exactly what hair style I want... But if I didn't have such a strong opinion about what kind of a hair style I want, I very well might let my hairdresser decide, altough with some restrictions of course, like I don't it to be cut short

I understand completely. Hairdressers usually knows which hairstyle that suits to each face shape type. But it's also very important to feel secure in your hairstyle (as it has a pretty huge impact on your self esteem). Thanks for your response!

I would. I trust and believe in my hairdresser that he'd know what hairstyle would be best for me. He's studied and constantly gets training in other countries so I know that he is good in his craft. He certainly knows what he is doing. I've been seeing the same hairdresser since I was in college. No one else could touch my hair. Hahaha.

I have been going to the same hairdresser for years, and I really like her and she always does a great job, but I don't think I could ever give up control to that extent, i love my hair and am a little bit obsessive over it, so even the thought of letting someone else decide the haircut makes me nervous lol
