Are you bored with traveling by plane?

One of my friends said she is bored traveling by plane. She thinks that airfares have gone up considerably since her last flight two years ago. She hates the idea of all the airport security like the restrictions on taking liquids on hand luggage. So I told her it would be possible for her to travel overland instead of by air. She could take a train from London to Paris or Brussels and then make connections to anywhere in Europe. She thinks she might like to take a train to Italy. She could go on a night train from Paris and arrive in Rome the next morning. The only thing she doesn't like is the train fare! Are you bored with traveling by train? If so why? Would it be possible for you to go traveling to another country without going by air? If so where would you go?

If it is about getting bored, I think traveling by train won't be much better than the plane. There are different scene from time to time but I will get bored very soon to see the "different" scene (which looks to me the same quite soon). Traveling by plane at least offer you some in-plane entertainment such as movies and radios. While it may be possible to use train connections to travel around in Europe, plane is still needed if you want to cross continents. Even if we are just talking about traveling from UK to Asia where technically speaking it can be done overland, I will still opt for plane as that take far less time.

By train from London to Beijing would be possible but it might take fourteen days by train with some stopovers instead of fourteen hours by plane. I can easily put up with that amount of time in the air. Traveling by day there is the entertainment system on a plane but sleeping in economy overnight can be uncomfortable. Thanks for your excellent response.

hi yeah i do not consider long journeys by plane very comfortable at all. i just hate international flights-all that check-in procedures, etc. the longest flight that i have been was from india to US, and since mine was an ecomomy seat-it was all crammed for space also the seats werent comfortable, i cud not sleep that night and then the jet lag-it was really painful.

Actually, I don't get bored with any form of travel. I love it. Sometimes you will get a little tired of the same type of transport, but never bored, as long as you are heading towards another adventure, or even home from one,

I think it's boring to travel by train. As usually the train doesn't have a comfortable feeling as well as the plane. Besides, it can take a very long time arriving to the destination if you travel by train. So usually I will travel by plane because I don't have more vacations. When I am in the plane, usually I will keep eating or speaking as sometimes my ears will feel uncomfortable. When I am eating or speaking, it can release my bad feeling. So I won't feel very bored when I am in the plane. I love China

Going by plane is a lot faster than travelling by train or by bus and that is the reason why I have often chosen to fly to my destination. There are things that I don't like much about the planes though. I don't like the many restrictions about luggage etc, and I feel more free when I am travelling by bus or by train. This summer my husband and I are going the Latvia and Lithuania and we have chosen to go by train and bus instead of flying. It is cheaper that way, and there are less restrictions about the luggage.

I love to fly. I like it when you first take off, it feels as if you are on a roller coaster. And then when you are in the air, you can see all of the different land. It is especially neat flying across the United States. At first you may see mountains, then crop fields and then the desert. I think it really looks neat from up there. I haven't really ever traveled by train. Just locally on a subway or city train like in Boston and New York City. I think it would be enjoyable to watch the terrain from a train car window instead of driving myself. When you are driving it seems like you miss a lot of the scenery that the riders get to see. Have a great week!

personally i like travel by plane;such as it is true that sometmes it is boring due to the security measure in the airport especially if you travel towards some countries but i find travelling by plan really nice and fast than other possibilities!! Considering nowadays exist many air company low cost too so you can travel by plane and also have a cheap travel as well!!So you can come to your destination without many hours of travels!! Also airport and their services normally are good so when you are waiting to take your plane you can do something and just wait for it!!

I wouldnt say i'm bored with planes - I find them interesting and somehow when i fly i end up sitting with interesting people (yay me!) so i find it fun. I also find that if i take the time to look and book ahead for a flight i can get them at the same prices as a couple years ago if not better. But it takes time and planning to actually get the decent price. If youre going to only book a couple weeks a head and not bother to check a couple months in advance of course ur going to be paying a higher price. I fly out of a small international airport - the packing rules are a tad tedious but i dont find it very long to get through the security... small airport maybe 5 or 6 people waiting ahead of me...busy times maybe 20...i get there early just in case. At the larger airport when i fly there i find i just make sure im there earlier and they are really helpful about the packing thing...if you goofed on the size of a bag they do give u the correct size...wrong size bottle well u gotta toss it. I find the easiest is leaving my stuff where i go so then i dont have to worry about taking it the next time.

i never by plane still now, because my hometown is far away from airport,so we often by train or by bus to everywhere.i don't think it is bored on any trpe of transport, but it is too tired, every year, i will go home by train form my working city, nearly should be spend nineteen hours on train,we always state at 3:00pm and arrived at 8:00 am, during the night, no views can be sea. so i often listening some music, reading some magazines or some interesting books.of course, eating some food accompany.after 10:pm, lights cut down, i will have a wonderful sleeping until next day morning.so traveling on train isn't bored but a litter tired.

Hi Maxine, I think that traveling by plane is the only way to go to many places. To most places, I would add. I don´t like either the restrictions (some of them are really dumb) nor the excess money one has to pay for them (that money doesn´t go to the air companies). But I couln´t even go to some of the places in my own country if it weren´t for planes. I don´t imagine myself sitting in a bus for over 24 hourse to go someplace you can reach in a jiffy by plane.
