My own personal feeling is that Religion like marriage and family is an Institution devised by man to regulate the society and its behavior. In the olden days people were just coming out of a barbaric existence and moving towards civilization, when they needed some kind of a guidance which was provided by the leaders . Man began by worshiping nature since nature was all powerful against he fury of which he had no power....But as things stand today Religion has become all powerful with its leaders trying to gain importance and power and instigating their followers to hate and divide. So is such a institution necessary? Or does it need some reforms? I am sure as time goes by it will indeed change according to the needs of the society - what are your views?

To me religion is absolutely necessary Kiran. I believe it gives stability and peace to the individual.I also abide by the principles propounded in my religion. I do not think too deeply about religious heads and leaders and do not get involved in this. As such I follow simple rules and believe in the basic principles of Vaishnavism that teaches absolute surrender to God.
We do have a head and a deep analysis is likely to get me into trouble. [however, I am also unaware if they are promoting hate and division within communities; ignorance is bliss and I do not interatct with them on a regular basis. Once the necessary ritual is done that is it and after that I am not in regular touch with heads].I will not rebel and talk too much about that because it is wrong as prescribed in our religious text.I would rather not apply my mind to it and as I said I would not want to know.I will just do my duty and pass my life without complications. But I agree that where money is then power and corruption are likely to be. It is a bit like politics as far as I am concerned.
Have not see you at all. How are you?

Hi kala, thank you so much for your views
, I have been around kala, I think you too have been busy...Regarding your views, I can very well understand how you feel about it. I think most people have the same feeling about religion on a personal level. But on a broader level, it has many more implications which are far reaching...

Hi Kiran!
Your views are radical and I support your views. Actually, to follow a religion is a matter of personal choice and it will vary from person to person. It is difficult to make understand those who do not follow a religion and those who follow it follow it with full passion. Religion basically is tool to make ourselves feel at peace and a way to connect ourself with the Supreme Power. It is upto us, how do we want to make use of it.

Yes deepak I agree with you, but that tool is being misused now and has become a dangerous weapon which is being used to create disharmony.I feel that if an individual listens to his/her concience it is more than enough to put one in the right path..

I know some people manipulate religion to their advantage and misue it, but I think for that matter people are themselves to be blamed, why cannot they be strong, so that they are not taken for a ride in the name of religion.

Hi Kiran, I share your view that religion is man made to regulate others behaviour and I also believe that religion is followed in a blind fashion without questioning it. It's not just today where religion has become all powerful with corrupt leaders, look at the continual historic persecution of the Jews. How can anyone follow the Protestant creed in England which was brought to the country just so Henry VIII could divorce a Catholic wife and the way that the masses were supposed to change from Catholicism to Protestant over night or face persecution. There are hundreds of examples that show that religion is man made and the world would be a better place without the intolerance it promotes.

Hi thea, thanks a lot for your views regarding religion
.I agree with all your views. Religion is man made and there is no doubt about it. the very fact that Historians are able to trace its birth shows that it is man made. It has evolved along with man's evolution ...

Hi thea,
we have had many such discussions in the pat and the topic no doubt is touchy. we have had members going hammers and tong, but all in all they all cool down. It is but natural that one gets carried away. I can tell you that most members are very level headed and are able to discuss such matters in a very practical manner...

Hi Kiran, the problem here with mylot is that I'd decided not to respond to anything like this which might be considered controversial but when something is actually interesting like this I can't resist. I thought it would be taken over by devout Christians asking how you could write in such a blashemous manner. Good to see intelligent responses.

Yes, it serves as a guiding principles in your life. Righteous living is so good even you are experiencing trials of your faith. Some times bad things are coming to the righteous people to make them strong like the diamonds came from the simple carbons to the great pressures in spaces of time they became a diamonds and they are precious and so hard. Living on revisionary state or the Earth life we are like carbon if we endure to the end walking in the straight and narrow path leading to the God's presence is life a diamond and we feel the great love of God and reward are mansions in Heaven. We experience weakness in this Earth to become meek and humble in life. And always remember God as our Savior and Friend.

Hi Bradpete, Thanks a lot for your response. However I do not agree with your views simply because there are people who are very strong and righteous inspite of not following any religious beliefs and at the same time there are many highly religious preachers who are extremely cruel and do not care about people from other religion and incite their followers to indulge in activities that are inhuman and definitely not what can be termed 'Religious' or Godly...
