I lost my job :(

I am back after a long depression that hit me after losing my job due to the recession. I am the sole provider of my family and it is school day this June for 5 of my kids and I don't have a job. It's so hard. I am not that young anymore and I am worried I won't get a job soon which I really need. I am so desperate..I don't know what to do..I don't look old but my age does.. Even if I want to be positive I keep getting depressed which I am trying to avoid.. I have been at my previous job for 4 years and 2 months and it was like a home away from home. It was so hard to leave...45 of us were included in the lay off and it was so sad to leave all my friends and to depart from them. I'm so worried on how else can my family survive without me having a job. It's so sad.

I can well understand how you are feeling now. There are hopes that this recession will soon be over , and the business sectors will recover. That will create opportunities for employment. We are all looking forward to that. You can then find a job that you well deserve and do well. So, don't be depressed. I am sure you will do well. I wish you the best to find a good job !

I am so sorry to hear this. I am thankful everyday that our company is expanding. However we are about to merge with another large telecommunication company and this could mean layoffs so I hope everyday that it is not my department. My daughter is diabetic and I really need the health insurance.

Thanks...We also have a health card on my previous job and I have until end of June to use it and I do need it for my kids too and my self since I am suffering from scoliosis. I hope you don't get into the same fate I had with my job.

I lost my job last November. I have been unable to find a new job. I agree it is depressing. It is hard to be hopeful when the job market is so bad. I had been at my job for over 5 years. It was hard to leave my friends. I keep looking for a job. I have turned in so many applications. We can only keep trying to find new jobs.

I have been jobless for so long I can't remember. Right now, I have my family on two different houses, one owned by my brother and the other owned by my sister-in-law because I cannot afford to bring my family together. I hope that things will change and that we could be together again.

Depression! Its caught a lot of people in it. Along with you I stand. Losing my job coming june end or start or july since our process is closing down due to depression. With just being married and my wife still looking for a job in this new place its difficult. Plus rent and all the bills to top it all. This depression gets me frustated thinking of whats gonna happen. My wife is my courage. I keep applying for jobs. Just hope for the best for each other. Best of luck to you in getting a new job.

That is sad, and I can't imagine how hard it is for you. I know it isn't much, but I'll be praying for you. Are you looking for a job with insurance, or just a job period? Health insurance is so important, so most of the people I know looking for a job have to have one with benefits. Let us know your progress. I hope you'll find something wonderful. Something that is a complete and wonderful surprise.

Do you have temporary service agencies where you are? They send you out for short assignments, a day to several months. When I'm well enough to work, that's what I do. Can you take in children to babysit? What about a job share, where someone works the job 2-3 days a week and you work the rest? I know a little of how you feel, I lost my job 6 months ago. My children are grown but I'm all alone here so I don't have the pressures that you do. Have you tried writing articles, doing surveys or the tasks here at myLot while you're looking for a job? I wish you luck.

Nope we don't have temporary service agencies here. Yes I can babysit but it is not something people do here in the Philippines. People here mostly have people to take care of their kids. Job share I don't know of. I have been doing some online stuffs but it is not that big and it won't get me anywhere. I have 7 mouths to feed, 5 kids to put to school and loads of house bills to pay. I do hope we do have those temp jobs I will be first in line if we do have those here.

I just wanted to stop in and say hello and that I am sorry you have been laid off. I hope you can find ways to make sufficient money soon. Try mowing lawns or gardening, or offering services such as sewing. These things are simple and the latter can be learned online if not the former as well. I hope you can find a way to get more income soon.

Thanks..We don't have people asking to mow their lawns or sewing. People here in our country do their own stuff without asking for others help.

I hope you're feeling better about this by now. I would have to say Unemployment first, then state assistance, then keep on looking for something. At least that way while you're looking you won't end up homeless. Best of luck to you.

With not working for a month now I am getting more depressed than ever. Although I don't show it to my family I have this big worry sign over my head and I don't know what to do.I am trying all my best to look for a job but it seems the jobs are not opening doors for me.I hope I find one real soon before I ran out of money to spend for my family.

It has been 2 months since I lost my job and still no luck..Losing hope here. My money is gone from applying for a job and used for our daily needs.. We don't have what you call state assistance and unemployment here in the Philippines.I have tried to look even online but no luck for me..I am so losing hope...If I don't get a job real soon I won't have anything to feed my family or to put my kids to school. I just hope and pray.

I know what you mean. I've been there. It WILL get better. for now I'd just keep trying everything possible, even if it's something you really don't want to do. Just until you can find something better. You should seriously try to get state assistance and unemployment though. There's nothing wrong with getting help. I really do know how you feel. You need to be tough on the outside but inside your heart is breaking. Look for online work too, even if it's something that isn't paying much, atleast it will be something. If you want some links to sites I've been paid by please private message me. It's not much but it will help. Every penny counts.

Depression is common when such a loss happens and being that you were at your job for so long it does become another family so it is like a dealth. Allow your self to mourn a bit but then you must work at getting yourself up every day, dressing for "work" and making your new full time job, finding a job. I have also been out of work since February. I spend most of my days now, signing up for mystery shopping, ebay selling, signed up for every virtual assistant job around, submitting resumes, networking, and calling everyone I can remember from old jobs to see if they have heard anything. I currently live in Cape Coral Florida which just announced yesterday that we are number 3 in the Country with unemployment. Not too good to find a job around so Ihave to fill in the gaps where I can. I did just contract out a sales job for a website. It is commission only but I can do everything fomr emails and phone so that helps keep the costs down. Keep your chin up and I know it's hard. There were days that I didn't even want to get out of bed. Just know it's not you. That was the biggest thing for me to get over. It has affected so many people. It's nothing that you did or didn't do. It is what it is unfortunately. Keep on mylot and we will all support you.
