Do you ever have trouble keeping up with your things?

I sure do! It seems like the older I'm getting the worse I'm getting. I will put something down and then the next minute forget where it was I put it. This is so frustrating, isn't it? The main things I have trouble keeping up with are my car keys, my cell phone, and my glasses. I have a special place where I hang my car keys when I get home. However, sometimes I will lay them down somewhere and forget where I put them. This is especially aggravating before I start to go somewhere. I've learned to call my cell phone to see where I put it. As far as my glasses, I don't have any way of calling them to see where I put them, LOL. The only thing I know to do when I put my glasses down is to make a mental note of where I put them. I used to have a time keeping up with my check book. I lost a check book one time and had to change my account number, etc. I also had to call the social security to tell them I had a new account number, as I get my SSI check through direct deposit. I keep my check book in my desk drawer now so I'll know where it is everytime.

Surprisingly, I do also have problems with thsoe three things: Keys, glasses and cellphones. Once, I have lost my glasses in my office and it was eventually lost. My cycle keys are also one to make me trouble but now, I have only three places where I keep them, my pocket, computer table or where I use to hang it! For cellphone, this is very difficult for me to keep up with it jus because I have an option of calling it and finding! The problem occurs when I have put it on silent mode! LOL

I hardly ever put my cell phone on silent mode. That way, if I lose it, I can always call it. Like I said in my discussion, I have a special place where I hang my car keys in the house but I have put them down somewhere just before I started to leave and forgotten where I put them. This isvery frustrating, especially if I'm in a hurry. There's no telling how many pairs of glasses I've lost. I believe I left the last pair of prescription glasses I had at the assisted living facility where I go to sing once a month. That was the last time I remember wearing them, anyway. Nobody who works there or lives there ever found them, though. There's no telling what happened to them. I need to be careful and not leave them at places like this any more. In the meantime, I have some little reading glasses I can wear. Kathy.

I need a little pouch or bag to wear on my shoulder for the phone. Clipping to the belt just causes me to lose it.

Having a bag is better than clipping. I am planning to use it in my life too! Cyrus: Did you use two kind of glasses?

You are so right! I need to get more organized. I have a big house, though, and it's easy to lose things in it. As I told one of the mylotters, I will sometimes go to a particular room and forget what it was I went in there for. Have you ever done that? Kathy.

My mom is suffering from Alzheimer’s and its getting worse or better from time to time so as it is I am too scared that I might contact it some day…so I make a special effort to remember where I put my things. Its not that even then I don’t forget…simple things like where I kept the duster…you know I’m dusting and there’s somebody at the door and I go and answer and we talk for sometime and then I forget where I had kept that piece of cloth! And the keys…OMG an eternal problem. I think they should make keychains with receptors you know…like the mobile…I’ll just ring and the damned bunch would beep its presence

Oh my God, I have a bad memory. I keep milk on the gas stove forget it and it spills on the gas. Apart from wasting milk, I have to clean the gas stove. I open the fridge and forget for what I opened the fridge. This forgetfulness has no end. I do not know how to come out of it.

It looks like spilling milk on the stove would be dangerous. I don't have a gas stove, though, so I don't know that much about them. My stove is built inside a cabinet. Have you ever gone to a particular room in the house and forgot why it was you went in there? I've done this! I've also opened the refrigerator and forgotten what it was I was looking for. I think it's just a normal sign of aging.Kathy.

Hi there Cyrus! Oh, tell me about it. I have really bad memory. My mom said that really happens to women who give birth. She said it has something to do with the anesthesia that is being used in delivery. I even ask my husband a question and after a few minutes, I'll ask him again. It's really bad also when I meet new people and the next time I see them, I already forgot their name and sometimes even their face especially when I'm not wearing my eyeglasses. Eye-mind coordination, lol.

I didn't know this happened to women who give birth. I don't have any children so I never have had this experience. I never heard my mother or my sisters complain of this. This is interesting. It might depend on the person. I think I've heard of people being forgetful after surgery due to the anesthesia. I don't know. Don't worry because I have trouble remembering people's names after I meet them, too. I didn't have this problem when I was younger. When I went off to college in the '70s, I met so many people up there and that's when I started having problems. I know faces but not names. Thank you for responding and happy mylotting. Kathy.

Hehe cyrus, you are same like me. May be i.e is not due to the age. I am just 21 and still I have many many such experiences. And yes especially with the keys. Let me share you what happened once. I with my friend entered my room. We always had the system of locking the doors. I just opened the door, and we started doing our work. As it was our exam time, we studied. Finally when it was the time to leave, I started searching the key, here and there but worthless. I searched wherever it is possible and my friend helped me too. Finally after searching for about half an hour, I just led my friend go his home. Then again I returned back to room. As I put by hand inside my pocket, there was the very key I was searching for lol lol lol...hehehhehehehehhe..... I think I haven't learn from that mistake, I still forget where did I actually put the key with a second. Not only key but many other things too hehe...May be because I think too much and that's why I don't become conscious in small things. But doing in some important things, I think no one is more conscious like me. But the minor things I always forget... Many times, it has happened that I issue the book from the library and forget to take the book. Go to make some photocopies, take the photocopy with me but forget the original..hehe this happened few times again and again in my life... i think I should really learn to concentrate on small things too... Interesting discussion... happy mylotting...

Hehe...I know that was really funny. When I told my friend, it was inside my pocket then he told me stupid, fool lol.... No, let's hope the older I get, the better I become. I am learning to be careful at small incidents too. I think this will help me to get rid of these things... happy mylotting...

This is so funny about you and your friend searching for half an hour for your keys. Then, him going home and you sticking your hand in your pocket and finding them, lol. I've done things like this, too. I think you just get worse the older you get. I don't think I've learned from my mistakes, either! Thank you for responding and happy mylotting. Kathy.

If I do not hang my keys up immediately on the hook inside my door, I lose them. It is a huge key ring, full of keys to my clients' apartments as well as other things. I do not take a step without my glasses, so the only chance I have of losing them is at bed time or if I take them off to shower. Cell phone is another issue. I can call it, but only if it is on. It is not as important to me as some other things as I do not want it to rule me. I only use it if I have to. Fatigue as well as age affects the losing of things.

I believe this is very true! Fatigue as well as age affects losing things. As far as fatigue, I work out everyday and that keeps me from tiring as easily. I try to keep my glasses and cell phone with me at all times. I still sometimes put them down and forget where it was I put them. It's very frustratng, isn't it? Kathy.

Hello, Kathy,we all forget things, you don't have to be worried about it,it's nothing serious,as we come across new things everyday,so we have to throw some old things~~ Though I'm only 23years old,I find it's so hard to keep up with my things, but I don't take it as a serious problem~~LOL

I'm not worried about it or anything. I don't take it seriously, either. It can get pretty frustrating, though!Yes, I'm aware that we all forget things but it gets worse the older you get. What's so frustrating about it is that you can be starting to go somewhere and you try to make sure you have everything you need. You realize you're missing one little item and it takes you forever to find it.When you finally do find it, you end up being late to wherever it was you're going. I know young people are forgetful sometimes. I'm also aware that forgetfulness is a normal sign of aging but there is alzheimer's in my family, too, and you tend to think about that as well. Kathy.

There are times I do!! I hate it! I feel being incapable and useless whenever I do a mess, although I know we get to mistakes.. When I get panic and I have to do a lot of things and I have to comply with that I sometimes having trouble to track things and ended up forgotten something and miss some important things to work on.. Well I guess it's normal, isn't it? Well, with that, I try to focus my mind with what should I do and try to list down things so I could follow what will be the next thing to do..

Yes, I think it's normal, especially the older you get. It doesn't do any good to panic, though. That just makes things worse. It gets frustrating for me, especially when I'm in a hurry. It's a good idea to focus your mind on what you're doing and list things, like you said. Thank you for responding and happy mylotting. Kathy.

I do too! If I am in a hurry to get out the door, I can forget almost everything that I need for the day! I have a horrible habit of looking for my keys when they are in my hand, and my glasses when they are on my nose! My kids think it is hilarious, but I am telling you, it can get pretty frustrating.

I feel sorry for your sister. Bless her heart. I believe I've been scatter brained all my life, too. I've just gotten worse since I've gotten older, lol. I don't worry about it that much but it can get frustrating at times. My mother had alzheimer's and I tend to think about that occasionally. I think it's just a normal sign of aging, though. Kathy.

Yes, it's very frustrating! I have left myself notes but I still forget them, anyway. It might be a good idea to stick them on the mirror like you do. I used to leave myself notes on my calendar on my cell phone. That way, it would constantly remind me that I need to do these things. I have a new cell phone now and I've left myself notes on it. It doesn't alarm like my old cell phone did unless I just don't know how to use it. Kathy.

We are exactly the same. I also forget where I left my stuff all the time. Sometimes, it is embarrassing. But most times, it just makes me feel annoyed with myself. I hate it when that happens. I am still young and I am already forgetting stuff like these. What more if I grow old already? I joke with my friends sometimes that I need to start taking memory enhancement pills. :)

This is so funny! This reminds me of a story one of my daddy's friends told him one time. He said he asked the doctor if he could prescribe some medicine for him to help his memory. Well, he (the doctor) did and he got caught for driving on the wrong side of the road. I thought it was funny at the time. My mother was the one who told me the story and the reason why I thought it was so funny was because I thought she was going to say he started remembering things from way back, lol! It sounds like it did the complete opposite. Kathy.
