Finally I have decided that my love to Astrid will be placed here together with a review about The Children of Noisy Village. A story I have grown up with. Sorry if the names are not correct for you, but theses are the original names. In Noisy Villige there is three houses - Norrgården, Mellangården and Sörgården. Anna and Britta lives in Norrgården, Lisa, Lasse and Bosse lives in Mellangården and Pelle and Kerstin lives in Sörgården. The book is about the how the children live their lives in the early 1900's in a small villige in Småland, Sweden. They joy of having each other, the animals and families. Like all of Astrids books it's focused at the children and their feelings. Unlike many other of Astrids books Noisy Village is happy, there is no evil things except a very angry shoemaker... The warmth and passion for the child Astrid was known for shows very clear in all her books. Even if she never ment anything special writing them, but the love to the child in her shines in every single word she ever wrote for me especially in this book. This book is a dream for many children of today - living with their families and have great friends and a lot of animals around them. The illustrations are made by Ilon Vikland, a woman that have illustrated Astrids books since 1954, and she has done them so well This is not a bookreport, I know that this isn’t the right place to put this text, but for me it’s very important to write these lines in memory of one of the greatest writers ever Astrid Lindgren. Astrid Anna Emilia Ericsson was born November 14 1907 in Vimmerby, Småland Sweden. She was one of four children to Samuel August Ericsson and Hanna born Jonsson In 1931 she married Sture Lindgren and became Astrid Lindgren. She has given birth to two children Lasse (1926) and Karin (1934). 1941 was her most famuos child born Pippi – the girl that is known by so many of the people on the eatrh. And when she was 44 years old her husband died and she stayed alone for the rest of her life. Today it’s hard to understand that no one wanted to publish the first book about Pippi, but it took time(1947). She never gave up and now she has written 88 books. Astrid was Sweden, and Sweden is in sorrow a day like this. She wrote about the life in Sweden in the beginning of the 1900’s, about the evil and the good and she wrote it so both children and adults would understand. Her books were translated to 86 languages and are read all over the world, they have sold in over 130 million copies and are still translated into more languages. Lotta, Pippi, Ronia, Mio, all the children in Noisy Village, Lionheart, Madicken and my personal favourite Emil they were all a part of my childhood and they are a part in my childrens childhood too. Another part of Astrid were very involved in the rights of the children and animals, she fought for giving children a better life and she made it! Many of her books have been movies here in Sweden and Emil and Saltkråkan are the ones I love the most. Monday January 28 2002 10.30 am Astrid passed away in an age of 94 years old. This is just a few lines to tell the world that I will miss Astrid, but even if her body is gone her spirit will be here, because she’s living in every child in the world and her books will be read over and over again.

When I was a child I loved the books by Astrid Lindgren and I have read them several times. Many of them have been made into movies, and I loved the movies, too. Pippi Longstocking was one of my favourite characters. Here in Denmark we have a festival called Fastelavn and on this day the children dress up and party. I always wanted to dress up as Pippi Longstocking, because I really admired her. I also liked the books about Emil of Lönneberga very much, and I always asked my grandmother to read them aloud to me.
