I won't be using a converter box this June 12th - 2009, because of the hassle, and I currently don't receive cable or satellite TV because of the expense. Are there any people on mylot who also won't be using a converter box to receive TV channels? And has the converter box been a hassle for you too?

Well unless you already have cable or satellite, you will not get ANY signal.

Where I live you have to have satellite or cable since there are no local stations nearby so we have satellite and don't have to worry about the conversion to digital. But, as I understand it, if you don't have satellite or cable television and you don't use a converter box, you won't be able to watch television at all.
