I always walk my dog on a leash. But I do notice some people let there dogs run free. So what do you do?

well i got my dog on leash when he is out for a walk i cannottake a risk when he is been to walk without it and then he will be bullied by 10 dogs walking and waiting when the leash will be thrown out of my hand then they would have a one on one fight with my dog which my dog is good at. He just slipped twice or thrice from my hands and it was a tough time making him understand to come back and stop fighting like a urchhin there.

We have our property walled in so our dogs can run and play but can't get out. If we walk them it is on leash . I think it's wrong to let them run , there are too many dangers . We live in Mexico where there are alot of street dogs on the roads. Sometimes you see chickens walk down the road . A neighbor let our oldest dog out of the gate the other day and she seen a goat and chased the goat into the ocean . The goat swam out far . I didn't know goats could swim . Thank God our dog didn't catch the goat, and we got her back in the yard before anything else happend .

Although my dogs are good and walk beside me without the leash I always put the leash on them, obviously if out for a walk in the field then I let them off but when down the village and going home they are always on the leash...LoLo

we live in the country so the dog gets to run free most of the time.hen we let the ducks out the dog goes in and when the ducks go in we let the dog back out. other wise he would be chaseing the ducks every where and we can not have any of that.

I have large dogs, Bouviers the male is 134 lbs weighed by vet for heart worm. When I take them for a walk I always have a leash on them on sidewalks or just about everywhere. When I take them in an open feild I take the leash off when we r alone. When people or other dogs r around the leash is back on, for their protection as well as others.. REMEMBER ALWAYS LUV YOUR DOG/ PET , THEY WILL ALWAYS LUV U.. KEEP THEM SAFE

It depends on my mood and in the place where my dog and I at. If the place calls for me to put him on a leash or unleash him, then I would do just that. If I jog, of course I let him run free with me.

This is a really good discussion, since I am sure there are a lot of people out there who have pets especially dogs,so they have to go outside to use the bathroom or else they end up peeing and pooping all over the house,I am sure that people have different opinions on taking dogs out, some people probably think you should take them out on a leash so that way they do not run off,and then I am sure there are some people who think that you should just let them run free,so they can do their business and go where they want without you having to be there with them, and I can understand the different opinions,we have two chihuahuas, and when we take them out one of them is always on a leash because he likes to run off in the woods and it is hard to get him back, and since there are coyotes out there,we do not want him to get eaten, and the other one would not go on a leash so we just let him run around, but someone is always outside watching him,and if someone calls he always comes, even if he runs off,he always comes back when someone calls his name, even though they have a bad habit of peeing and pooping in the house,so my mother has to put towels down but they do seem to pee and poop on the towels, have a great day, good luck with your life, and all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

We keep her on a leash, but some dogs don't need them. My sister's little Boston doesn't need one. He just sticks with her.

I always leash my dog when I bring her for walks. I feel it is safer and more secured in control. I had ever seen an incident which shocked me. One guy was chasing and running after his dog while the dog ran all around and even dashed across the road where there were cars passing by. It was so dangerous, to the dog, to the owner, and to the drivers who was passing by.

It depends what your dogs like, if it has a tendency to run away then keep it on a leash, lol simple. or if you take it for a walk where their are other dogs then keep it on a leash too because some dogs may attack your dog !

We have a fenced in patio area behind our house so we let the dog go outside by himself. He can go out alone in front of the house without a leash and won't leave the yard. He's an older dog and sticks close to home. When we take him to the vet or for a walk, he's on a leash.

Off the property they are on leashes. I usually leash them in the backyard as well since it isn't completely closed in. My hubby lets them run free in the backyard but occasionally the smallest (youngest) one takes off and won't come back.

Our dogs run free on the ranch but are controlled by electronic collars. Mine is a hound and once she gets a scent she follows no matter what, this can get her into big trouble, skunk for one, so we need a powerful way to recall her.

I do not have a dog but I think if I did I'd be slightly frightened of letting it out without a leash. I think dogs need a lot of attention and looking after and therefore it'd probably be quite dangerous letting it roam around without a leash, unless your dog is very well trained and you can trust it to not get itself in any sort of trouble.

My dogs are not with leash because they are wild if I leash them.I let them go around and they are free wherever they are. When I go out they used to accompany me but I told them to go back at home. Its enjoyable to wal;k with dogs they are man's best friend. Seems they are truely friend to me.
