Who is your favorite politician that lived during your life? It doesn't have to be a president or someone high up.

I'd have to say.. Barack Obama. Why? Simply because he isn't doing what everyone else has done. He's different. And I like that.

It's better than conforming to the norm. :)

I agree with some of Obama'a change, but I don't agree with the change to a bigger government.

Different is not always good.

I don't doubt what we were taught about RR or any other president for that matter is not entirely correct. I was very young while he was in office, but I found him as a man ineresting

Reagan started with an acting career and, it seems, was elected at one point of being the President of an Actors Union. before becoming Pres. he was California's Gov. Some say, and I would agree, the Reagan's biggest acting role was President. I just search you tube and nothing was posted, but their Reagan skits were chilling, as well as funny.

Ronald Reagan. He made more sense than any president during my lifetime, and he had a personal charm that made it that much better. It's not often you find a politician that makes sense, much less does it with humor and a gentle spirit.

My favorite politician was our Congressman when I became a citizen of the United States. His name is Paul Findley and he was great. He was beaten in an election by now Senator Durbin from Illinois. Durbin beat Paul with loads of campaign money that came from out of state Jewish people because Paul had suggested that the USA talk to Yasser Arafat so we would know what the man wanted - the Jews didn't like that idea so funded Durbins campaign heavily. But then guess what - when Bill Clinton was President and they wanted someone to meet with Arafat - who went - you got it Paul Findley. He was a great Congressman and an equally great human being.

He has been out of Congress for a long time - he is well into his eighties now but occasionally writes articles for the local newspaper. He wasn't well known nationwide but he sure was in Illinois

I've never heard of him. Is he well known in your state?

The politicians who wtood for helping our nation walk into the "proud sunshine of civil rights" - - like Hubert Humphrey speaking about civil rights to the Democratic National Convention - - in 1948... Senator Ev Dirksen helping pass the Civil Rights Laws and paying a price... The modern Senators who fight for disabled persons rights, from Ted Kennedy to DeConcini to Jesse Helms. Others who fight to get unpopular truths out into the open ... And a man who brought these all together despite his failings... Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia!

Bob Dole was also an advocate for the disabled.

I agree, civil rights are extremely important. I find that Obama isn't doing enough to support basic equality in our society.

You gotta love the good old double RR. Reagan Smash! Ronald Reagan was not only the best president, but I believe the best PERSON in the United States. Everybody in my family loves Reagan, what a great person he was.

I am sorry to disappoint you but not everyone would agree. By the way, I cannot stand either Republican nor Democrat. I know that "they" changed the name of National Airport to Reagan Airport but I lived through those times, and was not impressed with RR. Please itemize some qualities you think great attributed to RR? and perhaps convince others?

Congressman Ron Paul on the national level. On the state level, Dan Itse, Herb Richardson, Bill Remick, at least in my own district.

This may sound odd, especially these days, but one President I admire is George W. Bush. He did what he believed was right rather than what was popular. He didn't let opinion poles sway him. It takes a strong man to be able to stand his ground when he's being shot at from every angle.

Well I'm in my fifties and it wasn't till 1992 when Bill Clinton became President that I found my favorite all time politician. President Obama will be my second favorite.

I would say Jesse Ventura, with Ron Paul in a close second. Jesse did and said a lot of things many others were either afraid or unwilling to say. I'm also in accordance with many of his positions. I especially like the fact he gave the citizens of Minnesota a check when the state had a surplus during his tenure as governor, instead of keeping it to spend it on what ever program he saw fit. He has something both liberals and conservatives like and absolutely hate. But most of all, he is honest. He says what he believes, when he believes it, despite the risks, and does not apologize. To bad his chances of being President are slim to none.
