coming over? We have just received a welcome if uninvited person around the dinner hour. Do you divide the food up for the extra visitor, or make something extra. As it is, my hubby is cooking this evening and it looks like we will have enough.

When guests arrive around the dinner hour, I usually try to include them. Often there is something that I can find in the kitchen to make more food for dinner even if a meal is already underway. Sometimes, we are lacking in food worthy of serving to guests so I wind up suggesting we order pizza or something. I like to cook, however, and people do not often complain about what I prepare.

That seems to happen every time we have pizza be it homemade or delivery..seems my husbands niece has a nose for it and cake and if either is fixed she is here and and so she is offered some as soon as she eats it she leaves..it happens often..she lives right next door..

That used to happen to me often. How I dealt with it depended on what I was making and how far along the meal was. If I was just starting it, it would be simple enough to do another potato or two, or to add to a salad, or even change methods to stretch the meat. If the meal was already well underway, I'd make another side dish and maybe something like bread and butter or something like pickled beets.

Yes. I sure have. I have split everything up so there was enought o feed all of us. I usually have everything else frozen so it I would have to unthaw it before cooking it. I will throw on extra if we have it ready though.

Hello ersmommy. Usually it is my second sister-in-law who sometimes comes for dinner in our house, but she will call to let us know so that we can get prepared for the dinner. If she makes a late call, we will prepare to cook some more rice and dishes than we prepared in advance.

I don't normally get uninvited guests. I think it would depend on who they are. If they were someone I didn't like (such as my in laws who were terrible for coming over uninvited) I'd find a way to get them to leave before we ate. If I did like them, I'd find a way to feed them. Normally I have plenty of extra's, my family loves to eat so I cook enough for each of us to have huge helpings.

I would probably just add an extra side side to the meal to help it stretch a little farther. I guess it depends on what was being served. Most things can be stretched a little farther.
