In preparation for my wedding, lately I've been practicing dieting so that I will lose those unwanted flab. I never skip a meal, but I lessen my carb intake. I only eat bread for breakfast, heavy lunch, and no rice for dinner... It work for me... In the span of 4wks I lost 6lbs. Yey! I hope these idea can help others who are also dieting. And can I also ask for other advice to lose more yet healthy? thanks! Happy MyLotting!

That is a nice and healthy way of losing weight. Congratulations on your diet success and wedding. I am glad you did not do all those fad diets that are usually unhealthy. Lessening carbs are always very effective in losing weight as my doctor said. You can also exercise, like simply running on the threadmill 30 minutes three times a week. I think I will try your diet too. :)

Isn't the low carb diet just a fad diet too? Those diets will cause you a lot of health problems long term. For a short term weight loss goal maybe they work, but long term your body needs carbs.

@pigglies: yes I agree to your point, you really do need carbs. It what makes you move. I mean how will you perform exercise if you don't have something to burn to... maybe what she is trying to point out is lessen the carb, not skipping...

People always say rice is so fattening. But when I look at people in countries where rice is the main staple, I don't see an obesity problem. So I'm going to continue eating rice and cut out other types of foods. Currently I'm trying to lose weight by running and doing other exercises rather than by dieting.

I've usually heard the term "negative calories" in terms of foods that you lose more calories eating and processing than you gain from eating them. Celery is often referred to like that. If you only ate 125 calories for the whole day, then you'd definitely have burned them all off and then some even just sitting there. Walking isn't much exercise unless you're morbidly obese, in which case it works due to the weight being carried and that it is a lot of work for someone large to walk. But for the average sized person more exercise than walking is needed. I generally walk at least 1 mile per day just walking places I need to go because the parking is so far away, but it doesn't help me at all. You do have to exercise to burn more calories than you ate, but that doesn't mean you have to diet. For example, I usually eat 2,500 calories per day (I actually did measure this out before). So let's say I start exercising like crazy and burn 4,000 calories per day. Then I just started losing weight without dieting. The problem is, sometimes the more you exercise, the more you want to eat. Back when I didn't have a car, I rode my bicycle 100 miles a week. I could eat anything back then. I didn't lose weight constantly or anything, but I didn't gain either. If I ate like I do now back then, then I'd have been losing weight. Back then I ate much more. I know it takes discipline to lose weight. I lost 40 pounds before through diet and exercise. But this time I'm going to do exercise only since I'd rather lose weight a healthier way.

they have this term... I'm not quite sure, just correct me if I'm wrong... Negative Calories? Sometimes exercise is not enough, you have to do the diet as well. Let say you burn 100 Calories in your walking but the total calories you ate for the whole day is 125 Calories.. Still its not enough... What I'm trying to point out here is the discipline of loosing weight... Thanks for your comment though...:)

That is reall good for you. I think there are ways to lose weight but lately I dont seem to have the discipline to do good things for myself. I think there are sacrifices I need to make, but right now I dont seem to have the wherewithal to do it. I really need to do something different.

maybe what made it so successful to me is because I have a goal, which is my wedding. I suggest should have something that will motivate you to lose weight. let say you saw a dress/shirt that fit perfectly to a size 2 body, then work for it. Motivation teaches you discipline... Thanks for your comment!

wow a wedding...congratulations in advance...I'm having hard times with my diets but I'll try your techniques though...I think your method of diet is working for you so my advice is better stick to it..don't jump to other diet methods because sometimes having diets also have really bad effects when you overdo it...

I do diet myself before, what i did its just one bread, one egg and one juice in the morning breakfast. Plus one balance vitamins like centrum it is complete from vitamin A to zinc just to stay healthy and avoid being malnurish. During lunch time i eat only one cup of rice and one piece of meat or chicken or fish. I do not forget to do some exercises cause it burn fats fastest than you do. Just spend 30minutes to 2hours. I started to warm up my joint and do some jugging. Then rest for 10minutes and drink lot of water and go for some biking. At night eat enough dinner and take food supplement that its purpose is to lose weight. Thats better more than you did.

I'll do more that what you do in all my meals i don't take rice. But until now just like no pound was deducted to my weigh. Did your diet go with exercise or you enrolled in the gym. Because my friend told me that not only diet i should do i have to exercise daily .

Rice is really a big factor in putting on weight and will give you those unwanted flab. One thing that I find encouraging is that I stopped drinking soda for quite some time now. And it definitely helps lose those flabs.

I am trying to lose 25 pounds. I know I have to do like you and lessen the carbs. I also need to increase the amount of water that I drink. I have to do some exercises every day so I will reach my goal.

Congratulations on your weight loss. I never eat rice for dinner, so that wouldn't work for me:) My son is getting married in 4 weeks and I would be thrilled to drop a little weight before the wedding. Cutting the carbs is a good way.

That's really good. I'd like to add that you can use wheat bread and it would also be good if you can inject physical activities in your diet because this will help you lose weight faster. Drink lots of water too. Goodluck!

One of the best things you can do is make sure you are eating the right amount of food! It is very easy to overeat - that can add pounds and prevent you from losing. One of the bet things that I did was make sure my diet was balanced. By getting enough fruits and vegetables, I was eating foods that are low in calories - and getting proper vitamins and minerals. By getting enough fiber, I found that I wasnt hungry all of the time! The best thing you can do is change your eating habits instead of dieting. If you eat foods that you like but do it in such a way that you can lose weight, you will be able to continue that diet and maintain your weight at a good level. Then you never have to worry about losing weight again!

Yes, I agree... I forgot to mention that I also eat fruits (particularly pineapple and banana) and soy milk when I reach the office. Thanks for your comment and advice. God Bless!

Reducing carbs at dinner is a great thing to do! I eat most of my carbs at breakfast too. Jillian Michaels suggests only protein and veggies at dinner, no starch, no sugar. Some other tips: - NEVER skip meals, it sends your metabolism into the basement - No food after 9 pm - Exercise for an hour 4-6 days per week - Eat high-quality food: vegetables, lean protein, berries, legumes, low-fat dairy, eggs, almonds - Stay away from anything processed (i.e., it comes in a can, box or bag) - Stay away from high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats, artificial sweeteners - Eat protein at every meal, and good fats - Drink green tea instead of coffee or fruit juice - Eat fish at least 3x per week - wild caught Alaskan salmon is the best, canned salmon & tuna work too - Cut down on sodium - no canned foods, don't add salt to your food All these tips will help you lose some unwanted fat without compromising your health!
