One hour or three years ago ! Am confused.

I was about to write to a newbie, who had written about an hour ago and had one response. I clicked on her discussion to reply to her, and to my horrow, I read, 3 years ago beside it. Now I amj in a dilema. Do I reply to her discussion, or forget it, for if it is three years old, then her problem is most probably solved. So guys, have you ever noticed such a discrepancy in time with mylot. What do you do ?

I go ahead and reply to them anyway. It does not matter how old the discussion is. I get those quite often too. It does not matter if they have solved their problem or not because your response may still help even more.

If it said '3 years' at the top then that is when the discussion was started. Then if you saw '1 hour' by the lst response that is when it was posted. There is no mistake in that at all.

I've never come across the situation of the age of a discussion changing from one hour to 3 years... but if a discussion really is 3 years old I don't respond to it because the person may not even be on Mylot anymore, and I don't think we get paid for commenting on a discussion that is that old.

We get paid for all our own activity here. It makes no difference how old the discussion is at all. I am responding regularly on dicussions started three years ago that are coming back to life and I am still earning by doing so.

It could actually be very good to respond to something like that. The original writer may be long gone from here or have solved their problem, but your answer could help someone else! There is also the possibilty that getting the question up to the "top of the page" again, so to speak, will encourage the original writer to fill us all in on how their dilemma was resolved, again, potentially helping someone else. Answer away

Its a very sensible suggestion. How does one get the question on top of the page ? Ill do as you suggest and write to her. On second thoughts, Actually its about her love life. If it is three years old, the whole scene may have changed and Id look a fool. So Im back to square one. However such mistakes must not happen through mylot admin.

Some posts comes later into the scene and we can add our responses even if it too old as you said.Even if the posted member will not in need,it would help others with the same problem. After all, history repeats and somebody will be benefited. In addition we can earn for that.Cheers!

I have also come across a discussion that is 3 years old and that a reply is recently posted. I skip it as I do want my reply to be at least seen by the originator where a 3 year old topic is not going to attract his attention much.

Yes, the attention part is also right, but to answer to a discussion on a love life after three years seem stupid, for the whole scenario may have changed. So i'll stay put. Mylot should be a little more careful in such mistakes.

I think you actually saw a discussion that was responded an hour ago but the discussion was started way before that. I often don't mind responding to such old discussions if I have a good input, especially if there was no best response chosen (which generally still means that it's an "open" discussion). There's probably no time discrepancy on myLot, we might jut be misinterpreting the information they flash. Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

Sensible. More so the discussion was about her love life. If it is one hour old, fine, replying makes sense. If its three years old, heavens, the whole scenario may have changed. How then can I reply ?

I'm also find discussion started 3 years ago about game. That doesn't matter to me, as long as I attracted to the topic I'll write some sentences, because sometimes when other member search a discussion they may be find my answer. So, my contribution here not restricted by time. Whenever I want to response, I just do it, no second thought.
