For You or For Others?

When working on a new project, do you get more enjoyment out of creating something for yourself or something for others (as a gift, or otherwise)? Or does it depend on what you are working on, pattern wise, if it uses a pattern? I know I personally enjoy working on a piece of cross-stitch when it is NOT for myself, but rather for someone else to have as a gift in the upcoming holidays. But when it comes other crafts, I prefer to draw/paint/write for myself rather than others. Where do you stand? One side or the other, or in between the two?

I enjoy making gifts for other people. I do make things for myself, but I love to see other people's faces when they open gifts I give them. If the economy had hit me hard this year, so I have not been able to do much in the way of crafting. I am hoping to save some money and start buying the things I need in order to paint ceramic ornaments. I also hope to learn how to make jewelry so I can sell those as well. If anyone has any cheap Christmas ideas please share them with me. Thank you.

I really enjoy making things for others. It seems that I always have difficulties when I make anything for myself. I love making clothing, costumes for halloween, christmas decorations and toys. You can check out some of the things that I have made on my blog http://jedopi3bagswool.blogspot.com. I just started it a little while ago so I don't have too much there yet. Check back often to see if I have added anything new. I'm always working on something if I am not typing at the computer like right now.

I do alot of crafts as gifts....and for craft sales so I would say I enjoy doing them for others...If I am doing something for myself....which is very seldom it would be something I paint.

I prefer to create things for others. One of my hobbies is to make my own cards, some of them are for sale and some of them I use when I need a card for my family or my friends. People usually appreciate to get a homemade card, and I have my own style. I like to use pictures from old magazines and I like to combine the pictures in a funny or unusual way. My cards aren't as beautiful as the ones made by my mother-in-law, but they are unique, and I like to create cards for my family and friends.

Hi lwelizabeth, Everything I make seems to end up going as a birthday gift. Someone is always having a birthday around here , and it does come out pretty handy being able to make their gifts. What I mainly work on is beach crafts and we all live by the beach so everyone likes to display beach crafts . So far everyone has been happy with their gifts, and it's saving me money so thats good
