i hate it when that happens. it really annoys me. I spend my money on a bag of chips, and i expect it to be almost filled to the top. or i opened a bag of candy and i think the box should be cut in half. not to mention that is a waste of cardboard, and plastic for chip bags. so my question to you is, have you ever opened something to see that it was only half full or less than that? what did you think about it?

I did this last night- i opened a bag of Bobs's Texas Style Bar -B0Que potato chips ( which are my favorite tghin to munch on with a pepsi while watching a movie . I opened the bad and it was half empty . They erent that expensive i got the 8.5. oz bags two for $4.00 but io cant understand why they just cant fill the up more . Does a machine fill up the bag? Igf so why cant they just have it fill uit up higher..then it will be an even better for rthe money . My can sodas are always full , but sometines when i get a bottle from the vending machine it is not full...what is up with that?

hi both of you fellow mylotters.they are filled by machinery and its all automatic so if they set it to fill less than they should we do get cheated. not fair at all.

It's all marketing my friend. If it looks bigger and brighter, if it's able to catch your eye and hold it longer, then you are more probable to but it, whatever "it" might be. The key when buying packaged food at least, is to look at the weight. That has to be truthful. The bigger package might actually have less in weighed contents. Always look at the weight and you'll at least know if your getting a similar quantity to the other items on the shelf.

yesah i have. its annoying. i don't get why they make the bags that big! they need to add more chips or make them smaller. they make you think your getting more then what you really are and it's not right but that is just there way of trying to make more money i guess.

yes it happens to me one time...i bought a half gallon ice cream and really excited to have it for the family but to my surprise oh oh! its just half full...i really get annoyed and what i do is to return it to the store where i bought it... i think sometimes, we got this kind of stuffs due to some factory mistakes...maybe they should have a better quality control management...to avoid this kind of things...:-) and for the customers to be more satisfied...

I usually check things at the store when possible. If I find out once I get home of course I feel ripped off, than I just won't buy the product again. I just saw an article on the internet about how the stores are ripping us off by keeping things at the same price but you are getting less of the product. A bag of chips that is not see thru is usually filled with air. I buy tortilla chips in a see thru bag and its usually filled to the top.

yeah maybe i'll start feeling the bag to see how far it is filled up to, and whichever bag is filled the most, that's the one that i am going to pick.

hi lala oh my yes. I have had that happen to me with both potato chips and candy too now that you mention it.a large sack of candy and I thought oh this will be good for a long time.wrong. It was only half full. I am a diabetic and must keep hard candy on hand at all times in case of low blood sugar, it usually happens in the middle of the night so you need some sugar at once to bring it up then you can eat half of a sandwich or drink a glass of milk and you bring your blood sugar back to normal.Another thing about this half full stuff is that while they have shrunk the amount they sell to you, a lot of them have actually raised their darned prices. That is surely not fair. good discussion by the way.

It's doesn't bother me much because most things are sold by weight, but my Hubby goes off the wall about this very thing and the waste it causes.

i once bought some really expensive type crisps(chips) and i opened one of the packets up and there was nothing but about 4 crumbs in the bottom of it. i was so so shocked. i wasnt too bothered though because they stank and looked discusting anyway so it was all good =]

well in this country i have tried a new candy that is in the market. One thing i hate about this one is that almost 20% of the bag is just wrapper. candy wrapper when you opened it just air inside X-X. i always hate it when you think its the last one and saving it for later then suddenly poof.. nothing will not definitely buy it again

Yes! and it really is annoying and feels like you've been cheated big time. Knowing that you paid for the full prize then you'll get less it really is a form of cheating. I hope that there would be a law punishing all the cheaters out there.

It is annoying and usually it's for snacks like potato chips. That's what it means with packaging lies To attract more buyers, they use big packages and fool us to think there's more inside. Besides, with bigger packages they can fill it with more air and only fill half of it. Read the label and check the weight properly. Don't let the big size package fools you.

oh you bet. I often purchase a bag of nacho chips about 18 inches of size only to find out that its half-filled with air, so that's what they call air-tight nowadays, lol. Hello? Its not even worth the price, what's annoying, I love those chips and I have no choice but to get used to it. I'm not sure why they manufacture huge plastic bags and not atleast fill it upt0 85-90% of the supposed content. Natural consumption is not enough reason for the fact that you want a larger pack.

Yeah, I hear you! I used to get a little teed off about, then I read an article on merchandizing and food products. Found out that some foods are sold by weight only not on volume (they are different measures). Chips especially are sold by product weight, not volume. The extra packaging and air assure that not all of the chips are broken during shipping and handling. I've read the other responses where the packages were nearly empty or clearly missing product. I would have demanded a refund or would have wrote to the company that made and packaged the product. Then if there is no satisfaction, a letter to the editor of local newspaper and notification of the Better Business Bureau would be in order. For my own example is ice cream being sold here in the USA. Used to be sold by the half-gallon (2 quarts). I used to get 8 servings out of a container. Suddenly, a couple of years ago, I noticed I was getting only 5-6 servings per container. And the price had gone up slightly. Then I read the label: 1 and 1/2 quarts was the new contents and the price had been increase! Talk about a rip-off!! I really despise a company that will get a 'price increase' by reducing the amount of product from what it had been for years and still charging the same price!!!

I hate when that happens especialy if it was expensive. It happens to me all the time with chips and candy but it also has happend with lotions or any special creams that are a little expensive. And whe I get less than what I'm paying for I feel like returning the item. But I tried it ones with a lotion and they told me that I coud not because it was opend and that they were not able to get opend items. But how can we know if its not full with out opening it that is just rediculos. But thats how some big companys are making money and its sad that they have to rip us off like that.

It makes me so angry when I open up a bag of chips that I paid a good amount for and the bag's barely halfway full! It's ridiculous! I would like the amount of chips that I paid for. I paid for that packaging and if they reduced it the price might come down a little bit. It's such a waste to make all the packaging so big when the product doesn't take up the whole space inside.
