It is the summer time again. Cockroaches are roaming around in the house once again during this season around the trash can. I hate see them, and I will find every way to kill them all. There were some bug sprays can be effective. What is your recommendation on killing cockroaches in the house?

I live in a cold country so I don't get cockroaches here. I am a keen traveler and have seen them in Queensland in Australia. I remember seeing them in the kitchen at night. I would put the light on and they would move quickly. I think getting rid of rubbish often is necessary. I wouldn't want to kill them just use spray that bugs stay away from. Good luck.

you are lucky that you are living in a place cockroach-free. It's very very tough to get rid of them, because they produce rapidly. I don't see any reason why such nasty creature live for !

Nope I've been relatively cockroach free for years thanks to the roach baits which are much more effective than sprays--place the baits all around in the kitchen, even cabinets...if you have pets though, just make sure you place them where they can't get to them--most roach baits last for about three months--then can replace the baits with fresh ones

Cockroach are everywhere, they have lived for thousand of years, and we can't kill them all, no matter what we do.. Did you know that cockroach even if it has no legs, no arms, no body and it only has it head..it will just die because of hunger because it cannot feed anymore itself. The only thing we can do for our house and offices to have less cockroach is to clean it as always. Cleaning is the most effective way of driving them away..^_^

Did you know that most of homes have cockroaches? well even you make spray them they will still have a survivivor and that will have an anti-bodies to that kind of chemicals or sprays. well all you have to do is clean clean clean or the easy way and more effective "SLAP & SMASH" with your slippers.

I absolutely hate roaches and since I live in Miami I always see at least one once in a while. I've found that the two best methods are shoes or sprays. Shoes cause an instant kill although I don't advise throwing them, while sprays need to be focused on the pest for a moment or two. Happy hunting.

In my location corporation people spray pesticide and insecticide which is also effective in killing cockroaches. I sprinkle bleaching powder in the sink, toilet and the ditches. I even use laxman rekha which is too effective.

There is no cockroach at my home. I think it's because we usually clean up the kitchen. Maybe you should have a thorough clean-up, and throw away the things useless. And then you clean up the kithen everyday, i think you can kill all the cockroaches.

Just and idea to remember, it's actually a good sign if you see cockroaches, don't trust the fact that you haven't seen any that they aren't there. At my old place they would spray for bugs and the cockroaches would come out of the walls. I would have sworn up and down before that we didn't have them, but then after the spraying I was able to kill them and I knew for sure that their were none.

Yeah we have cockroaches in the house. They breed so fast that no matter what method we use to kill them, they keep showing up. It's more annoying when they fly and accidentally landed on me My cats seem to love them though. Maybe they find the cockroaches funny. They capture it and take it to me as hoping I will praise them. One of them, Kitty even eat it in front of me, eurghh~~~

I believe we have... ALthough I seldom see them. They're so filthy, and I go nuts seeing them. I had a bad experience back when I was still in highschool. I tried to put on a shoe with a cockroach inside. I was screaming at the top of my voice when my friends came in the room... and they ended up laughing coz I looked so funny... but to me, it wasn't :-(

We've been lucky to never have them in any of our houses. I know they can be extremely hard to get rid of. I've heard of using motels and sprays. I don't know which would work better. If you had the money I'd call an exterminator or maybe look for some kind of system for the house. I know they breed like crazy and once you have a couple you'll end up with a house full. We get tiny little ants every year. There's this stuff that looks like seeds out. We put it on the lawn all around the house to keep them out.

My sister, my daughter, my niece, and their friends are terribly afraid of cockroaches. They shriek at the sight of one. My daughter goes up the chair. My sister would wrap herself in a blanket. Whatever... the roaches must be terminated. Spraying with insect spray is not advisable. Will pollute the air. And have you noticed that the roaches now are weaker. Somebody said that they are mutating. The stronger ones might come later. Pray not. Smashing the roach with a broom is a good way to eradicate the pest. Mop the floor with disinfectant. The cleaner the house the lesser pest.

I forgot the name of the stuff that I used to faint those cockroaches one year ago. They were found fainted in the kitchen because I placed the chemical stuff in the kitchen. There were more than thirty cockroaches found fainted. Now I think that I need to use it again for them. Thank you for the discussion that reminds me of them. Take care, clorissa.

Yes i have cockroaches in my home. They run around only in the night when everyone is sleeping. There are sprays that kill cockroaches. You can put a disinfectant on the floor so that cockroaches will not run around easily. There is also a chalk in which you have to draw lines around the house. The cockroach will not enter into the lines easily. There are sprays that keep cockroaches for four weeks away.

Nope, no cockroaches here. If I ever saw one in my house I would freak out, and clean every inch of the house and call and exterminator. Cockroaches multiply very quickly, and if you don't get them all, and just one female lives who is pregnant, you will just get infested again. The best thing to do is let a professional handle it, making sure he kills every one of them.

If you have an infestation, hire an exterminator. If you only see one every now and then, bug bait, similar to the Roach Motels, usually do a pretty good job of keeping them down. A final suggestion - get a cat. Cats will pounce on anything that moves. They hate bugs.

Oh my goodness just reading this makes my skin crawl!! I do not have any cockroaches in my home but here in the UK, due to the temperate climate you have to be pretty unhygienic to have a cockroach problem. I hate cockroaches with a passion. I hope you do manage to get rid of all the cockroaches. I do remember that during a trip to India we bought some really good spray that was specifically for killing cockroaches, and it was really effective. I can't remember what it was called now, but I do wish you the best of luck with finding an effective treatment. Other than that my advice would be to keep all food securely stored in order to avoid attracting the horrid pests.
