I don't mean to step on you gum chewers toes so forgive me if i do. Alot of people like to chew gum i use to but i have noticed so many people that do that in places i don't think is appropriate such as on tv when they are getting interviwed or accepting an award, clerks working in stores etc. Have u really ever noticed?? It really drives me nuts. If u chew discreetly it's one thing but if u don't it's another. I USE TO HEAR PEOPLE SAY THAT GUM IS SURELY GOING TO HEAVEN because she is or he is chewing the h*ell out of it.Have u ever noticed those big chewers? IF NOT START watching it will probably make u quit like it did me.

I seldom buy chewing gums. But when I do, I make sure that I just chew it discreetly. Like you, I don't want to see those who are big chewers, especially those who chew gums with loud sounds...

I do not chew gum, but the people that do seem to chew it so loud and like they are eating steak. I commented the other day when the basketball finals was on to my husband, when they had a close shot of Coby Bryant. He was chewing like a cow, and it surely was ugly. My husband's daughter in law, thinks she is so hot, but she chews on that gum and pops it, and it is so annoying and ugly looking.

Growing up post war in the U.K. everything was rationed and so we did not have sweets or chewing gum. The only people we saw with gum were American Service people. My mother was very strict and did her best to bring us up as ladies. We were not allowed to chew gum at all. Ever. We were told that chewing gum was very low class! Can you believe it? she had great hopes for us! So we never chewed gum and consequently my children never chewed gum in the house or with me either. My mother's influence is still with me and I HATE to be with anyone who chews gum. hate to see people chewing gum on TV or in public. Realluy hate it. Excellent post dear friend

yeah i've seen those kind of people... being interviewed on tv and chewing gum, its really quite annoying, and those that receives awards too, you know i think its being disrespectful... im a gum chewer but i chew at the right place and the right time. its like when i see these kinds of people chewing gum in the wrong place and at the wrong time it backfires into their character, the thing that would come to my mind right away is this person has a bad character or something...

I never noticed people who chew at inappropriate times. That's a pretty funny joke about the heaven and hell for the gum. I chew gum a bit but only in class as it keeps me busy and keeps me from paying attention to the boring teacher.

I used to love chewing gum when I was a kid but I found it now makes me hungry, I was told that chewing gum actually teases your stomach, you chew and set off certain juices and the stomach expects food, sounds interesting but I know what you mean, it doesn't always look good... a time and place for everything I think.

oh then it is good to chew gum when you want to gain weight and when you don't have the appetite to eat. i do rarely eat gums too and also i am overweight a bit and i don't to gain any more weight. but chewing is cool but it is quite expensive too. i buy sometimes in bulk or big packs so that i will have steady supply but i end up in gorging on them and i can't stop on chewing and so i just buy few pieces. cause here in my country we can buy few pieces on the streets on sidewalk vendor. and so when i go out and walking on the streets i just stop by to buy 2 pieces.

I hate to see people who are chewing gum and talking at the same time. More, some are making funny noise... When going shopping I see many cashiers chewing gum. My friend said once that they infecting his food with germs, because they chew with open mouth... I was ready to complain once because I feel like they have no respect for people.

gum - bubble yum
I agree. I love gum...but, I work at a restaurant and I clean the dining room. What really bugs me is when I'm wiping the tables, I look under them sometimes for the heck of it and I find crap loads of gum. Why are people so lazy, they can't spit gum in a napkin or the garbage can or something, and you're going somewhere to EAT, so why would you be chewing gum in the first place??

Honestly, I don't mind people chewing gum as long as they're decent about it and not chewing like a harlot in a wh*re house. LOL However, I do have a huge peeve on people throwing their gum on the ground! That boils my blood over! If I'm walking along, I don't want to play tic tac toe so that I don't step in it and get it everywhere I walk such as my car or house. Trash cans are a dime a dozen so why can't these people walk up to a trash can and throw it in? I don't get it.

I don't blame you. I don't like chewing gum, either. I like to chew gum a little bit but I just chew enough to help my breath. I have such sensitive teeth (actually, sensitive gums) until I can't chew it too long. When I was in school, I would chew a little bit between classes. I would try to get rid of it before I got to class because I knew how teachers felt about it. You did hair for 47 years. I thought you would like the following story. I went to have a glamour portrait made one time and the girl who did my hair smacked on gum the whole time!I couldn't think of a nice way to tell her not to do it so I just toughed it out. People are so rude, aren't they? Kathy.

It totally understand what you mean, I would be in class trying to write a paper or somthing. And there would be a kid in the back of the class smacking away at his gum, it is very annoying. Also chewing gum isnt very attractive at all when your doing somthing important such as a job interview as you mentioned.

Chewing a gum in public is really rude. I only do that when i think my breath isn`t fresh enough :) or when i`m getting bored . I think it might become vicious and i also think its not lady-like for women :P

I used to be gum chewers as I believe it gives the face the much needed facial exercise. The non stop chewing moves the facial tissues which firms up the face. LOL Asides from that I think most people chew gum to calm them down or is just addiction to chewing gum. The thing I hate about chewing gum is that people spit them out indiscriminately and a menace to jaywalkers when they got stuck on the sole of their shoes. Yes, I have noticed too that gum chewers have no courtesy at all. Even while being interviewed they keep chewing the gum which I think is rude.

I'M sure it has it's good points but some folks just carry it too far in certain places. I HATE to step in gum. I think it's rude just to throw it down anywhere. oh well, as the old saying goes different strokes for different folks, i guess. THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE.

I don't see it that often, but it can be really irritating and even gross. I had a guy check me out at a store a couple of weeks ago. He was chewing gum, even sticking it between his two front teeth at times. When he was talking to me I could not understand a thing he was saying. At one point I had him repeat something he asked me twice, I still don't know what he said, I just said no. I could have been turning down $100.00 I doubt it, but I really couldn't tell you what he asked me.

though chewing gum may not help the dentition of people but i have read some materials that actually suggests that chewing gums can help boost memories esopecially in older adults. Have you ever seen football coaches and team managers chewing gums at every opportunity, its just to keep their pressure mioderate while a game is underway

Well, it's okay if you chew it in your home but it's maybe not so good to chew it public. So if someone need to chew chewing gum, he/she can do it at home.
