Have you ever helped out?

When a woman is having a baby, cleaning up their home before they arrive. My mother has done this, so have I. Would you appreciate the assistance or view it as an invasion? We were appreciated for our efforts. I know it may not be common place, but I would think given all that entails a new baby coming home it would be nice. My bf and one of my sisters did it when I came home with my son.

I think a lot has to do with the person. The less well kept their house, the more sensitive they may be about others inside. Contrarywise, someone who is very fastidious about keeping their house tidy might be insulted that someone thinks they can't do a good enough job. Depends on how over-sensitive they are.

Yes, I have many times. I even helped my sister in law whom lived next door with her house for almost 8 weeks after her baby was born by C-section. My sister in law was glad that I did it. and her hubby raved about how clean the house stayed because I was cleaning it daily...and how clean the tub was..

I have done this before also for my sister. I have never had it done for me though. I only have one child too. I would definitely appreciate it if someone had done it for me. I had enough going on, taking care of the baby and being a fresh, new mom.

I remember how much I appreciated my mother coming over every day after I had my first child with a home cooked meal, how she entertained the baby while we ate and how she cleaned up afterwards and put leftovers in the frig. She would also collect our dirty laundry, take it home with her and bring clean clothes back with the next evening's dinner. She did all of this while working full time and with three kids of her own still living at home since I was the oldest. She inspired me to offer the same kind of help to friends and family when a new baby arrives so I've done it many times. I'll be doing it for a friend of mine in a few months when she has her baby...especially since she has no family in the area and few friends of her own. Her husband is actually a friend of my husband's so we're just getting to know each other. I call her when I'm at the store incase she needs something and she did the same to me the other day which I thought was very sweet.
