I woke up this morning feeling so depressed.

I did not know why I was feeling so unhappy. Prayer did not assist me, perhaps because I was more focussd on myself. I got to work very early and instead of going straight into my offce, I collected a pair of secateurs (clippers) and went around the property clipping and pruning here and there as the fancy took me. The early morning was still cool and the sun was shining brightly. The sea was a turquoise colour and as smooth as silk. I watched a cruise ship coming in to the Island. It was good to talk to the gardeners and make our plans for the week. Just this one hour in the sunshine in a beautiful garden completely lifted by spirits in such a positive way that the 'blues' just disappeared. What do you do to make yourself feel better if you are feeling depressed?

I write, some of my best work has come forth while I was very depressed. Or I sleep it off, the problem always seems a bit better after a good nights sleep.

Nature works so well when I'm depressed too. I love to just go outside and sit, just looking at the trees, and swinging. Sitting on the steps help too. I don't do much of that though, even when I am depressed. I am glad that you have found something to help relieve your depressing moments - and wow - at work too! lol! Who would have thought? huh!

I'm sorry u woke up feeling that way, that's the pits. I WILL ALOT OF TIME CALL A FRIEND, GET ON MYLOT, RUN TO THE DOLLOR STORE FOR SOMETHING ETC. I STAY IN SO much just getting out for awhile helps.Having something where i feel needed helps to like visiting Ann every day in the hospital or going to see my friend Jan that had the stroke & is in the nursing home. KEEPING ur mind busy is important to me. Have a great day tomorrow. Your description of your surrondings painted a pretty picture in my mind, thanks.

Hello! I too at times wake up feeling this way and what I try to do is focus on positive things that are happening in my life or things that are about to happen but I wish I was able to see a cruise ship like you do. :).. Being outside in the sun is a great picker-upper. Perhaps you should do it a bit more often when you feel this way.

This time last year I was recovering from skin cancer on my face so I have to avoid the sun - a bit difficult as I live in a hot country. Ther cruise is the end of August and I am so looking forward to going away with friends.

Depression is never a good thing when I am depressed I like to hang out with friends, go shopping and go to the movies. I am always in for a good laugh. Laughing always makes me smile. Sometime when I am depressed I look for a hug from someone. Hugs are awsome they make you feel good all inside. Taking a hot relaxing bubble bath sometimes helps get my mind off things. If you live by the sea laying on the beach relaxing and getting a tan might be ideal for you. Or volleyball on the beach maybe swimming.

I usally work alot and sometimes I get depressed from all of it or other things going on in my life at the time. I usually take me a little bit of of time off, like a few hours or so and go and just sit and relax or do something I enjoy doing.

I'm fine - the only thing that really stresses me is my boss and he is in the U.K. so I'm good. It was just not knowing what the reason was. It may be that I am getting a bit teary as my DIL will be here next week and then on August 11 they will be going to London for a week and then on to Dubai. My son will stay a few weeks to settle the twins in their new environment. It is the right thing for them to be with their mother and she has missed them so much this past year but I will miss them so much too. One of those moments in life that I cannot do anything about but they have been with me for 15 months so far. I just have to reconcile myself to taking a big step back! It was an honour and blessing to have them and I have good memories but oh, I shall miss them so very much.

I know what those days feel like. Some unknown force seems to be overwhelming the spirit and then some other force, most times something really simple just comes along and dispells that force. There is no one thing I can pinpoint which I do to lift my spirits when I feel down. Could be some nice music or just a little mediatative session. Time alone or just chatting to a good friend. No doubt too throwing a rant works some times as well.

JUst going down to the sea tends to put things in perspective. It does not happen often - it can happen but I know the reason. It is rare that it happens and I just od not know why. Many thanks. Trying to catch up during lunch hour but will have to delete so many emails.

I'm fine now Dawn but it was that I could not pinpoint what caused it. Proobably because of the children leaving next month. It is a joy to see them with their mother. They were so excited - and she did tell me that I had done a wonmdeful job with them. We had a talk and I am backing off and letting her take control as they are still looking to me for decisions. All that matters is their smooth transition to their mother and away from me.

Hey, I didn't woke up feeling depressed this morning but it was a really long and weird day.I woke up feeling kinda happy and energetic to do whatever I need to do today but the thing was those things I was suppose to do today just didn't go according to plan and everything was kinda messed up and not in order.I am just feeling depressed now thinking of how the day was and how everything just not right and don't go my way.Maybe I just need a long rest and everything will be alright the next day...

I think that playing with your pets is very therapeutic and it helps to get out too. I am not usually depressed that much and I was puzzled that I could not work out why I was unhappy. Itake care of yourself and know that you are loved dearly by our father God

I woke up the past 2 days depressed. Yesterday was worse then today and today its about more then yesterday. I think my head is just thinking and keeping me busy. My husbands hours have been cut from 40 to 32 a week. I might have to go get a weekend job somewhere. The worse part is not many are hiring and they would have to work with me b/c I don't have a babysitter during the weekday. Not sure who would hire me when I can only work the weekends. Hopefully I can find something. Exercise usually helps me but I might have to try going outside.

This is mega stress and you do know what is causing it. I just didn't know and that was frustrating. I have been in situations like yours and togejhter, you and your jusband and children (if any) have to go into survival mode. Get rid of extras on the phone etc. Just put pen to paper and see where you can cut down. Can you offer babysitting services to anyone during the day? Try and get to garage sales to get all children's clothes and school supplies. Can a Church assist you? Can you have a garage sale? Or join with someone else to have a sale? Can you sell anything on ebay? Important for you to get out of the house especially now during the summer. Wsh in cold water only. Can you hang washing outside to dry? Unplug all appliances when not in use. Turn off lights. Cut down oin water. Go to websites where people are frugal and collect recipes etc. Once you start to plan and do something then you will not feel so helpless. Maybe a supermarket would hire you on the weekends. Just ideas to get you started. Please let me know how you are doing. do you have a yard or garden? I grow veggies in containers and potatoes in tyres. so easy. Many blessings to you and your family.

Ususally my depression stems from focussing too much on what my kids are doing wrong. I try to take a deep breath and stop and think about how wonderful these "little" people really are. Prayer works for me too. Sitting outside and looking up at night, smelling the fresh air and seeing the stars. Just serene things like that cam help me calm back down and get back into my good spirits!

Hey cynthian, Sorry that you woke up feeling unhappy. It happens and yes you are right; sometimes we just don't know why. With women it could be hormonal changes or an imbalance. Generally it could just be a reaction to all the stress around us. I listen to music to help me through it, I also pray or I just have a hearty cry by myself and and allow God to move through me. Either way, you need to find a source that will calm you, whatever works for you. I hope you will continue to feel better and press on. Take care.

I just don't get up before i've straightened my mind and thoughts, sometimes i maybe just continue sleeping a bit more and try if it helps, because if you are really tired it might cause that you are blue and negative. Also i usually start the day alone and do the usual tasks, so i do not call any friends or go anywhere, and after it i usually at last start feeling better. Then i can go to have fun with friends or call my friends to come to my house and we'll chat and play games and so on. But the most important part, i think, is to get your thoughts straight, otherwise it may become worse.
