What do you think of when you hear the word Lithium?

This isn't that random of a question, I promise! I'm listening to the Evanescence song by that name. I also think of Lithium Flower, another song... I think that one's by Yoko Kanno. And I think of elements. What do you associate that word with, if anything?

A soft, silvery, highly reactive metallic element that is used as a heat transfer medium, in thermonuclear weapons, and in various alloys, ceramics, and optical forms of glass.

Nice and practical answer. Thanks! I (sadly) actually had to look up the element online when I first heard the song. And so many songs have that word in their names... lol

It reminds me of Nirvana. It makes me want to sing Nirvana's "Lithium". Mmhmm. And I am talking about the band. Haha.

My granddaughter told me that Lithium is a video game with little people running around in it. She said that she plays it all the time. When she was telling me that yesterday it reminded me of your post here on mylot, so I came back to answer it.

I think of manic depression. I read a book about a woman with it who used lithium to treat it.

Lithium is a alkali metal with atomic number 3. The word lithium also reminds me of lithium ion batteries.

It's sad that chemistry is the last thing I think of. It should be the first, theoretically. xD

Heh it reminds me of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and my early animax days. When it was being aired, I was so fascinated by anime, I used to watch 3 or 4 episodes a day.. my parents thought I'd gone nuts.. :)

I think of bi-polar disorder as Lithium is used to treat those with bi-polar disorder. Can't help it, once a nurse always a nurse!
