Shirley had to stay outside in my rental home because I couldn't have pets there, but when I bought my home in March of this year, she became an inside/outside cat. She would go out at night and always showed up at the door at daylight, often with a 'prize' for me.
A few weeks ago she didn't show up and we were worried that she had been hit by a car.
My pup Molly woke me in the middle of the night to go potty but I ignored her (stupid mistake). While cleaning the mess I heard a tiny meow and thought it might have been the kittens next door who come to visit occasionally.
I went to the sliding glass door and there she was - Shirley in all her calico glory! She sauntered into the house like she'd never been gone.
Have you ever had a cat gone missing? How long were they gone?

Hi there: Oh your Cat Shirley is just beautiful, she reminds me of my old momma cat
Minx, she was a hell of a mouser and got moles and snakes and rabbits;
I'm glad to hear she showed back up for you? Is she spayed??
Maybe she went out
"cattin" around (G)!!
I'm just glad she has returned home to you that's the main thing, My old momma
cat Minx went missing on me in FEB, I am guessing she went off to die she was getting old but she wasn't that old, I've no idea what happened to her;
I just know she would never willingly leave the farm, her two buddies were there
my two dogs who she loved dearly and another calico cat of mine;
it breaks my heart everytime I think of her like now;
But I am happy that your Shirley returned to you, I've enclosed a photo of my Minx

Yeah, I did have a cat that went missing. He was gone about three days. I found hom or rather he found me about three days later. He had been under the bushes near our house for those days. I was really glad that he shouwed up because we were getting ready to move and I think that we might have actually left without him. He just acted like nothing whatsoever was wrong.

I know I would get worried if I owned a pet and they disappeared. Seriously I think that owning a Cat or pet is a great thing. I am glad that she has reappeared and hope she will not scare you like this anymore as well.

My indoor outdoor eleven year old cat has been missing for two days. We are moving, and also the person who bought our property has taken out all the shrubs. We think she is confused. We are on our way out to look for her now.

Congrats on your home purchase! I bet your glad to finally be able to do what you want without having a landlord hovering over ya. Maybe now you can have the garden you always dreamed of. Sounds like Shirley is happy about it as well and showing you by giving you gifts. Back when I had let my cats go outside, my daughter's would disappear for a day or 2 and then show up to come in and eat. She always went straight to the neighbor's house and hung around there for some reason. After Lightning got attacked by some wild animal, I stopped letting them go out. Took them a long time to get used to not going outside anymore.
