i'm also one who always puts on an apron. but for me, rather than liking cooking, it's more the latter, to prevent my clothes from getting stained and all. and at my place for me, that is very prone as we usually cook using oil and all. our food is more of curry based and all so it's very easy to stain our clothes. it has also become a habit for me as well, since i cook daily and thus, i have to don it daily too.

I both like cooking and would like to prevent getting spotted on the shirts, hate it when I get that on my nice clothes...

Yes, ma'am. I amke sure that I have the apron on when I cook, and also when I wash dishes at the kitchen sink so that I won't get all wet.
Thanks for reminding too !

I occasionally remember to put on an apron. I have a couple around, one from when I used to work at Starbucks and one from the deli my husband works at. Most of the time I don't wear one, though. I tend to be pretty tidy with my cooking, and I don't usually get much on me. The main exception to that is flour. I will get flour all over myself when I bake, but since flour doesn't stain clothing I don' really care. If I'm wearing something nice, though, I do make an effort to find and put on my apron.

I don't wear apron buddy, I don't have the habit of earing it. But it is very good habit to put on apron while cooking because there will be safety to our dress. I think wearing cap while cooking is also an excellent habit. Now a days many are really suffering with hair-fall and you see many big fights are occurred by hair-fall. If a single hair is found in the food that we eat then we loose temper right. I have seen too many fights
between husband and wife which are mainly because of silly reason i.e., hair found in the food.
But actually discussion is about apron
and this is the first best thing which is to be followed while entering into the kitchen. I wear night dress at home so i don't wear too costly dress na and its ok for me without apron. I manage my cooking section perfectly without any apron..Anyways keep smiling and happy living buddy :)

You know what, my hubby said the same thing last night when he looked at his food - hair in the steak????????? Well, I didn't do it on purpose, our puppy is shedding like crazy now... he didn't sit at the table immediately when the dinner was prepadred, he waited for a while so... :-\

When I am cooking at home I did not use apron.
I just cook there whatever ,and I really used to it.
But if I will required to do it in other place I will
wear it following the correct procedure in cooking.
But in my own family I will not anymore , I dont like to
have more laundry.

I probably should but I don't. I think the only time I wore an apron in the kitchen was in high school foods class. Laundry is one of the banes of my existance and I can't see adding aprons to it.
My main problem in the kitchen isn't that I'm messy (although I am :)); it's that I burn myself on a regular basis. At least twice a week, I burn myself pretty good simply by not paying close attention to what I'm doing.
It's not so much an apron I need as those fancy rubber heatproof potholders.

I need those a lot too, my hands is very very sensitive about the hear, I cannot accept heat very much, always need that even though holding the handle of the pan...

No I don't.....but I should. I have several peices of clothing that have been wrecked by splattering grease or other stains from like tomatoey things.....from what I understand thought they are coming back into the cooking world just like our grandmothers and moms used to wear!

Yea... that's why I must wear them in order to avoid the grease...

Hi mermaid...I know I should because it would prevent a lot of spills on my good clothing, but of course I don't unless I remember. I should have them more organized and closer to the sink - they are tucked away in the pantry! Not the best place to keep them!

I hang it on a nail in the pantry so everytime when I cook, I won't forget, I don't want to get my clothes have spots that cannot come off...

I never wore an apron in life.I always keep a kitchen towel with me though.I always wash my hands very frequently when i am working in the kitchen.I think i used to work like that.My clothes are always neat without any splatters till now.So it is more of a habit,i guess.

I only do it if I am cooking for someone. I don't know.. maybe I just want to look good ;-) I probably should do it more often so that I don't ruin clothes, etc, but I never think about it until my hands are covered in mess and I can't find a place to wipe and so I run to the sink in a hurry. Then I say, I should have worn an apron.

Hi mermaidivy, my husband's elder sister is the chef of our family. She is the important person who takes care of our two meals daily. Just like you, she has the same habit to put on apron whenever she is busy preparing meal in the kitchen. She doesn't like the whitish apron like the chefs and cooks we usually see in the restaurant. She just loves to put on the one with small red and white plaids.
While cooking she watch tv at the same time. I see her wipes her hands on the apron and then takes it off and leaves for her favorite tv program in her bedroom. She will put on another brand new one when she continues to work in the kitchen again. She uses a few apron per day to keep her cloths clean
Happy posting

I dont wear an apron to cook, but maybe I should because I seem to often get dirty when I am cooking and it would be nice to have something to protect me. I guess there are some good things you can do to protect your clothes and I think wearing an apron is one of them.

Yes, I think so, I feel more comfortable wering the apron to cook, becaus eI don't need to be careful about the source or flour etc.

I currently do not, but I am really considering it. I make a mess all over myself all the time, and I am worried I am going to eventually ruin my clothes. I think next time I find one in a store if the price is right I am going to get it. I think it will make my laundry a lot easier for me to do.

Hi, mermaidivy. No, I don't wear an apron while I cook. I would like to buy me one so that my clothes will not get stained from preparing a meal. I have always wanted to wear an apron while cooking. Hopefully I will be able to buy myself one very soon.
