Does anyone still cook home-made pizza?

There is something just so delicious and mouth-watering about home-made pizza, made from just raw ingredients. But take-away is so convenient these days and I was wondering how many people out there do make the effort to make a pizza at home every now and again?

Not very often but every once in a while I will make my own. Homemade ones taste so good. Last month my husband and I grilled pizzas out on the grill they turned out great, and tasted really good. With frozen pizzas being so cheap it is not always the least expensive to make pizzas, but it is kind of fun, but it tastes so good.

Yes I think some frozen ones are very cheap to buy - but they never really taste that great so the value factor isn't really there in my opinion.

Hi friend, Once I had a lot of hungry friends over. I made the pizzas square to fit exactly my oven. Had to make 3.

Uh, no. I get some Boboli pizza crust, Boboli pizza sauce, grate myself some cheese, and that is my version of homemade pizza. Or in a pinch, I'll put the pizza sauce and cheese on half of an English muffin. My mom used to make English muffin pizzas for us when we were kids.

It really is. Add pepperoni or cooked hamburger meat, whatever toppings one likes...

I do and it is so much nicer than any shop or takeaway pizza. I find that the shop or takeaway ones are way too salty and there is never enough mozzarella or whatever topping is supposed to be on it. I make a big square one and have leftover cold pizza the next day for lunch.

Yes exactly. Toppings are sometimes skimpy on shop-bought pizza, especially frozen ones. I love home-made the next day too!

I made home made pizza just 2 days ago. I did not like it though, I think it is because I used pizza crust, instead of dinner roll biscuit mix. But my hubby and our boys like it. That is all that mattered. I made stuffed crust. To me it is easier to do take out pizza so that I can spend more time with my hubby and our boys. Although my favorite pizza's are Foxes.Pizza Hut and Little Ceasers. I went from my least favorite to my favorite. If Little Ceasers ever closed I would cry.,,,LOL But I do like to make home made pizza breads....lol that is where you use bread and put the sauce on it and put your favorite toppings on it. That is so much easier and funner because your children can sit there and make there own all you have to do is put it in the oven for them. To me that is the way to do it. Happy Mylotting

The best pizza I like from Pizza Hut is the veggie ones and pepperoni. That sounds so good right now, to bad I dont have money to take the family.

Yes I love the veggie hot pizzas from there! Keep myLotting and perhaps keep the earnings saved as a treat to take them out?

I make at home from scratch absolutly everything I eat. And everything my happy guests eat when I invite them for diner. In my country I can buy a couple of the best and biggest steaks with the money I would spend on a not so good take-away pizza. I ocationally am invited to a restaurant but it´s the kind of restaurant that not many can pay. This sSunday, for example, I invited a couple. I´m having a homemade terrine for starters, a roast pork with onion and apple relich and a crsm of spinash on the side. For desert I´ll make flambeed crepes.

We don't eat a lot of pizza so I usually just order it. My mil makes a homemade pizza,but I don't care for it. I would like to have a good recipe for pizza made at home with a lot of goodies on it.

Home-made pizza is not hard as some people probably think. And when it is home-made you can control exactly what goes on it, therefore it is much healthier than buying one from outside.

My mom and I were thinking of doing this a s a treat for my nephew. the summer days are here and we have to be innovative and creative to cut cost and still have a good time. We saw a really fun, inexpensive and appealing pizza demonstration on TV the other day. The are several other stuff we ave been meaning to bake but have not gotten aroung to it.

You should definitely give it a go, as it is not as hard as it seems, and home-made pizza tastes amazing

I have made home made pizza couple times at home; I have made barbeque chicken, sausage and cheese etc they came out p[retty good thatn I expected :-) I would like to make it again because my hubby likes pizza a lot. I just need time to prepare the dough and let it rise, preparing the ingredients is not too difficult.
@UK_Shree (3603)

They do all sound very yummy and I can imagine that your husband loves them! Yes the main thing is the time required for the dough - otherwise I really do not think it is that challenging!

I still do. In fact, I made one yesterday. Nothing beats homemade pizza, but it is a pain to wait for the dough to rise - 2 hours. Usually I put a lot of toppings on the pizza - tomato, green bell peppers, artichoke heart, olives, onion, mushroom, cheese, ham, pepperoni, you name it.
@UK_Shree (3603)

Wow that sure would make a very filling pizza! Yes waiting around for the dough to be ready can take quite a while.

My mother used to make homemade pizza every Friday when I was growing up. Actually she continued to make pizza until about 15 years ago. Boy do I miss those days. When I moved out of their house we would always find an excuse to visit mom and dad each and every Friday just to get some of her pizza. It usually was just plain cheese which is my favorite anyways, and she would grate the cheese as well. It was terrific!!! Then on Saturday morning (yes, for breakfast) I would have a piece of cold pizza for breakfast....yummy!!!

My grandmother came from italy and she use to always make use homemade pizza. She passed away years ago. Just a few months ago my aunt, her daughter, came to town. She promised that when we go and visit her in Florida next year she will teach my sisters and me how to make homemade pizza like our grandmother use to make. I can't wait! I agree, homemade pizza is awesome.

I make a type of pizza. It's the crust that has so many of the calories so I make it using 50 calorie, high fiber bread. I spread it with spaghetti sauce and some cheese, onions and ham if I have them, and pineapple when I have it. It's not as good as parlor pizza but it's a tolerable substitute and saves a lot of calories and fat when I have a craving.

That's a great healthy way to enjoy pizza. My mum used to do something similar - my brother was a pizza addict and she would make them quite often for him, but using medium brown flour instead of plain white flour so that they'd be that little bit healthier.

Hey! I would love to make a homemade pizza sometime, but I think it would cost so much more with buying all the things for it . I have got the mix packs that makes the dough , and I made some good steak ranch pizza , and well stuffed crusted.Guess you have more options if you make yourself!
@UK_Shree (3603)
28 Jun 09
Definitely a whole lot more options. And actually it works out cheaper in the long run, because a lot of the things you can store such a flour, frozen veg to put on the pizza, cheese etc for the next time you want to make it!

No not at all. Pizza cooking complicated and this should be done in pizza coner or in pizza hut only.

Its not that complicated! Try it, you'll be delighted with the results!
