What is the last gift you bought one of your parents?

My dad turned 54 today. I got him a card, but I also got him an OU umbrella. OU as in Oklahoma University. He got his Masters degree there, and he is a HUGE OU football fan. He really liked it. And since he is always out and about, I figure he can fight the rain in style. What was the last gift you bought either one of your parents? And if your parents are no longer here, what was the last gift you bought for anyone?

I've given my dad a japanese design bowl because he eats in a bowl and use chopsticks while my mother, I've given her play cards because she loves to play and sometimes know how to read them but I don't. Oh, how I wish I know how to read them too. Well, that's what I've given them last christmas.

She's like a tarot reader but instead of using tarot cards she's just using ordinary cards. I asked her how she does it but she said it just pass on her mind and it's true. After a day or 2, it will happen.

My dad passed away a few years back, but my mom was here last summer and the last gift I bought for her was a handbag right on the day she was going back home. She was complaining that the shoes and the purse didn't match, so on my way back from work I found a nice one that did match the shoes and bought it for her.

Sad but the last gift I brought to my mother was a couple of doughnuts & some blueberries. Seems odd but my mum is in a nursing home & she only wants foods they don't serve in the nursing home like sweet treats & FRESH fruit. As far as anyone goes they had additional markdowns on toy clearances @ k-mart a few weeks ago So I bought my girls their b-day toys & a gift for a party they were attending.

Girl, that is a great gift! You gave her something she wanted a lot. And I notice the emphasis on fresh fruit. Places like that seem to give canned everything, even fruit. Or apples two hours away from being old.

My Aunt said she's always been an addict of fresh fruit. I just wish they'd allow her a mini fridge so I could bring more than a small pkg or two when I visit. If you put it in the fridge in the unit they only keep the item for like 2 days & toss it. I can see if it was a prepared meal but fresh fruit? That should keep for several days to a week, it's not in the same field as a left over meal.

I haven't give my parents anything. Shame on me. I only give them a little money every month. It kind weird that my father can speak or ask money from me, but not from my brothers. My father or mother ask me money not because they don't have money, but because they know their only daughter will give it not matter what. still I love them vvery much

Hon, if you give your parents money every month, that is all you need to do. That is a gift every time you give to them.

Maybe that's because your the eldest sibling? or maybe you are the most profitable one?:P Don't worry about that. I think that asking you for money and not from your brothers means that they trust you so much and your the one that they could depend on. And besides, supporting parents is the job of the children right? Its a way of returning favor to what they have done to us.:)

Though they haven't gotten the gifts yet, I just bought my Mom the Harry Potter Scene IT game, and my Dad and old Laurel and Hardy video. Needless to say, Mom likes Harry Potter a lot, and Dad really likes the old comedies. I live far enough away from them that I try to send things for them and my brother all in one package. I have a hard time keeping these little surprises from my Mom though, no sooner did I buy the gidts, I was on the phone telling her about them!

Happy birthday to you Dad! That is so nice of you. It is a very nice gift. I am very poor in choosing gifts. The last gift I got for my parents is sari for my mother. Saree is a five and half meter cloth which women wear in India. She liked it. My dad has asked me for a watch. I have to get a good watch for him. Your discussion reminded me about that. I will do it for his next birthday.

When I was a young child I went to school with three children whom were Indian. Their mothers came to school in saris to pick them up. I always thought the cloths were so beautiful.

The last gift I bought my parents was free evening out on the town. I paid for the expensive meal at the fancy restaurant, tickets to the concert that featured their favorite musicians, and motel room to...I didn't get them a motel room. I was thinking about it, then I went blind for about thirty minutes after getting a mental picture of what they would do in there. *shutter* The horror!

Since last Christmas my mom decided not to give gifts to eachother but to the kids only and send the money to charity instead. Thus, I am having a hard time remembering what gift I gave last. I honestly cannot remember the last gift I have given. I remember having a hard time thinking what to give them since they have everything already.

My dad's parents are deceased. But my mom's parents are still alive. They made a deal with my parents not to give gifts at all, on birthdays or Christmas. Both are dealing with money troubles. But of course we get together for Christmas and everyone brings a dish. Being together seems like enough, huh. : )

MY mother is 65 years old. She finds difficulty in cooking . For that reason i bought her new pressure cooker for cooking freely on her birthday last month. May be this is not worth full gift. But it makes her happy.

That was a very thoughtful and practical gift! The last gift I bought my Mom is a Heart-Shaped Bamboo plant in a TerraCotta box. She just moved into a "senior" home, (not a nursing home), and she has the best plant windows in her apartment. Bamboo is for "Good Luck", or so I've been told, and it looks really cute in her new place! My dad's no longer here, but the last gift I gave him was a universal remote, which he really loved, and I was glad for him to have it.

Both of my parents have passed, but the last thing I gave Mom was dinner out for her 92nd birthday at Applebees. She thoroughly enjoyed it. The last gift I gave was today - I paid for a birthday party for my grandson because his dad is out of work and couldn't afford to do anything for his 9th birthday. So, I paid by phone for a reservation at a local Aquatic Center for a party for 8 kids and 2 adults, 2 pizzas and unlimited drinks - $75. I'm sure they'll have a great time. My son and his boys are like fish. Wish I could be there. They're in Utah and I'm in NJ. I also just sent 18 roses to my aunt in Arizona for her birthday on Saturday - they're supposed to be delivered tomorrow. I know she isn't expecting them. She just underwent a 2nd mastectomy on May 28th, so I thought she deserved something really nice for her birthday that is a total surprise! I enjoy doing things like this when I'm able to do it. I wish I could do things like this more often.

I love choosing and buying gifts for my family and friends. The last time I gave a gift was to my father on Father's Day. I gave him a shirt that I know he likes. I usually give gifts to my family during special occasions, like Christmas, birthdays, and even Valentines. I also like giving small and inexpensive gifts to my friend when I am shopping. It is the thought that counts.

The last gift I got was for my daddy on fathers day. I made him a hawaiian coffee/goody gift basket. The gift included: A gift basket with hawaiian print Basket wrapping && card. A bag of instant coffee. _couple packets of sugar && cream a hawaiian surfboard coffee mug. a box of his favorite cookies. (chocolate macadamia nut cookies) a box of his favorite candy (chocolate covered macadamia nuts.) a couple mini roasted macadamia nuts packets. && a gift card to one of his favorite stores. He seemed to like it. As a matter in fact he told me I should make gift baskets for a living. But of course making gift baskets is not for me...Anyways, as long he likes it thats all that matters. ; )
