What's the most intesting or unusual thing you've seen in a rock pool?

A couple of weeks ago, we visited the beach near our home on the Costa Blanca in Spain. We saw what we thought was a large piece of dark material, and then it moved! It was a sea slug, about 8" long, which had obviously been washed into the rock pool by a wave. I've never seen anything like it so close. How about you? What was your most unusual rock pool find?

Wow I've never seen a sea slug...sounds nasty. lol I guess the most unusual thing I remember seeing is a starfish sitting on a banan peel that someone had left in a tidal pool. I went to pick up the peel and throw it away...but the starfish seemed to be eating it. It was stuck on to it so I assumed it was eating it and left it alone. I went back a while later and two snails were on it ??? Who knew bananas were so good! I was at a beach in southeast Mass, USA.

Perhaps the starfish and snails were trying to get their 5 a Day! That's certainly unusual. The sea slug wasn't particularly nasty, although we didn't touch it. We were all fascinated by it, and watched it for ages.

I do not live anywhere near an ocean, so have very seldom seen rock pools. I bet that was kind of neat. On the one or two occasions when I have visited the ocean I have been amazed at the different life forms there. I have enjoyed going to some rather large aquariums on both the east and west coast of the United States. Either one of them is over two thousand miles away. I would like to visit more often. I enjoy seeing things like tropical fish from Australian reefs and little octopi and anemones of course.
