How much are your bills monthly?

I was very curious to know what everyone's monthly bills are. I saw a similar discussion in yahoo! Answers, but I really would like other's opinions on this. Like the discussion there said, please break it down but you don't necessarily have to. For me, We don't have much expenses. We have our debt that we pay as much as we can, and then that and saving for the wedding makes for not much to spend.
This will help me, my fiance and others who are just starting out on their own! Please be specific like I said, but if you don't feel comfortable with it then don't worry about it.
Oh and if you have to pay for trash disposal, tell me that as well. I know in our county we do, but I want to know what others have to pay!

My boyfriend and are on our own now....here's a list of our monthly bills
-Rent
-DirecTV
-Internet
-My Car Payment/Insurance (we only have 1 car, going to get a 2nd one next year when mine is paid off)
-My student loans
-Food
-Gas
-Random expenses
We save a lot of money by me looking up coupons and coupon clipping. I usually get get a whole month's worth of food for the two of us around $50-$75/month depending on how much meat I buy that month. I hope this helps a little.

Oh and I forgot about our electric bill :-)
Everything added up together is about $2200 per month thereabouts I believe.

The trick is that you use the coupons on items that are already on sale. Another thing that I've noticed is that the coupons that youget in the Sunday paper are great and usually those items go on sale 2-3 weeks after the paper comes out, so save those coupons until those items go on sale. For instance I got a pack of hotdogs for 20 cents because they were on sale for $1.20 and then I had a coupon for $1 off and they were ball park franks so they weren't exactly cheap.

That doesn't sound that bad. $2,200. I already know that starting out we're going to be having to pay a bit, y'know to get things turned on. Also, we've already decided that we want to live in a double wide and that we're going to have it behind his parent's house. You spend that little on groceries? We can barely get by without spending $100.00 in the grocery store for the four of us! wow! That's even using coupons, we can't get by with that. I appreciate the response.

What kind of pesos are those? I mean to ask, from what country are you from? I have seen that there is another country other then Mexico that has a currency that is pesos. I'd love to convert this to my money to see how much you do pay. Oh and one other question, is 999 Nine Hundred and Ninety Nine Dollars, or is it Nine Dollars and Ninety Nine Cents? Well I appreciate the response and can't wait to hear your answers to my questions!

999 is in peso and its a fix rate...
i think Php - USD exchange rate now is about 48 pesos per $1...
well as you see my bills are not that high, but our income is also not that high...it just even to my expenses and actually right now i am having a hard time saving some money...
we don't have a car, and do not pay for house rentals... we spend some for public transportation...and spend some for food...
oops i forgot...i also help my parents in my brother's education...i just give a thousand pesos per month...
300+200+999+1000=2499 pesos/ month just about $52 per month...
300+200+999+1000=2499 pesos/ month just about $52 per month...

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me! lol! Getting your groceries free! We know we'll probably be paying for everything, lol, but we won't have to pay rent as we'll be living on the property of his parents! I appreciate the response!

Hi there! Paying monthly bills has been my problems ever since I started working. I wanted to take the responsibility from my parents that's why I managed all the bills problems. We are paying for water and electric bill since my other sibling has their own account for phone bills. Our water bill is not really much, usually take an average of $20.00 or less however I do have problems with our electricity bill because no matter how saving we try, it simply goes up. Last month we paid $63.00, this month we have to pay higher than that! We tried almost all tips to bring the electricity bill down but to no avail. Half of my salary is being spent for bills only that's why I am taking part time job just so I can save money on my own.

Have your tried switching to the energy saving light bulbs? And also instead of running a dishwasher I would suggest just washing them by hand because no only does it take a lot less water you aren't using the electric either.

Have you also tried unplugging lights when they are not in use, or using a clothesline to dry clothes. Opening the blinds for light? lol. Well good luck with earning enough to pay for bills and to save. I appreciate the response.

For me I'm a college student and so therefore I do have school to pay for so thankfully I have enough loans out to handle those things so its not like I'm paying for them exactly at the moment.
Things I do pay for on a monthly basis are:
Electric bill - normally for our townhouse it runs about $75-120 depending on the month and that is split between 2
Internet/cable - $100 split between 2 people
Cellphone - $35 - I have a plan with my parents so I pay for my unlimited texting and my part of the plan
Groceries - Probably around $50 a month
And then once a semester I have to put out about $300-500 for books.
So in total having a part time job pays for it all pretty well and then during the summer when my electric bill is really low since I'm back home and I'm not paying for books etc. I save up some money so therefore if I have a time where I have to take a week off of work I don't have to worry about not making ends meet.
Its all about making a list of all your expenses for a month, and then how much you make a month working and then saying ok I have this much left over so therefore I'll only spend half on leisure items so if something comes up I have that emergency stash.

I pay $100 for water and garbage for every 3 months, gas and electricity an about $200 per month, call phone $50, Internet $70....I don't want to mention my mortgage, because it is huge...plus real estate taxes plus house insurance...way too much...
My food, depends on single month...less during the summer, because I am vegetarian...

I respect your decision not to share your mortgage, your bills do not seem to be too bad with some of them being every three months paid. I am sure you do save a lot more money then meat eaters in the summer. Do you grow your own? We've tried to, but well animals have come to eat on our veggies. We do have tomatoes though.

My bills are usually more than I clear a month. I will try to break it down for you.
Daycare(for my 2 year old son) - $200
Electric & Gas - $150
Water - $65
Phone & Internet - $60
Gas(for my automobile) - $150
Lawn Care - $40
Groceries - $100
Totals - $765
Now I only clear $800 a month, so as you can see I live on a VERY TIGHT budget. Earning extra money here on MyLot comes in very handy on weeks when I don't know if I'm going to be able to make my weekly paycheck stretch far enough. I just wish I knew a better way to make some extra money.

Can I ask you a question? Do you have a professional service come to mow your lawn or is that lawn care bill for supplies like mulch? My fiance and I go mow my mom's small lawn for about $20.00 a week. If you had a kid that you knew do it, then you may could save a bit of money by offering $20.00 a week or maybe a bit higher like $25.00 a week. If you live in the USA go to gasbuddy.com, it tells you what the gas prices are around you, and you could find gas that's a bit cheaper. Also, if you have a murphy's around you, then you could use a wal*mart gift card and save $3.00 to fill the tank up.
I hope these tips help!

In my household, we pay $450 for rent each month, approximately $300 for itilities, such as water, sewer, gas, and electric, trash pickup is $20 monthly, car payment is $200 monthly, babysitter runs about $200 monthly right now, car insurance is about $100 a month, and we have a weekly bill to pay for our washer and dryer as well as our bedroom set that is $70 each week. So, before we put gas in the car, buy groceries, or get anyhting else that is needed, we pay out about $1400 each month.

When bills are put altogether it seems like so much! Wow! That does seem like a lot to pay! I know that we're worried about starting out with having to pay so much but I guess it's our standpoint with not having a job. We've both had jobs before though so we know what it feels like to have money!

I have to pay for my car, and my education bills only. as I stay at quarter provided by the employer, I don't have to pay for rent, water and electricity and even internet bill. It just if I want to go to town, it will cost a bomb, and a painful journey. By a car, but like riding a horse, and its been nearly three weeks I haven't been to town. I can save half of my pay, but, once I got out, the money will be flow like water.

I think my monthly bills average about 700.00 a month. I have been making every effort to earn more money online so I can get some of these bills that I am paying paid off. Like I am renting a washer and dryer now and my plan is to pay it off in 90 days. I hope I can working my way to pay it off instead. Take care and happy mylotting to you.

I am always worried about the rent to own stuff, what if we can't pay it off, and such. Not sure that I'll go for the rent to own, but it's a nice idea and for those who don't get as stressed as we do... lol. Well $700.00 doesn't seem that bad at all. Good Luck on Paying your Washer and Dryer off.
Well I guess either way if we got it on a credit card, we'd have to pay off a purchase, kind of like renting it... lol.

Hi SomeCowgirl! I have worked very hard to keep my bills at an affordable level. This is something you have to consider very carefully because it is easy to get caught up in a mess if you don't. I have a house payment that $682 a light/water bill that runs around $120..that includes trash pickup...My insurance is around $400 a year and that's for my house and car. Cable, phone, and internet is a package and that's $200. I have as many stations as you can imagine,no cost long distance and highspeed internet with that price. So you could have a considerably lower cost for those things if you didn't require them. Take care.

Wow! Interesting topic. Sorry my response is a little late. :)
Monthly bills:
Phone & Wi-fi Internet: $75
Gas & Electric: Usually runs anywhere from $75 to $115
Mortgage: $300
Quarterly bills:
Water: $90
Trash: $47
Yearly:
Car insurance: $690
My husband and I don't subscribe to any TV services, I bought the car with no outstanding payments four years ago, and we don't pay on cell phones. We already paid on our real estate taxes (we've only been married and living here since March), but because of the economy, we bought our house for much cheaper than what it used to go for, so we submitted a form to get our taxes lowered. I'm not sure how much it's going to change because of that.
We don't buy anything if we cannot pay it in full, so we have no payments on anything. We don't have any credit cards and therefore no debt there. I wish you and your fiance the best. :)

I am sorry my comment back is a little late (4 weeks!!!) as well! My fiance and I are very happy and we've talked about what we're going to do. We did have credit card debt, or rather I had it, but we've paid it off. Now we just have a checking debt and we'll pay that off soon. After that, we're not going to be using any credit cards, lol, atleast for a long long time. I am very fond of your idea, pay in full or not get it at all. That's what I want to do, though I know atleast when it comes to cars that might not happen.
Well I appreciate your response - when we move out on our own (we're living with the in laws) we're going to be in a doublewide on the in laws property.

Buying a car in full is definitely a good idea. I bought my first car in full when I was 16, a 2001 Ford Escape, because I'd saved my money all my life. Even though it may not be an option for you now, I'd highly recommend never making car payments unless you have to; have a savings account where you can save up to get a used car and not have to make the payments!
Good luck to you both and I hope you can get out of your in-laws home! I can't see that as being too much fun. :)

Hmm...lets see... ON a monthly basis i pay $700 for rent on my two bedroom apartment, this includes all the basic utilities like Heat, hot water, electricity, and trash pick up. I also have a cable/internet bill of a little over $100 per month. My roommate, who is my brother gives me $75/week or $300/month to go towards his portion of the bills. My cell phone is on my parents family plan, and they pay the basic fees for it (they pay this in lieu of purchasing and sendin christmas and birthday gifts yearly) but i send them $10 a month for the text messaging plan i opted to have on my phone.
When it comes to food/groceries and entertainment expenses, all i can say is i spend too much on these *lol*...i never keep track of them very well.
I do know that for a while when i was Living in my apartment by myself, i was on a very strict budget in order to pay rent and cable/internet and feed myself just out of my pay, and i had to be more careful with food shopping. I usually alotted myself $25-$30 per week for food and household items. Which for one person really wasn't too bad. Some weeks i might of spent a little more, like when they had good sales on meat and whatnot at the store though. But i would buy these "family packs" of meat at the store at such a good price, bring them home and divide them up into individual portions for myself, and this would save me money on subsequent weeks, as i woul have enough individual portions in my freezer to last me for three weeks at least.

This is a really good discussion baby, because I know bills are something that everyone has deal with because nothing in life is free, and I know that bills of different people differ because of what they have whether is be cable or satellite and how much they use their electricity and how much they use their water, and I know that everyone has to get used to their bills when they are first starting out,and bills usually get worse as the years go by,especially when you have a family, and I know that after we get married we are going to save for a house, and we will have bills of our own, right now I know we do not have many expenses,we are saving for our wedding which will not take much longer, and we were paying off our debt, but it seems like the debt collector is satisfied because it has been over a month since we received anything for them, and I know we want to try and help my parents out at least with gas,or with our part of the cell phone bill,or if nothing else than by helping with the groceries each month,I love you with all my heart and soul, have a great day, good luck with all of your mylotting goals, and Happy Posting.

The bulk of the home bookkeeping is done by my mother since we were kids and an early introduction of budgeting since grade school made me realize on how to prioritize on the needs of the family. First and foremost, go back to the category of basic budgeting and make an over-all calculation of your "income". This way, you can visualize the extent of how far your money can go. Should you need a wedding coordinator for your wedding, you may work with them on how much is your available budget. Stick with the budget cost and the planned expenses so that you may not have a so-called deficit. I suggest that the "debt" thing should be included in the budget plan so that you can keep track of your payments every time you do the home accounting. I cannot share to you my home expenditures at the moment since the "Education" category has changed (my brother and I are finished with our College so we tend to save on continuing Education ourselves), thus the allocation from the Education is directed on things that we may have neglected on the past years like doing some "home improvement" or buying new appliances to save more power. It is good to hear that you do not have much expenses but you have to project on the fact that you're gonna start a family and that means, expenditures in the future. You may have to focus your buying power on worthwhile investments, know what your banks and others can offer. Aside from the home part, have a budget for day-today work like transportation, food outside, emergencies. Selling is also a good practice to gain funds and well, giving up some vices like smoking. Regarding that trash disposal? Our system is, we have this waste segregation at home and we sell some clutter/junk, so we have some funds for the waste disposal. The good thing in our city is we are being taught of these matters to take more responsibility on home wastes and well, helps a lot in home management. My mother also taught me of self-rewarding but not the thing so-called shop till you drop. If you go shopping, you gotta shop wisely. I love jewelry so I look for pieces that can be pawned or sold later on especially when cash is scarce or emergency. Have a great time and happy bookkeeping.

I appreciate so much the extent you went to respond to my discussion. We do not want nor need nor have a wedding coordinator. Our wedding is in two months and some few days so we've got pretty much all except for last minute things that we can't get until the season for the things we're looking for begins. We are saving as much as we can and have taken into consideration points of education, trash disposal, savings for a rainy day, and other things that we'll want and need. I know that I want to have a garden so therefore I will need to buy things for said garden and some gardening equipment that might need to be replaced etc. We live out in the country, so our needs are basic and aren't the same as some people that may live in the city.
I appreciate your response, again as I've said above. I wish I could offer more, but I have read your response to me thoroughly and enjoyed the advice you've given me from your own standpoint.

While I do appreciate you responding to my discussion, this did not really help me any. I am in the same boat as you with not paying anything, and would like to know what others do have to pay. As well as to say that only writing a few short words is not going to do any good for your earnings. Thank you so much though for contributing to my discussion.
