Water cooler or airconditioning this Summer?

I live in a old doble wide trailer is nice but it has a water cooler. My husband want to get an airconditioning system but I have some doughts about it. I wanted to know what you all think and please help me make a decision. I care about the earth but at the same time I care more about my family bein gcomfortable during this hot summer. I know that airconditioning is expensive not just the system but also the electicity but it might keep the house cooler. The water coler is ok but it makes everything so humed and when it is humed out side it those not work that good and also when it is to hot out side. The bad thing about the AC is that the house is old and is not seald right so the cold air will excape and it might take more power to make the house cold. A guy come over the give an estimate to conect the AC and he is charging 1200 dollars becasue he has to cansel the cooler and put some vent and other things. I think that 1200 is to mutch money but my husband really wants it and he is trying to convince me but its to mutch. I think it would be better to just get a new water cooler they start at 300 dollars and they have a good size. But the things about the new water cooler is that I don't know if it would actually make a diference. So that is why I really need your help, I just don't want to make a decision without knowing what might be better and at the end regreat the decision.
