Money really is the root of all evils! How far would you go?

There has been so many instances where someone has killed someone or taken custody of someone for nothing more than money. Why? Is there really that much importance in money that you would sacrifice your happiness, morals or child's happiness for it? I am not a saint by any means. However, I am a mother, an aunt, a sister, a godmother, and a friend of many children. I love children. THey are our future. I have recently read that the woman who had Michael Jacksons two older children now seeks custody. What about them? their needs and wants? Most importantly what about the other, third child that isnt hers? Why would you want to separate them? Its a known fact that after the not guilty finding in the child molestation case she hasnt seen them since. Its clear that she has no real interest in being a mother. Why is she doing this? MONEY! I see it alot. Look at people who kill people they dont even know for money. Is it that important? Right now I am unemployed. I havent had any money of my own in a month. My fiance, thank god, is paying all my bills and his. When he's finished he is broke. I havent been able to save money because I used it when we had the fire last year and lost everything. It is tough and yes, I cry alot. I never once thought of hurting someone or selling a child because I needed money. How about you? How far would you go?

My heart goes out to you. Fires are bad, and can take away everything. I am sorry that happened to you. Do you happen to live in the East Texas area? If so, i know of several resources that are open to you. I don't believe in killing and hurting people to begin with, much less for money. Heck, we get out and work, for what we want or need. Not take someone elses money or life. I think anyone who would do such a thing, is self absorbed, selffish, and uncaring.

Shirley I have never wished for anything as bad as I wish I lived near you. Just to be able to have you as my friend would be awesome. I dont mean to sound corny but I dont have anyone here that even offered to help me find resources. I was really hurt to see that the people I called friends werent worth a thing. I think that the way money changes people into monsters is amazing. I care what people think and that may be wrong but its hard not to. I just want people who dont judge by how much or how little you've got. Its so ridiculous. dl

Great point as always Lakota! You are correct. Money cant buy love.Lust maybe. I think it is great if you have it. Use it wisely. DOnt let it control you. If you did kill for money. Maybe you might not be lucky enough to let it get you out of it. Its not always a blessing to be wealthy. So Ive heard!. I must admit I would like to find that out for myself. RIght now I am literally struggling everyday.I must've applied for over 200 jobs. The economy is killing me. I am still here with my family. I love them no matter how hard life is. Money is just paper. dl

I am so sorry about all the problems you've been having! I'm so sorry about you losing everything in the fire! I don't have any children, myself, but I sure wouldn't sell a child in order to have money. I love children, too.I am living on SSI, myself, so I know what you mean about money problems. However, it's not money itelf that is the root of all evil. It's the love of money that's the root of all evil. This is in I Tim. 6:10. Happy mylotting! Kathy.

Thanks Kathy! I was just sitting here feeling sorry for myself when I opened up myLot and read your response. I have been thru a lot but thanks to friends like you sending good thoughts and prayers, its been easier to deal with. I hate not being able to afford to go places right now. I am praying that I will find employment soon. I am familiar with Tim 6:10. It is very true. The sad part about it is that money is inanimate object and has such overwhelming power. Go figure. It does hurt not to have. We are enjoying each other and right now that is all I could ask for. Thanks again and Happy MyLotting.dl

the phrase is actually 'the love of money is the root of all evil' money itself is not evil but i have to admit in my estimation it is the new religion. it is all about money, all the major wars that have been and are going on are about money. i cannot abide people who will hurt or use children in order to get money. i do not believe in having a child unless you really want one not for maintenance or child benefit. honestly though, if my little niece was gravely ill or had been taken by someone, she is basically like my own child, well if something happened to her and i had to do something questionable to ensure her safety i would not hesitate for even a second to do it.

Thanks for the phrase update. But honestly I wasnt trying to use the phrase entirely. The point really was that money is becoming more important than peoples morality. Yes it is a bit different if you are a celebrity and have the finances. I do agree that having a child, be it yours biologically or a relative,is a gift not a given. It is sad that people look at children as meal tickets. Unfortunately there is not a lot we can do about it. Except keep on being the people we are. Good ones! Thanks Mama bear! Its good to know I am not alone in my thoughts. dl

Th root of all evil is not money. The root is the person doing it. Toinks. Without money, good deeds cannot be done like giving food, cothings, etc to the poor or building schools. yeah?

Very true Andrew. However I think because people have given so much power to this inanimate object, it has a life of its own. What Im trying to say is that people have put so much of themselves into getting the most money that money literally has more power than a human being. Its crazy. Yes money is needed for a lot of good things as well. We all know that in order to get any of the things you mentioned accomplished you have to use promises of money. So for something that is inanimate,Money is sure controlling a lot of issues. Its like people are doing what ever they can buy with money, no matter how good, bad, or expensive. How fair is that? Thanks friend dl

This is what scares me.. honestly there's always a time when i think about that. I had plans and scenarios.. about robbing, money laundring, even new kind of crime... Sometimes i'm angry to my life... each time i decided to choose the legit plans and scenarios, they didn't work and always by something 'extraordinary'... seems like the universe are always have a good time by making fun of me... their joke 'suxz'.. not creative.. always the same.. but, finally i laugh... because i never want to do that, and i always choose not to.. i don't bow to money and i don't crawl for money... That's is how far i have gone..

I must admit writon that when I began reading your response I was a little confused as to what you were getting at. Then I began to see that it has been an issue for you. I mean money is something that you have worked hard on to make sure it doesnt control you. From what I've read I think you have been over and over it in your mind. Its just another example of how it can wear on you in a psychological way. Thanks so much. THis has become an experiment and you just filled in a ton of unanswered questions. dl

I think we should never compare us lesser mortals with such illustrious celebrities! They are in that strata of society where money is akin to oxygen, dear! It’s a completely different world…our emotions and thoughts and understandings in no way similar…so no point in thinking how far I would go for money! I would never ever in my wildest dream have any scope of coming into so much money…so why torture myself by building castles in the air!

You are correct that they do walk a different line than we do. However, that is because that's how society has deemed it. When all the dust clears the rules are the same. I do know what you mean with celebrities and money. Unfortunately money buys anything. This is true. Money cant buy the way your conscience feels. Money cant buy your childrens love. Some believe it that it can. In the end, we all know it wont. Most of us wont ever even come close to have gazillions of dollars. We have our dignity. Our power to decide. Unless we choose to be weak, no one can take that away. It is up to all of us especially the up and coming celebrities, politicians, etc to make an effort to do the right thing no matter what the numbers in the bank accounts read. What will happen when its all gone? If they were smart they would keep their dignity, and teach their loved ones to follow the examples they set forth. Time will truly tell.... To be honest as long as people put such a high value on money we will always have crime, evilness, and hate. I guess I answered my own questions. Thanks for your help friend! dl

Actually it is not money being the root of all evil, it is the love of money. We do not know why Michael Jackson's former wife (he was not a saint, by the way) did not see the children. There are things that we do not know. Perhaps she was not allowed to, and that she was told to say that she had willingly given up their custody to Michael Jackson. You see Michael was a famous person and courts would bend over to him, and lawyers are not above blackmail. As for the needs of the children needs, it is not up to us to decide. It is up to the judge. If he or she finds that the former Mrs. Jackson was asked to keep in touch and Michael said ,"please visit the children, don't pretend they are not yours, etc" the judge will know and unless she shows that she regretted her decision and was too proud to take it back, the custody might go to one of Michael's sisters. I would not go so far as to hurt someone for money or for anything. It is not right.

Just a little background information. Debbie Rowe was MJ's nurse at the dermatologist. He thought she was the perfect person to surrogate a child. In order to skip all the innuendo and red tape as far as custody and paternity, he married her. From the very beginning she has said herself that she had not intentions on seeking custody. She believed that Michael was doing a great job. You and I both know that he didnt marry for love. She has said it herself. She did a service and was handsomely paid. When MJ was accused for the second time and it went to court she stepped in because she wanted to ensure that the children wouldnt go to social services and some say MJ didnt want them to go to his family. We'll never know because he was found not guilty and Ms Rowe again stepped out of the picture. She said MJ was quite capable. According to the staff and children they havent seen her in a while. The will was made public the other day and it is said to state that MJ wanted his mother Katherine to care for the children. If she couldnt, it was to be Diana Ross. MJ did make provisions and it seems that Ms. Rowe, the biological mother wasnt an option. In my opinion it is because she was just a perfect candidat for what MJ was looking at genetically for a child. I have said from the very beginning that this will not end amicably. We'll see. dl

Look at Bernie Madoff and just see what money can do....he stole part of so many people's life with his greed. I have always said that greed is a mental illness...I love children too....would never ever think of selling or giving one away...their wishes and needs should be taken into consideration....

Money is NOT the root of all evil. Don't blame an inanimate object for people's greed. It's the love of money that is the root of evil. I feel very sorry for those 3 children, and I hope they at least get to stay together, although I'm pretty convinced the reason their grandparents want them is because of the money too. I've found that there are times when money is so short I was wondering if I have any thing worth selling that I could get some fast money from, but honestly, I'd rather trust in the creator to help me find a solution to financial problems than go rob a bank or kill someone for money. {{Shudder}} the thought just makes me ill.

It is true, money is inanimate object. Because of the way people yearn for it, it has taken on a life of its own. Society allows this inanimate object to dictate their every move. I cringe at the thought of how bad this whole situation will get. dl

When you come down to it money is just paper, it's what it can buy that is so important to people, power is one of the most attractive things. I only need enough to feed, cloth and house myself and my family including animals. If I have more I just give it away where needed.

1 Timothy 6:10 says For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. You can hear around the world how people kill each other for money. How they treasure money and all. God himself compared money to be favored by men instead of Him as in Matthew 6:24 " No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money. As money makes the world go round, meaning money can turn a right one into wrong, an innocent person into a criminal if someone bribes the law. Money should be the slave, not the master of men. Use money wisely and do not be greedy since this will be the start of favoring money above all. If man can only be satisfied and content with what he or she have, then they are following what God tells them about choose whom you will serve. Whatever the issues about celebrities, they will have their share if time comes by and they will also meet God. All of us is accountable.

I see, you really had have a tough time before, when you're in the predicament of lacking money to use. Wish you all the best, may you will go through all these difficulties soon. It is true that money plays an important role in this world, and in our life. It is the thing needed to enable all the tradings going on. Why are we all people working hard, why people would find their ways to get this money, no matter how. All these are due to the reality, without money we can't survive. However, it is even more important that we get to earn money in a proper way. It shouldn't be get the money by cheating others, harm or even kill others for it. No matter how difficult or how tough life can be, we still should not betray the kindness of ourselves and do all the bad things in order to get money, or to have a better living. To have more money is good, but it is even better we have it in the proper way, and just live a simple and contented life.

Thanks for the kind words my friend. You have said it all! I totally agree. Its sad that money has literally taken on a life of its own. If you have no money, you are considered less than. What about the people that have money and have no morality. People like myself who speak on it our wrong or jealous because we have none. I am going thru the most difficult time in my life right now. My daughter has cancer and I am out of work broke. I love my kids. We talk and spend time together. Because I cant afford medications and other things, I am bad. What about all the times I have given more than I should. Where are the people to help me. NOWHERE. And to be honest with you, I cry every night that by me not having employment will cause my daughter's illness to progress and I will not be able to afford meds she needs. This is the scaredest I have ever felt. I wish that all those who look upon children as meal tickets could walk a mile in my shoes. dl

You are so right, dloveli. People can go way too far just for money. My boyfriend has been unemployed for allmost half a year, but I would never hurt anyone just to get more money. It has been tough paying both our bills and my and collegebooks and college bills. Though, I can't see why someone would choose such desperate matters. There are a lot of other ways to make money and there are most likely people who can help you when you struggle. My boyfriend is on a temp job right now but at least he has something, so that's great. That way we can start saving again and get everything back on track. I hope you will be able to find a new job soon aswell.

I'd rather work for my money even if that meant I had to babysit and clean houses with my own business or do all sorts of odd jobs. I'd do whatever I could to make sure that I exhausted all the other means of money making first before I actually went to committing crimes to make money. I don't think I'd go past robbery though. I'm not going to kill someone for money. That is insane and no one deserves to die just because someone needs money.

money can turn a good man to a real terrible bad man overnight and can change the life of someone from worst to good, i think money is not everything in life, peace is the most important thing, i like money though but i can only go for those within my grabs i don't want to push anything
