Have you met someone sharing the same name as you?

I was browsing through Facebook today and what caught me by surprise is I found someone having exactly the same name as mine. Sharing my christian name is common everywhere but what perplexed me is we also have the same surname and both of us are from different ends of the world. Out of curiosity I requested her to be my friend and she agreed to my request. So as normally done in facebook they will write who has been friends with whom and I found it interesting to read 'Angela L is now friend to Angela L.' Facebook is one of the most popular social site that connects old friends and classmates as well as the unknowns. Though I don't regularly use facebook but what draws me there is their farm town which is a popular game that teaches you to be a progressive farmer in the virtual world. It is interesting and addictive. Have you met someone sharing the same name as yours?

Thank you for chatting here and hope you don't get hooked up in the chatroom. I don't see any benefit at all from chatting with strangers. They can paralyse your brain and makes you feel excited for a short while and gone the next. Surrender.......

learning is an on going process, and even when you are with a walking stick your appearance in the chatroom will always be appreciated. The virtual world trains people to act what they are not. Fine polished words are spices used by chatters to be glued to the chatroom. I know it....too damaging.

It is strange but true. It is as though a reincarnation of myself in another place. The other holder of the name is a very young lady.

Hi raj, you should be very thankful to your parents who are far sighted as they have chosen a unique name for you. In this world you are one and only person that carries your name and you can proudly say your name is your trademark. Rajib is a nice name, and so is the owner.

I had done a search on my name around a month ago, and found quite a number of people having the same name and surname as me. Some of them are even staying in the same country as me. I will have to say I'm not very surprised about it, as my Chinese surname is one of the most common Chinese surname around the world. There are probably billions of Chinese having the same surname as me. As for my name, it's also nothing unusual too. However, I had yet to meet anyone with the same name and surname as me. I had met before people with the same name, but not the same surname as me.

It is not surprising as most chinese have common surnames but only the second name differs.

Yes, it's certainly true. There are a lot of Chinese who have the same surname. With so many Chinese, it's really not hard to find people with same names...

Yeah my mother got it from a woman that she use to work with years ago. Her name was spelled different though. A lot of people try to spell my name Shawnee like the Indian Tribe but I correct them and tell them that my name is spelled with a u. Thank you very much.

Hi Shaun, Shaun is a nice name and probably the name Shaunee is a modified name originally from the name Shaun. It is unique and not many people thought of this nice name.

Yes, I used to have a friend who had the same name as myself. It used to feel quite strange calling his name out - it felt sometimes I was calling to myself! - Derek

Hello my friend zandi458 Ji, So far I have not come across exactly same way. But, when I got sick during our stay in US (2003), and wanted to visit some Doctor, at that time we were also not ver familiar with face-book and internet as well, but still my hubby looked for some Doctors of our 'SIR' names and he found some 23 Doctors of similar 'SIR' names. Then we phoned up as well, and then we further found, on eof them belonged to our home town as well. We had telephonically talk and advises about our sickness. Beyond the boundaries of sickness, it brought us very close. I fully ubderstand, what feelings, you have now. May God bless you and have a great time.

I am always feel surprise when I browse Friendster and facebook. I have duplicate names. The same with what you find. I have 15 person, with the same first name and surname with mine but have different middle name. Some are single and married. I thoughts at first that somebody like to make a joke on me and she registered with the same name with me. I think my name is unique and nobody have the same name with me. I look at their files of my namesake. I didn't even know them and not even my relatives. I really feel annoy having the same namesake. Also, when I make an account with facebook, I have a two namesake. In reality, I have never meet them. But, i wish too. But, better if they are single. because I am single and the other people listed with the same name with me are married. Now days, i am no longer feel annoy. I just accept it and in fact feel glad that their parents choose the same name with me. Really a big coincidence.

well, infact i did. while i was in school, there was this boy with the exact name as mine, the surname was different though. the best part was both our roll numbers were next to each other and the teachers would get real confused with our names. but, we looked the contrast as i was quite fat and hefty while he was lean and thin. even my name was based on a hindu god. i guess it is common for people whose names is based on gods to run into each other as a lot of children get named inspired by the mythological characters as per their religion.

Yes! I have had this experience before another girl with the exact same name from the U.S. added me. It's funny cause we don't look alike at ALL! it's cool though cause you think that somewhere back in our history we could have the same relatives and could actually be related. it funny how everything works out! I have to admit that i am a rather avid facebook fan so it was cool to have her name pop up on my profile.

That is the only concern of having to share the same name. If the other person has bad reputation then we who share the same name indirectly bears the brunt.

There is someone with the same name as me and she happens to be a successful realtor and obviously nothing like me! Years ago I worked with a guy whose name was Paul and we shared the same surname. We often received each other’s mail etc. One day Paul said to me as he delivered something that belonged to me which had been sent to him by mistake, “Please get married Paula and don’t marry my brother!”

Hello Zandi, I have come across a couple of guys who had the same first name as mine but I have never met a person with the same surname as well. The thing is that my name has been very carefully thought after and it has got a bit of Indian Mythology going into it. Hence, it is really difficult for people to have the same first name and even if they do it, having the same surname is going to be nearly impossible.

Your parents have given you a unique name that bring out a special meaning. I am sure it is not an easy name to be used by others. When I found someone having exactly the same first and second name as mine I was a bit curious and went all out to check where she comes from. She might be as surprised as I am when she finds that another person shares her name.

When i was younger i met my classmate's cousin with exactly the same first and last names as mine. While in college the postmaster told me my letter was opened by mistake by our school nurse who also have the same first and last names. And now that i'm married my sister in law and i share the same first and last names! One time our office issued me a check and printed on it was my married name but what caught my attention the moment i read it was the middle initial. It was supposed to be A for my maiden name but on that check was P which is my husband's middle initial (we work in the same company). And then i blurted out saying "my sister in law can encash it, it's in her name!" It's good we have different nicknames! This is one of the reasons i write my complete name -- my two first names, my whole middle (maiden name)hyphenated with my married family name, just to set me apart from the many women i share my very common name with.

Ah...yours is more complicated as you live to share your name with a number of people. It looks like complications have started to show up with you. It is good that you add in your married name. This will solve any problem in future.

Twice I have received a package that belonged to someone else with the same name. I also noticed on my credit report that there was an address there for a person that had or used the same name as me in a town about 250 miles away. The funny part though was with the first package I received. I came home from work and my wife said I had a parcel. She had opened it and inside was a t shirt with a note from a girl that said she missed me and couldn't wait for me to visit her again. It was funny because if my wife had not known better then it could have been fatal, we still laugh about it after 15 years. The second package was couriered just a few months ago, I signed for it thinking it belonged to my wife. As he drove away I noticed that it didn't belong to us and got phoned him to come back for it, I told him the story about the first time and he had a good laugh.
