Which is the correct way to eat your fruits? Before meal or after meal?

White Nectarines - One of my favourite fruits is the white nectarine from Australia. They are juicy and very sweet.

I believe many myLotters are lover of fruits just like me. I eat fruits everyday. And of cos, everyone know that fruits is good for our bodies. Since young, my mother would let us eat our fruits after meal. Recently, there are many reports that say that the correct way of eating fruits should be before meal. They say that if we eat our fruits after meal, the vitamins of the fruits will not be absorbed into our bodies as our intestines are still working to digest all our food from our meal. So, what do you think is the correct way of eating your fruits, before meal or after meal???

Nutritionist, doctors, majority of health conscious people recommends to eat fruit 15 minutes before a real meal. So its always like before meal. And if you are into cleansing or healing diet, you have to eat fruits after every 2 hours. Why 15 minutes before meal?. Its because the fruits will serves as a cleaning tool for the body. It has fibers to remove those toxins away and it will clean your colon. The body is prepared for the real meal after 15 minutes of eating fruits. Most of the health articles i read said the same thing. I am actually applying it in my everyday life. My fruits consist of apples, oranges and papaya. I do get varieties of fruits though every weekend.. happy mylotting and smile always!

I think everybody will have different opinions about this topic. As to me, I think having the fruits after meal is better. As the desserts are served after main course. And fruits are one kind of dessert. So I think it is much more suitable to have the fruits after meal. I love China

I say before, after and instead of, the more the better. If you want to get the most out of fruits and vegetables, eat them raw. I eat about 5-6 apples per day plus watermelons, carrots, tomatoes and much more. I usually add them to the main meal. for example, if i want soup, i'll make broth, add some grains or beans to it, and after it's done and a little cooled i'll add raw veggies to it. great taste and a lot of vitamins.

I must say that you are a great lover and eater of fruits and vegetables. You cook really very healthy with lots of veggies and fruits. I am still trying to eat as much fruits and veggie everyday now. Keep it up =))

Yes, this is what those reports have been saying. I also believe in them but sometimes I will still fruits after meals especially if I eat light meals. Cheers =))

I think now more and more studies are showing that it is more beneficial to our health to eat fruits before meal as the nutrients of the fruits get absorded to our system better. But, for older Chinese generation like my parents, they still think that fruits must be eaten after meals. I got a hard time trying to change this eating habit. But then, I think that as long as they are happy and enjoy their fruits, then I just let them be. Cheers =))

I believe that eating fruits before meals helps the anti-aging process as it expels vitamins and minerals right away into our system to fight off deseases..if eaten after a meal.they are last to be consumed and with the heat of the internal digestive system ...nutrients get perishable and discarded

hai mylotters the best way to have fruits is after meals and which gives a finishing garnish to our stomach as beetle leaves do and fruits get assimilated in the stomach after having food than before which cause acidity when we consume citric fruits.

Hello there =)) thanks for sharing. Indeed many people have different preferred ways of eating their fruits. My mum also told me about citric fruits being too acidic for our empty stomach. No matter what, just eat lots and lots of fruits and veggies cos they are good for your health. Cheers o

Why not eat it with the meal? Sometimes, when I'm eating something that doesn't taste that great, I eat fruit with it to spice it up. Does that mean I'm not getting my nutrients, if I'm eating everything at the same time? I don't know, but it's delicious!

Well, I'm not too sure whether you will not get any vitamins or nutrients from fruits if you eat them together with your meal. But this is what the health experts/reports said. ButI think most important is that you just eat your fruits the way you enjoy. Maybe, you can try eating fruits before meal and see whether you like it or not. Cheers =))

Hello China-lover =)) I think Chinese tradition is eating fruits after meal. The Chinese will see fruits as dessert to be eaten after meals. No matter when you eat your fruits, just eat lots of fruits cos they are really good for your health o

I eat fresh fruit as a snack or with lunch. My mother always served fruit as a dessert for our Sunday dinner. For instance her home-canned peaches or pears with a little cool-whip on it. I think fresh fruit and vegetables are good for you any time.

Yes, yes, fresh fruits and veggies are definitely more beneficial to our bodies than cooked or processed fruits and veggies. I am lucky that I can get all kinds of fruits in Singapore. We can easily buy tropical or climate fruits. Happy myLotting =))

i do not think it matters as long as you get them in each day and get the health benefits they provide. i prefer to eat my fruit alone and use it as a snack or dessert if you will. i love all kinds of fruit and like it chilled. some experts say you should eat fruit alone and wait an hour before consuming any other foods but i do not have time to adhere to such nonsense. i eat when i have time and then move on to my next task.

I learned some other explanation to eat fruits first.It is quite different.the article says,we have to eat easily digestible foods first and so fruits should be taken prior to meals.If taken after a heavy meals,then the fruits will be waiting for the meals to get digest and pass on and will result in heavy stomach.But in my experience that holds no value.Eating fruits after meals speed up digestion.So,have fruits only after meals.Cheers!

From what I've read before the right way is eating fruit before meals... coz its easier to digest and the body can easily absorb its nutrients or valuable content. If you eat starchy foods or meat, it takes time to digest so by the time you eat some fruits its already stuck in there, in the stomach waiting for heavier foods to be digested first. Besides, eating fruits helps in bowel movement and makes the skin smoother and younger.

I notice this fast few days, that the fruit must eat before meal, to enjoy the nutrient and not to waste it, because if we ate it after meal the vitamins and nutrient are wasted, but before i usually eat fruit after meal since i was a child.

I eat fruits after meals. We do take apples in the morning but we avoid oranges after breakfast. Mainly, because it is acidic. Our meal consist of veggies and meat. We add fruits as desserts. If we end up eating fruits before the meal, the all the cooked food will be leftover. Eating fruits after meals completes the diet.

Since young, my mum only let us eat fruits after meal. Cos to her, fruits are like dessert. She also say that orange is too acidic to be eaten with empty stomach. Of cos, there is no fixed way of eating fruits, just enjoy and eat fruits in which ever way you like. Cheers =))

I often eat banana, and I ate it after meal, I consider eating fruits after meal as my dessert. No doubt fruits has a lot of vitamins that can help sustain our body with energy.

Different people have different habits of eating fruits, some eat them as appetizers, some eat them as dessert just like you, while some eat them as meal. No matter what, just continue to eat and enjoy your fruits. Happy myLotting =))

I eat fruits, before the meals, between the meals, and after the meals, without any meals :D What do you say of that mate? Eat fruits, at least once a day, but anytime a day :) Happy MyLotting!

Well as a traditional way we also eat fruits after meal. That was my first time to hear about that fact. Where did you get that? Uhmm it feels so strange if I will change my way of eating fruits, anyway ill try to do that. Whatever it is, the most important is we eat fruits everyday. Right?

i have received an e-mail today saying that it is better to eat fruits on an empty stomach. It should be eaten before meal not after meal. That way fruits will greatly help for the detoxification of your body.

Yes, indeed I do believe that it is truely more beneficial to our bodies when we eat fruits with an empty stomach or before meals. But I don't really restrict my habit of eating fruits to only these timing. Cheers =))
