"Life is what it is" or "life is what you see it is" Can you tell the difference and is it important?

Hi savypat, I would say that life is what you see it is and I feel that there is a difference. People do not see things in the same way and one person might be very happy and another very miserable under exactly the same conditions. Blessings.

I'm not sure I'd actually *choose* between those two statements. Life, for me, is both static ("what it is") AND a product of my perception ("what you see it is"). When it rains, that is simply "rain falling," a FACT. I may PERCEIVE that the rain is "good" if my lawn is dry and brown, and I may PERCEIVE that the rain is "bad" if I am having an outdoor party. I believe that what is important is to "make life what you want it to be." That is, stay awake to what's going on around you, rather than be on "autopilot." Engage in the process of life, rather than be in a place where it always feels like life "happens TO you." Or, as a friend of mine often says "RESPOND to life, rather than REACT to it." Interesting question-- thanks for posting it!

I guess I go with the second one. I believe that perception is everything. You can change what something is by how you view or perceive it, so life is what you see it is.

'Life is what it is'- to me the meaning of these words:Life can't be changed. It will go on its own way. 'Life is what you see it is'- That means everybody has its own outlook about life. The person wants life should go in his or her desire.I think the second is more important.

Hi pat, from my perspective I would say "life is what you see it is" because each person have their own experience and their own way seeing life and also their own way living their life. If we life as a collection lifeforms where what one see of feel will be broadcast to others, then we could say "life is what it is" where life is a flat line. just IMHO. BR.b

I can tell the difference and I believe that both are true. Life is what it is - there are some things that you just can't control in life. People call it luck, others call it destiny. Those types of things, you just have to deal with. Life is what you see it is - perception matters. Different people perceive things differently. Some see the glass half-full, some see it half-empty. But for both cases, what you do with life is what matters most. How you deal with what is "handed" to you and how you "perceive" your life is what makes all the difference.
