http://www.snopes.com/religion/666bill.asp i know a lot of people have feelings towards the number 666 but is it really necessary to freak out and buy more items to change it? i mean isnt that a little extreme? no disrespect to anyone.. just wondering how many people really find this such a horrible omen that they would do things to change it instead of just writing it off as chance etc.

666 is merely the numeric identity of the anti-christ after the beginning of the tribulation. Until the tribulation starts, the number holds no significance. You can rest easy.

I content that 666 had nothing to do with Nero. First, Paul openly told his followers in Christ, to submit themselves to all authority. The authority at the time was Nero. This also made him very unpopular with the Jews. More than that, the anti-christ is only supposed to appear when he makes a peace treaty with the nation of Israel. At the time of Nero, there was no nation of Israel, nor did he even attempt to make peace with the Jews. Finely, there were a number of things the Anti-christ was to do, that Nero never accomplished. A one-world government. One-world religion. One-world currency. A mark on the hand or forehead for use in commerce. In short, Nero fulfilled nothing that the mark of the beast 666 was to accomplish. Thus the passage clearly wasn't in reference to him.

It's called superstition! And, it's hogwash to the extreme. The number 666 is a number that will represent "The Beast", but until that entity comes along, the number itself is meaningless. Numbers do not have powers, are not evil, cannot cause evil to occur. They are simply representations of quantity or identification. When this person, the Anti-Christ, finally arrives, we will recognize the symbolism. But, until then, there is nothing to fear from that particular series of three numbers. In Arizona, back in the 90s, people living along Route 666 forced the state to change the route number because they felt it was an association they didn't want on their records. It's just so silly and so time consuming to be worried about such a small detail when the larger picture of what it will someday mean is far more important.

Ive had people refuse change due because it came to $6.66. I have actually asked people if i could give them an extra penny so their change wasn't that amount...and i was like...no...I'm not giving you extra money. that's your change and that's what your getting. i wasn't quite that rude about it but that's the basic of what i had to say.

LOL Maybe you should tell them that you will give them one LESS penny if it means so much to them, then you can pocket that penny. Isn't it funny they would ask for one MORE penny but wouldn't think of asking for one less? I would if I were that superstitious.

Hi Moon...I really don't like getting the number as a total to a purchase or a change balance, but I don't make any big deal about it. I just descretely tell the cahier I am giving her a extra penny for the purchase and would she keep the penny in the drawer or put it in the penny box from my change. otherwise, I don't make a bis scene. flutterby

Funny that you would bring up this topic as just the other day, my total did come out to 6.66. Yes, it was a little freaky so I did add something. I bought a small individual chocolate covered cherry. It worked out because the cherry was well worth it, tasted great! I am not one for superstitions, maybe it was just an unconcious excuse for the chocolate covered cherry?

I wouldn't freak. It's nothing but pure superstition, in my opinion. I've had things happen with specific dates, amounts, whatever, such as Friday the 13th, etc. and nothing bad ever happened. Of course, my disability hearing took place on Friday the 13th in February and I'm STILL waiting to hear whether I've been approved or not! It's funny, though. I just noticed yesterday, while looking at my earnings here because myLot hasn't updated since last Thursday (at the moment, anyway), that my earnings so far this month are $4.20. My son would get a kick out of that because of what the number 420 stands for (it's wacky-weed time!). I've been standing at $4.20 since last Thursday. LOL If I were superstitious, I'd have to think that this is an omen that I should maybe start smoking pot to ease the pain I have daily. But, I'm not superstitious and have no desire to end up in jail at my age, so I'll just pass on that potential meaning.

Well i would not freak out but then some are more superstitious than others. After all its not only numbers but also represent the mark of the beast. The bible said so and we all know that its our guide in this world.

I don't really care about this number, because I don't have a religion. I don't believe that number gonna do anything to anyone. Why would people freak out? Well, when it going to come for you, it just would come for you for whatever reason. So, don't worry what going to happen. There is no escape.

Doesn't bother me one bit, there are more real things to worry about than some numbers. You can take any number or a set of numbers and twist it around to make them good or evil. I don't see any point to freaking over 666, it's there, it's a number, but no big deal.

It is unfortunate that none of my Indian or Hindu friends have responded to this discussion. The fact is nine is considered a very lucky number and 666, combination is considered quite lucky as far as people in India are concerned.666,999,333 or any combination which totals 9 is considered very lucky. In fact you have to pay some special fees to get this number for you car or mobile phone. Personally speaking, I had my triple by pass surgery on 6/6/06, i.e 6th June 2006. Well I am doing fine. (Now dont tell me that the devil has entered my soul and my heart).

No I never freak out, that is just a superstition, I actually kind of chuckle when I see it just because I find it to be a funny coincidence...I think that anyone who freaks out over it is just raising their blood pressure unnecessarily, because it is just weird odds that that is the total, nothing bad will happen, if something does, I would be willing to bet all my money on it that it would have happened either way...I hope people save themselves grief or possible future heart attacks by just chilling out.

It's a number. That is all. I'm not really a superstitious kind of person at all. I think that it is insane to freak out about such a thing. I find it rather ironic that religious people tend to be the ones always finding evil in everything. I've gotten bills that were $6.66 before. One of those times was at a Mexican restaurant and you know what? I ate that burrito and it was delicious, very heavenly if you ask me. hehe. I don't understand these people at all, but if they can do whatever they want I guess.

Yes I will not to me take the mark as of that number. I know some people might think that is odd but I do not care. It is a bad number and I do not want to be associated with it at all. Take care and I hope for your sake you would not either:) Happy mylotting to you as well.
