This shot shows some of the zuchinni that is finally forming in my garden. It has been a very dry spring/summer here in Minnesota. I water the garden daily though but not the lawn as we have a watering ban and I can only water my lawn on odd numbered days. I can't wait to make some bread etc with my zuchinni. What is your favorite way to have fresh grown zuchinni? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Dry? We are having our longest dry spell down here since 1917, almost 92 years. But now back to zuchinni, I like any squash fried and I also love zuchinni bread.

Our yearly rainfall is a lot higher than yours. I think we are like 4 or 5 inches behind normal this spring/summer so far. Not too sure but we are way behind precipitation here. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Don't talk to me about zucchini... this is the second year in a row that they've refused to grow for me. I like them raw with dip or in a salad, grilled on the bbq (brush them with oil first), grated up into bread, sliced and made into a layer of lasagne, dipped in batter breaded and fried, mixed in with eggs...

Do not put the seeds in the ground until a little later. Squash and melons are hotter weather crops.

I'm surprised you are having so much trouble growing zucchini, BarBara. I've stopped growing it cause they grow too easy for me. That's one veggie I can never get rid of when I'm overloaded with them.

How much do I love zucchini, let me count the ways. I love it sliced like a cucumber, shredded like slaw, grated in zucchini bread. I love it steamed with butter, fried and breaded. I like it in a dish with beef and tomatoes, or roasted with peppers. It is a really likeable squash.

Once again wishing for a green thumb. I like zuchs lightly breaded. Fry in a little olive oil. Add a dash of salt and pepper. Makes for a yummy treat. My grandmother could make some, it was out of this world good.

Hi again...me again lol. I love zuchinni steamed with a bit of pepper and salt, or in bread or cookies. It's also good mixed with carrots and brocolli. Karen

Well Bob see this discussion is several weeks old so - how's the zuchinni doing? Got any bread to send my way yet? I so so miss the fresh produce - maybe next year.

Since I'm the only one in my family that likes it, I've stopped growing zuchinni. Only way I like it is cubed and fried in a bit of oil with onions and herbs.

Hello Grandpa Bob...We had a wet spring here, in fact we had alot of flooding going on, but it sure is dry now, we haven't gotten much rain. I think everybody here are having to water their gardens every other day also. We don't have one this year, not sure when we'll ever have another one..ha. I like zuchinni breaded and fried like you would do squash or green tomatoes, I know its not healthy for you, but thats probably the only way I would eat it.

I usually just slice the zuchini and saute it in a little olive oil. Could you water your lawn if you used bottled water?
