Do you follow the news?

By that I mean, do you buy and read newspapers, watch the news channels, actively look to know what is happening in your community, city, country or the world? Or maybe you don't actively look for news, knowing that either way, if something is important enough you will hear about it. When you find some specific news that actually do interest you, do you look for more information? Personally I fit in the second description. IF something needs knowing, I will eventually hear about it.Newspapers interest me less and less. Many of them being made more of ads than actual news. I don't have the patience to watch the news on tv either. Or at least I will not turn on the news channel by and for myself, but I might watch if someone is already watching. Are the news something important for you to know every day?

the first thing after i get up is to turn on the tv and listen to the news,lol... when in the office, i also will read news on the computer, but only when i'm free from the work, hehe now, knowing news from the newspaper is less and less. more and more from the tv or computer.

I used to enjoy reading the newspapers, but less and less now to the point that I rarely read them. I hardly remember to turn on the tv in the morning - that's hubby's job, he's the one who watches tv :) - but usually I don't look for the news. Sometimes happens I always know anyways because everyone talks about it LOL

I have said before that we have some sisterhood going on deep under the skin. I am like the second option as well. Actually, most of the local news, if I need to know it, I will hear from my clients. Along with most of the local gossip. Anything major, I will hear about it, even if I do not seek it out.

That we do :):) Either we like it or not, the news will find its way to us even if we don't check on them each day :):)

I do HITs for mturk which involves current news so i get my daily dose of news from there. i rarely watch tv and don't have time to read the paper everyday, so mturk is where i get ALL my news from. it's a good thing, though. work plus up-to-date information is a win-win thing for me.

Yes, I follow the news...its almost like a hobby with me. As it is I love reading but do to personal preoccupations with other things, I dont have much time for storybooks and mags...the newspaper is the only thing I read back to back. I also enjoy watching news channels on TV...much better than the daily dish of soap. Also my son is in school and needs loads of info on current affairs...I am his eyes and ears

I used to enjoy reading newspapers more than I do now. Lots of sensationalist news, plenty of stories about things that I don't really care about, and most of all, so many adds that I don't know if I'm reading the newspaper or add central:) As for tv anything will be better than the daily dish of soap that I agree. But I don't really watch much tv. Now that I think about it, when my kids were younger and needed more information on current affairs I used to pay more attention.

I do not waste my money on newspapers but I listen to talk radio everyday and actively seek out news online. I look at multiple sites to get more rounded information. It interests me. I understand it does not interest every body. But I do want to caution you, when you said if you need to know it, it will eventually get out. This is not true. If you are looking at mainstream media, you only get the info they want you to have.

I know what you mean. But if something comes out that I feel I want to know more, then I will check it and look at if from all sides.

I don't read newspapers or watch television. I don't much care about what goes on in my town because it's a small bedroom community and what does on here is important only to the people involved. I get my news from a number of sources on the internet and try to get different viewpoints so I have a good idea of what is happening. Mostly, I just skim the headlines and maybe read the first paragraph, because that tells me everything I need to know.

I don't read newspapers or watch tv news, however I do read several newspapers online and if there is anything that I need more clarifying on then I will do a search for more info on it. That's one of the great things about the Internet. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I certainly look for things that I want to know more about, but as a rule I['m not paying attention to the news every day. Only when something catches my attention. And you're right, that's one of the great things about the internet.

I like to keep myself informed and updated with the things happening in the country and around the world, especially those related to business. So, I have to check the morning newspaper, the news channels on the TV , and also on the internet. Internet is becoming an excellent source for news reports, updating almost every hour too.

Yes, for some people it is more important than for others to be informed, specially for business, Thankfully I don't need it, so I don't do it LOL

Hi arkaf61, I am not reading to much newspaper lately but if I found 1 that have my attention, I will look more on that. I personally rarely buy newspaper but one of my housemate always bring one from his office. I also goggle on the net if I want more news on that particular news. News is important because you know what has happen in your area or the world. But you must chose the right source of information. Some media have a tendency to make a good report for particular side but ignore the other side. And sometime they spread lied news to make this one good and that one bad. We have to be more intelligent to filter all the information that we received. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

great points and I am with you in this subject. I will also look more closely at something that grabs my attention, and will try to get the news from all sides, because as you point out, there is a tendency to present things in a one-sided way, according to which view the newspaper or news channel supports.

Yes. When I start a day's work, I'll read the latest news on the Internet. Such as politic , entertainment etc. If something attracts me, I will read it carefully.

My husband and I read some news articles and newspapers on line, and follow world news on the BBC World Service, which streams on a local station at night, but besides that, we really don't pay much attention to the news. It's way too expensive, and we're just not interested in all the depressing stuff that's going on.

Hi there Arka! Yes, I do. I believe that it is important to be aware of what's happening around us. I watch the late night news and I also read news online. There are times when I wake up early enough or when I am ironing my uniform to wear to school in the morning, I also watch the morning news.

I learned that the important - and often the unimportant as well - always find me. I hear about them and, if I want to follow, then I do. But as a rule I don't look for them actively or every single day. However, like you I also believe that it is important to know what's happening around us.

I skim the Drudge Report online. Most things worth knowing about seem to air there first. I don't watch TV news, but do read newspapers. Not every single day, though.

Yes, I am addicted to the political news, although I can't understand all of it, I have a pretty good idea of what's happening. I like to listen to talk radio shows that discuss political views. The TV media doesn't tell us the truth (because they want Pres. Obama to shine), so radio tells me what is really going on in the world. Thanks.

Well, at least you will be informed and to be honest it's a good thing, because so many people are not really informed or educated about politics. I like to be informed, but don't feel the need to look for the news each day, unless there is something that I am interested about, in which case I will look for that information, but most probably not in the newspapers or the tv.
