How discouraging

Breaking the rules - I somehow broke the rules. But I'm really not sure that I did?

Well like many others I had my first deletion of a discussion. It was a discussion about whether people thought I could make payout by the end of the month or not. The discussion was going great, it was of good quality and I had several responses. The only possible reason it could have been deleted follows in the "dont's category of the discussion guidelines where it says "Don't thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will not increase your earnings"Now let me explain something. While I did thank many that left comments, I would say things like" Thank you for the great advice I will certainly consider these tips, but I might not do it for to long as I believe if I set a goal and don't reach it I might get discouraged so I will try it for a week or so and see how it goes."As you can see that's not just a simple thank you, but a very personal response, and each response I gave to those that left comments was different, and it was not just to boost my earnings. It was a good quality discussion from all sides in my opinion so why on earth it was deleted I just don't know?We even talked about how important it was to follow the rules in the discussion, many offered excellent tips, and it was a great discussion that would have shown all new members how supportive we are of each other here. For the record I'm not discouraged about the 60 cents I might lose, I'm discouraged because it really was a good quality discussion that could have been a benefit to mylot, and all members as it had many great tips and advice. I'm also discouraged because since I was home almost all day yesterday I took most of the day to leave good personal responses to EVERY COMMENT LEFT! That was hours of work. I'm not going to let it stop me though, I'm going to keep on because I still love mylot, and the great interaction from all members. So please tell me do you think the discussion should have been deleted? How did you feel when you had a discussion deleted, and did you ever find out why it was deleted?

It could have been deleted because there are millions of discussions like it, with people asking if they will reach payout by the end of the month. So you could have just commented on an existing discussion or just thought about it yourself. I think it might be the fact that Mylot do not want 1million virtually identical discussions.

You can talk about goals and milestones in general just not mylot specific ones, for example you could talk about your birthday milestone which is coming up or what you want to achieve in the next year etc. I think the general rule of mylot is that if you have seen a similar discussion before don't post another.

Yes I could have just commented on an existing discussion you are correct, but then from what I have learned here it would have been a discussion that was also against the guidelines, and in turn my comment would have possibly been deleted anyhow. I did think about it myself, but I was excited about how much better mylot is than other sites was using previously, and wanted to share my personal experience which is what I did. Anyhow I realize now that we can not have discussions about possibly reaching payout, or any other "goals/milestones" so I will try to find better quality discussions.

Oops I meant I will try to "make" better quality discussions that go within the guidelines.

It might have been this one: Start discussions promoting a milestone, such as birthdays, anniversaries, reaching a certain myLot rating, etc. This is best celebrated via private messaging with your myLot friends. But yep, it's discouraging. I had one deleted that was very clearly NOT a violation and when I asked, they told me it was dissing another website. Huh?

Yours certainly isn't the only discussion I ever saw asking that and they didn't all get deleted. Yep, that discussion was hilarious. I had got in an argument with the admin over at MoraChat and he banned me. So I posted a discussion saying I didn't recommend the site. One of his moderators came over here and started attacking the people who were replying, especially the ones who are on that site too. Some of the people here were great and it was totally hilarious! Wish I had a copy!

Well yeah it could fall under that category if I had reached payout and promoted that I reached it I would think?? I asked if people thought I would make it.. I guess if they decide to be "technical" about it sheesh! But if that's the case they should delete every single discussion that has been started about receiving a mylot payment, or payment from other sites, and so on. I could list many LOL! Well I guess we can't win them all eh my friend? Dissing another website? Huh?? I would have said that too Huh?? We're not allowed to have our own opinions about other websites??? Hmmm not good!

When I was still fairly new here I had a discussion deleted and I never did find out why. Like yours, it was going well and I was answering each comment that I got. I have no idea why some things get wiped out here, other than maybe someone left a comment that was inappropriate or whatever and someone else reported it and they just deleted the whole thing rather than just the comment. I remember your discussion and, no, I didn't see anything wrong with it

Ok I'm glad someone agrees there wasn't anything wrong with it LOL. Well when I checked last night before going to bed about 11 p.m. Pacific standard time there was no bad comments on there. Who knows between then and when it was deleted. Man this really bites. I wonder if after they delete a discussion if they have a way to undelete it LOL. Really something has got to be done about the deletion process. If someone reported the discussion I'd like to know on what grounds because I truly don't see how any rules got broken other than the possibility stated above, but like I said that's kind of border line because it was more than a simple "thank you".

there have been a rash of deletions lately, sometimes it appears as though the staff has been overwhelmed by reportings and they just dete everything. Hard to say what happened to yours, I guess all you can do is wonder about it and move forward

That's quite possible. There's some big conspiracy going on about certain members going around blah blah blah.. I don't like to feed into rumors but if it has any truth to it, it could be that the staff is loaded with reported discussions. Agreed we just have to keep on keeping on :)

I'm sorry this might be out of context, but I'd really appreciate if I can get an answer to this: How do I know if my discussion has been deleted? Is there a message coming from myLot that says it has been deleted? Or will I find anything in my profile that will tell me that? Thanks.

The only way I knew is because I routinely check the via the " discussions, started " to see if there are any new comments. I went to check and the discussion in question was no longer there. Unfortunately there are no notifications, though it would be nice for mylot to let us know the discussion was deleted, and why so that we can avoid making the same mistake in the future.

Wow! I didn't know that o_o next time someone gives you advice, reply "go **** yourself you damn *****! XDXD can you imagine? XD maybe mylot would be happier XD what a strange way of thinking _ your thank, like you said, were articulated and not uninspired "thank you"!

It could have been cause the site administrator wants people to be creative and figure out for them selves how to make thier money. The administrator needs creative thinkers to amke his site grow so he doesnt want us all to take everyone else's ideas, he wants us to creat our own. That would be my guess. I could be way off.

That's a good possibility, well lesson learned I guess. I'm not going to say I'm happy about it because I'm not. I could see if it were something that was way blatantly out of line but it wasn't. Good thought from you though happy mylotting.

You too, this is an interesting site. I ahve never tried out one of these sites before. It is kind of neat having discussions with people. It's kinda like yahoo answers except you get paid for it, lol.

It's against the discussion guidelines in the DON'Ts section you can read them here http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx You can thank people, just not every single user that comments, as it won't boost your earnings any.
