Will an increase in RESERVATIONS ultimately break INDIA?????

When constitution is made, these reservations are laid down for only 10 years but now they have been extended to stay as permanent feature. Today, more and more castes and communities are categorized as SC and ST which is ultimately dividing our society instead of uniting(the main motto of reservations) it. Today main reason for extending the reservations is not the welfare of SCs and STs rather is becoming a means of capturing votes during elections. According to me: -Reservations shoul be applicable but should not be based on caste, creed etc rather should be on economic, social and economic backwardness. -A better way to provide all facilities to students of backward classes to come up and compete with other student of the so called forward classes. Share your thoughts and views on this topic and let us know what you think about the present reservation system.

I could not have put it better myself. I agree with you. When the law laid down these reservations, it was so the backward classes had a fair change at mingling with the remaining sections of society. That I believe was necessary at that point in time. But now times have changed. It is quite ironic that now people who are from backward classes get so many facilities and those who are not, have to suffer just coz they are Not from backward classes. So in a sense there is a role reversal. No matter how well a person from the upper castes do, he/she will still have to suffer just coz they are from an upper caste. That is unjust in my eyes. It is high time, the whole "caste system" and all the reservations were dropped. As you correctly said, it is time to bridge the economic divide rather than focus on the caste divide.

Yah u are right my friend. This require nothing less than a "second freedom struggle" to overcome this problem. I am very much depressed by the reservations systems. My father actually has to take orders from his very junior boss, who being of so called lower class is promoted much earlier than my father. What a disaster!!!!

It is really pathetic that people get "perks" even to this day just coz they are from a "lower" class. One must be judged based on one's potential.

India is too strong a country to break for so small a reason. When Ambedkar suggested the reservation policy, he felt that within forty years of independence, there would be an assimilation of castes and there would no more be a caste system. The Indian politicians use reservation to obtain more votes, since SC and ST make up a fairly large proportion of the population. As a matter of fact, I think that there is now reverse casteism in India.

no, not exactly break. but yes, i do feel that the upper castes wrath towards the government towards the government is gradually increasing. these bl**dy motherf***rs have no good business to do. just go on piling the reservation for the sc and st. nobody thinks about stopping it. just tell me, a backward class person who is an IAS (by virtue of quota , off course), his kids what shortfalls do they have that they need quota in education, service and that all...

Yes, I do agree with you, its a very good point that once lower caste people get the benifit of reservation should not again be benifited with this system as they are now becoming self sufficient to come up and compete with others..

Indians want everything easy, because we got freedom very easily without fighting with British. We faught within country and Hindu killed 20 lacs in breakup of Hindustan Pakistan. So by reservation even any backward class dont have that much capacity to work on that vacancy still he will get and who did hard work to get degree he will remain at home without job and quality of work will deteriorate. Just we are against brahmins, but as Ambedkar or jyotiba fule educated themselves and then they fought for rights the same way existing backward class should educate themselves. Otherwise foreigners will tll us that in India after 60 years of Independence we have to teach people "Don't spit/pee in common places",

ABSOLUTELY India is wasting its HUMAN RESOURCEs with these cast based priorities.. At the end of the day the.. poor REMAINS SOCIALLY, ECONOMICALLY, EDUCATIONALLY BACKWARD!!!!! So when surveys are done.. more privileges are given again BASED ON CAST.. Again.. the poor get poorer To say the least, the POLITICIANS ARE USEING "DIVIDE AND RULE" Yet again People are not ready to think above their personal benefits... They never think of equality, unity, or the welfare of the country.... The talented CREAM is migrating to other countries (BRAIN DRAIN) Keep doing this..... the PUBLIC SECTOR IS GONNA GET DESTROYED INTO NOTHING!!

Very rightly said my friend.. The poor gets poorer!!!!!!!!! I do remember an instance when govt has declared free bicycles and some amount of money to girls who are around poverty line so that they could continue their studies, but a news on TV shows that 5 girls sitting in front bench have got mobiles in hand are also in the line to get this money and free aid. Do they really need this?? Capable parents should think that by doing this they are doing nothing good to themselselves rather are making poors and needy more in troublesome conditions.

You are perfectly right, reservations must be on the economic, social grounds. It should be made for those students that are unable to bear their study expenses because there are also many students in the general caste who have to leave their studies due to being unable to bear their expenses. But sadly the politicians are dragging the reservation policy to a wrong direction and just using it as an instrument to create and expand their vote bank. One more thing is that I feel is that there can be reservations in educational institutes but not in case of govt. job positions as it will just weaken our country by having incompetent and mis-fit people in higher and important positions. No, India will not break because of reservations, but it may break up on some other issues. Let us face the facts, reservations are here to stay. You cannot dream of abolishing reservations, because once you have the guts to abolish the reservation, the government which has done it is doomed. The reason being all the other parties will gang up against the government and pull it down and once again introduce reservations. As long as we have selfish politicians, even god cannot help India.

What can we do. We are common people whose voice is never heard. It is the money bags who are running India. If you want to be heard, either you must have lots of money, or muscle power. Otherwise, you will have to be a film star. Whatever nonsense they say is accepted by the TV channels and people.Good luck.

Hello, You are saying that we cant abolish reservations because of corrupt officers and neither could we stop selfish politicians. So, then we being a true Indian have got an ample responsibility on our shoulders to do some good to India. We can't sit idle and continue to see the growth of disastrous situations in India, we have to do some thing.

Dont have to increase reservation anymore . Reservation has already broken India. The efficiency we see in government offices is proof of what reservation can do to harm the system.

Hello thedeathknight this is checkmail and think that this SCs and STs reservations should be overruled and instead be made reservation for economically weaker society, as well as less literate peoples.Yes the reservation quota system was laid during the independence for the welfare of backward class, where they were not treated properly. But now its change as knowing the consequences peoples are now coming forward to help them personally. There must be no need for more of these obc quota's.But there must be reservation for economically poor, having less knowledge, capacity and etc.

i support your thinking.I would say that there should be equality for all the people in India.Only reservation for economically poor people will do.Our politicians should better think of this rather than dividing our country on the basis of religions ,castes etc etc.Have a good day

Yes,caste based should be stopped. But who will dare to stop it.Its impossible...i mean if someone dares all those people who are enjoying these reservation now, will they fold there hands and sky gaze?As long as congress is in ower or those pseudo secularists in power no one will dare such a thing. So no hope, the so called majority upper caste should quit india before this thing goes above head level.Sorry no hope, because India is also supported by pseudo secularists...so
