Do you/ Can you listen to music when you are doing something???

I love listening to music - I love listening to music. I have radios in all the rooms in my house. I have a wonderful audio system in my living room. I always bring my mp3 when I go out.

I am a music lover, so I listen to music everyday. During school days, I must listen to music when I am studying or revising my school work at home. My mother was really against it, she even confiscated my radio and walkman during my exam times. Now, I still cannot live without music. I listen to music when I am driving, or when I am taking a public transport, when surfing the net, when cooking in the kitchen, when ironing clothes, when exercising or just for relaxation. My hubby on the other hand, don't like to listen to music when he is doing other activities. He said that he cannot concentrate fully on his activities with all the background music. To him, listen to music is really purely listen to music. He will switch on his favourite music or songs, sits at our sofa, closes his eyes and really listen to the music or songs. I must say that due to his busy schedule, he don't often really get to sit down and listen to his music or songs. What about you guys, do you or can you listen to music when you are doing something???

I can listen to music while working, but while studying I would only listen to classical music. And even then sometimes I get too involved in the music and will not study enough. I don't generally listen to music while driving because it is important to have the use of your ears so that you can hear the cars around you. But occasionally if there are no other cars around and I'm driving a long way, I will turn the radio on at an extremely low volume.

I don't get bored easily while driving, but I also generally don't have to drive more than 2 hours a day. So it's not that bad for me. I think as long as you can still hear cars around you so that you could hear if one was going to hit, then you are driving with the music at a safe level. I've had my hearing save me several times when people started merging into me at my blind spot, and I heard them and was able to get over in time to not get hit.

If I am driving alone, I definitely need to on the radio or my cds cos i cannot bear the loneliness and quietness in the car. But I don't on the volume so loud, just loud enough to hear the melody and the lyric. If I turn it to extremely low volume, then it will frustrate me more cos I cannot completely listen to what the song is all about. Guess that is how music have different effect on different people. Cheers =))

The blind spot and lane changing is always the main reason for accidents. In fact, I have just passed my driving test during March and I still considered as green horn driving on the road. So currently, I am still driving at quite a low speed. But no matter what, I still prefer to on the radio or cd when I am driving. It makes me feel less nervous and not so lonely. Cheers =))

Money doesn't make the world go round, music does! I couldn't live without music, it's everything to me. I started off learning piano and then when I got older I starting getting into rock music and learnt to play the guitar. I love all these great new independent ways of getting involved too, websites like Sellaband, Bandengine and Slicethepie that are all helping to change the face of the music industry and get everyone involved.

Haha thanks - it's never too late to learn! It was only my love of music that inspired me to learn and from a very early age too. I would recommend the piano as a starting instrument and then move on from there, it's probably the easiest instrument to learn how to play.

Yes you can add me on to your list, but not when driving. While studying or doing any indoor activities or while travelling but not while driving. Safety is a must for our self and for others. Our passion should not harm others. Yes music is life. meapas.

I don't know why I will feel lonely and uncomfortable if I drive without listening to music especially you are driving alone with no passenger in the car. I think is the enclosed environment in the car that makes me feel that way. Thanks for your response, meapas =))

Of course yo can! Music is life. I listen to music every time. I listen in the bus, school recess, lunch, and many more. I can't really live without music. They serve as energy when doing something( that's for me) and keeps you in mood. When I clean my house, I use music so I can have a beat.

Muisc have different effect on different people. Some people can concentrate better when listening to music while other prefer it to be silent for better concentration. But no matter what, we cannot deny that music is very important to us. It can help us to relax, destress, have a calming effect, make us lively, take away our loneliness, etc etc....

Haha, I like to sing along too, but I think singing helps me focus if I already know the words because I sing as I work, keeps me working at a good pace. Kind of like how runners listen to music to keep their pace.

I had been listening to music while travelling, walking, waiting, anywhere, anytime until my earphones were broken down. I forgot buying a new one and I got used to live without listening music on my mobile phone. Nowadays, I only listen to music on my computer. I listen it even reading a book. If I listen a song frequently, that doesn't disturb me anymore. Happy myLotting

Come to think of it, I think I listen to more music during when I am younger during my school days. Now, I only listen to music when I am driving, taking the public transport, doing my houseworks, cooking, exercising and surfing the net. I don't listen to music when walking, waiting, sleeping or shopping. Take care and have a great day ahead =))

Actually yes, I do listen to music occasionally while I'm doing certain things like surfing the net, or while I'm drawing or creating, I find that listening to music keeps me relaxed and it dose help me stay motivated becuse it helps to put me in a good mood, and its not as distracting as watching TV can be, though I must say I'm not so sure that listening to a radio or Walkman while studying for exams is such a good idea lol, but I defintly understand your love of music.

Hmm.... I think so far I received a 50 - 50 opinion on listening to music while studying. Some myLotters said that they can concentrate better while other said that they prefer no noice/music while studying. It is all up to personal preference. But no matter what, I can say that all myLotters who responsed to this topic so far love music in some way or another.

To be honest I don't think I listen to music as much as you do! I guess the only time I really listen to music is at school. I'm not really the social type of person so when I'm walking in the halls or I'm in the classroom, I put on some music to ease up the so-called "tense' that surrounds me. I do listen to music from time to time at home when I'm surfing the internet but never when I'm studying. I guess I can't really study with background music on, gets my head all confused! :P

Ya, I know. Not all people can study while listen to music. I just can, don't know why my brain can just shut off the music when I am remembering important notes. Take care and have a nice day ahead =))

Hi, thhoon! Yes i like to listen to music while doing other things. I really enjoy listening to music while i am reading a book. I like a variety of different music, so it is not hard to be able to fid something to listen to. There are times when i just want to listen to music, such as your husband, and for those times i like to listen to classical. It helps keep my mind going when i am listening to music, and music has been a big part of my life since i was a child.

Now for me, I don't find time to just sit down and enjoy music alone. Think that time will be my sleeping time. But I am a person who fall asleep very fast, maybe even before a song finish....hahaha..... That is why, I will try to listen to music when I am doing my activites. I think life is boring without music.

Music is very relaxing to me. When I am feeling some kind of way, music helps me to think and analyze the situation that I am in. I am constantly listening to music, sometimes I find myself playing a song over and over, be it because of the beat or I may be feeling the lyrics. As I've previously posted, I have a selfish lover, so I can't enjoy music as I fall asleep. Music is a stimulant to the mind, body, and soul. When I am getting ready for an event, I can not do it without music. Lol, I feel that I can't do my makeup without music. I use music to set my mood. I just love music.

I love listening to music while doing things. Unfortunately my ipod broke but I would make a playlist and play it on low while doing school work. Most teacher oppose it but I think it helps me focus rather then distracting me. I need to buy a new ipod.

NO, I listen to music only when I'm in a relaxed mood.. Scientifically also ... when you are listening to music its difficult for your brain to concentrate on something else Specially in terms of study.. some people say that it is easier to study with some music in background.. but I just can't do that..

I listen to music 24/7! I can't imagine not having my ipod around me everyday. When I study, I also HAVE to listen to music. It is the only thing that will get me to focus. But, it usually has to be some kind of classical music, or just acoustic indie sounding music if I am writing a paper. Having music in the background during my everyday routines just makes my life much more enjoyable. All in all, life's a song!
