I find that a lot of my friends tend to sleep nearly all day that is such a waste of time and you have missed a lot during the day that you can do things in.What do you think?

It's definitely a waste of time. Unfortunately it's a waste of time that the body needs to recharge. There was a science fiction story, Beggars in Spain, about genetically engineered children who didn't need sleep and some of the possible advantages to that. Pretty fascinating.

I love to sleep of course when I'm extremely tired. However, as soon as my eyes open I start thinking of everything I have to do and I then need to get up. I won't be able to go back to sleep. I sleep anywhere from 6 to 7 hours a night if I'm lucky. I don't like wasting time when you have so much to do in a day. Even as a teenager I didn't sleep like my brothers and sisters. They loved to sleep and didn't care if they slept till 12 or 1 in the afternoon if our parents let them. I would say to them you are wasting your life away.

I think sleep is a necessary evil - if you dont get the proper amount of sleep you can end up sick or with a ton of other health problems. I think that sleeping during the day for me is hard - i'd rather be up and doing things with people and sleep at night. Theres less to do at night.

Spending more than 8 hours for sleep is really a waste. There is a proverb 'Sleep one hour less and you can add 5 years to your working life'. I don't sleep more than 8 hours even if it is holiday. Normally i used to go bed after midnight and i get up around 6.30 in the morning.

It dependson what time, if it is at the night time, going to bed is normal and we need rest for the day; but if it is daytime, I think it is a big waste of time, I like to do stuff during the day.

Sleeping helps you recharge your batteries and function properly throughout the day. I think oversleeping is a waste of time, think of all the other things you could have done while you were sleeping extra hours that you don't need. You should tell your friends that they re missing out on life by sleeping most of the time and that oversleeping can negatively impact their health, leading them to heart and brain problems. Usually depressed people sleep a lot in a day. Do you know the reason why your friends sleep most of the time?

sleeping that exceeds six hours is already a waste of time to me. there are lots of things that one can do in an hour. i experienced multitasking in an hour and that makes me feel fulfilled already. i can't afford to let the time pass by not being productive. it's true that our body needs to recharge but let's just comply the recommended hours of sleep.

well jugsjugs sleeping is nessecery, but of course sleeping all day long is not reqired since that is shorly a wast of valuble time. However, in order to have the energy for a day, your body needs to rest and that is why we sleep. Yesterday, after five days of fulltime offline work, I was so tired that I just had to lie down and sleep. My eyes could not stay open and the minute my head lay on the pillow I fell a sleep. I guess, some online business did some to, since I a couple of the nights between working days stayed online to long.

Sometimes people tend to sleep all day and wake up at night, and once I was like that too. But as I'm grow up, I changed my habit. I like to wake up early in the morning and start doing everything at the morning because usually starting from noon, I already begin to lose my energy and less energetic compare to morning. At morning, I can do many work fast. I'm also a person who can sleep a lot and I do think it wasteful, but I cannot help it. I don't why even I eat a little food, I can feel sleepy easily.

I think it depends on the situation. I am 23 and I when I was working part-time I would go to sleep arond 3 or 4 in the morning and not wake up until noon time and not do anything until I have to get ready for work at 3. So by the time I finished work I would think to myself what did I actually do today? I think it is a good thing to keep busy because when you get older you won't have the mobility like when your younger. I hear people complaining that they got 4 or 5 hours of sleep and want more. It is always good to sleep but think about it when you get 50 and start going to beb at 8pm your missing out on a whole lot.

For me, we cannot just say that sleeping is a waste of time. We all need to sleep to recharge our body and make some rest. For those with regular shift work, they sleep at night but for those working during the night shift, they sleep during the day. And that is okay. What we can say waste of time if the person does nothing anymore but to sleep. :) This can also be attributed for being lazy.

Nope. To me, we need to sleep a certain number of ours to regenerate our body so that we'd feel refreshed the next day. Good sleep also enables us to concentrate on our work better. On the contrary, oversleeping is a no-no. It is definitely a waste of time if you sleep at 10PM and wake up only at 12noon just because it's a weekend!! I know of people who do this. We need about 7-8 hours of sleep - that's more than sufficient to some. There's also a possibility of sleeping only 5 hours, yet not feeling tired the next morning. Anything longer than 7-8 hours would not help your body; then it becomes a waste of time. You could've used the extra hours spent on sleeping to do some other chores.

yes i really agree with you that your friends are missing the day a lot.i spent eight hours for sleeping but the researchers said that the people who sleep more than eight hours are more active than the people who sleep less than eight hours and also they mention if they sleep less than six hours means that some problem will arise to that person.so sleep more than six hours its keep you well...

I think sleeping is not a waste of time. It relaxes your tired muscles for another work or activity in the morning.

I wouldnt say that sleeping is actually a waste of time, I would just say that it is over rated. You can get your body used to sleeping a certain amount of time and that way you dont waste your entire day sleeping. Right now I have my body trained to sleep between 6-8 hours a night. By getting your body used to doing that you can make the most out of your time.

Obviously sleep is something everyone needs, but I feel it is a waste of time myself. I would much rather be doing something else, to be honest! :) That's why getting myself to fall asleep at night hardly ever goes over well. I'm thinking about tons of other things I'd rather be doing than catching up on sleep. Of course, once I sleep it's hard to get me to wake up, but then I always feel bad for oversleeping! :)
