Whether you believe or not I do believe in ghost. I have this bad experience way back 2 years ago that until now the effect is very scary. I am 27years old not and I hate the fact after my ghost experience I cant sleep alone in my house whether it is night or daytime.
I experienced the ghost holding my feet and wherever place I went I can still feel his force. It scares me a lot in fact while answering this post I feel certain goosebumps all over my body.
I just hope and prar that sooner I will find solutions to overcome this ghost fear.

the problem u face is that instead of you controlling your fear , fear is controlling you.This is common in many people and i know many feared to go out alone in dark.Actually me too was extremely afraid of ghosts and such things till a few years back. it is actually human nature to fear. To control your fear you have first believe in god, in what ever religion you believe in. Then understand that the fear is a state of mind that is created by your mind itself.when ever you think fear is coming to over come the come the control your mind think that you are not alone and thing that god is there to help you always. AS the saying idle mind is devils workshop always think good especially when you are in a fearful situation. Understand that you have to fear only humans particularly yourself.

Believing in God doesn't mean you should believe every thing that are fabricated.. Ghosts was a concept developed by robbers to prevent people from getting up from their bed at nights..Later on the books stories, movies just amplified the idea..Its just about negative energies creating HALLUCINATIONs.

Since I am not all convinced by religion, I do believe that it is possible that when we die our spirit can still walk to earth. As for it being visible I have never seen one. I sometimes get that funny feeling or a sort of chill like someones with me but maybe I am just crazy.

I don't know if I really believe in ghosts; but I do believe sometimes a person's soul/spirit or a part of it stays behind. Whether there is a desire or need that part of a person's being feels that it needs to be a constant part of that particular "site". I hope I explained that okay. I also, believe that only some people can "feel" these "spirits".

I think ghost are things which are created to make people scared to do some things like going out in the dark or some houses just for some selfish interests. Or it must have originated from the genuine human fear. Humans always had fears and some noises or images they see which cannot be explained by their knowledge and which was fearful was thought to be ghosts.This fear in humans was then exploited by the authors and writers to create many many ghost stories and fictions.Personally i don't believe in ghosts.
But this is not the case with devils or daemons. Because as god is a representation of good daemons and devils are said to be the representation of bad deeds and things

I do believe in ghosts as I have seen some and been visited by others that I did not see but I saw the mess they left behind to show me they were there 
I'm not sure I understand why your parents would have told you ghost stories when they wanted you to go to sleep though. I think those types of stories would keep most kids awake

I pretend that I'm sleeping so they'll stop telling stories. Seems to work.
I believe in the spirits.I ever saw with my eyes when i was young. Since that day i would believe the ghosts stories.
