Reality shows on TV- How real are they

I keep wondering about the reality shows on TV. Half of the things shown on the shows are made up. The loud reactions from the judges and fighting among them, over the top reaction from contestants, the emotional outbusts all seems to be fake. It seems that most of them are done for the sake of publicity. I am not saying that all are the same but in my opinion most of them are. I have not seen the really talented people win. Sometimes the most talented people are left behind and the persons you least expect are the winners. I feel disgusted to see how in some shows people put their head inside a jar of water full of dangerous insects and other reptiles. That too the person who stays the longest wins. And the laughter challange shows on TV. They are simply pathetic. Sometimes I feel like crying seeing these shows. What irritates me most is the reaction of the judges. Even if they hear the worst joke of the lot they will react in such a way as if that was the best joke in the whole world. Maybe I am reacting too much but what about you people. What do you think?

What isn't scripted is edited! I am sure they make sure they get the "good stuff" when they edit shows like that.
No, I don't think you are reacting to much.. I often think the same thing.. I don't watch many - just Survivor and the ones on FoodNetwork...Next Design Star and Next Food Network star - those are only able to handle so much editing of the good stuff...as they have to show what they do for each challenge.
I think there are just to many of them out these days. They are all trying to top each other to the point that they are just getting stupid.

those reality tv. shows are scripted. it is just a big "acting" show. the producers have to input some made up humor to entertain the audience.
i personally do not watch theme merely for this fact. and frankly, its not even funny. have you seen the new show wipeout? firstly, its a rip off of the japanese shows. secondly, most of the people ont he show is fat and doesnt even put in some effort.

yeah, most of them are not real or some things were set up to make more fuzz there... i can tell a bad actor when i see one, these showes are loaded with these actors...

I am not a fan of reality TV show because I don't think they are real. They know that there's camera following and recording their every words and actions then they start to be somebody they are not. Even though if it is a reality TV with hidden cameras they are still not so real because they already know.
Sometimes I don't like to see how the contestants talk behind other's back how they loathe each other, and say the other way around when they are together. That is pathetic.
Reality talent show is sometimes not fair. The highest vote goes to those who likes to create dramas and nonsenses. But then again, reality shows always got the highest rating based on audience. Anyway, they are sometimes fun to watch, huhuhu...

I think most of them are scripted. The thing that only matter is the ratings.
