I clip pictures from magazines for my background paper before I throw them away. I have found may interesting pictures for different scrapbooking ideas. I do like going to hobby stores and finding ones on the clearance rack but feel doing scrapbooks from scratch or creating my stickers, etc. is creative fun? What do you do to frugal at scrapbooking?

karissa, that's a great idea! i've never thought of it. i haven't bought anything new in a long tme cuz of the budget crunch and this and the napkins are great ideas. I have used scenic photos as a background, that one turned out really nice. My kids even like to scrapbook, I always get double prints so they can do their pages too. now we'll have some new ideas to play with.

Thanks for your response, sorry it took me a while to respond. Yes, I thought Psycotaz206's idea on the napkins was a great idea too. I have not been scrapbooking too long but enjoy it. I understand the money crunch, as most of us are. But scrapbooking is a very expensive hobby and cutting pics, backgrounds off calendars, magazines and such is a great way to save money. Some pics that I have cut I have not used, but you never know, I may do a scrapbook one day and use it. Have a good one.

I have been out of the loop on mylot and I wanted to thank you for responding. I am like you, when scrapbooks are on sale, I go grab one or two. Last weekend, and they may still be on sale, but they had all scrapbooks 40% off. I found one last weekend, but I got there too late for a good selection, but that is okay. I found one that was going to work perfectly for my genealogy. I started working on that last weekend. Most genealogy researchers want to type a book and sell it, okay, but I prefer to scrapbook it and share with my family. Considering there are 2 + 2, looks like I will need 3 more scrapbooks. LOL

Some of the things that I do is when I am on a picnic or at an outing with my family I will gather leaves that look beautiful or flowers. Once I used puzzle pieces from one that is missing pieces to make a little border on some pictures. I do buy things on the clearance rack and I save all of my scraps and use them for other things. It helps save money and helps limit the trash.

I do not do scrapbooking. I was interested in creating my own a few years go but haven't since been interested. My mother is into scrapbooking and has a lot of different pieces of scrapbooking paper. She bought all of these things. She also has other things for scrapbooking. While I do understand this is fun, I think that being frugal about it is the best way to go. A lot of different magazines have beautiful pictures that can be used, or even just cut out, glued together etc...

Thank you for your response. I also cut old calendars, if they have good pictues on them. I get so many calendars at work from different vendors but I hit the jackpot this year. I also like when these magazines have large enough letters to clip too. I understand about the interest in scrapbooking, I was the same way. I have only done one and that has been recently when my mother and I took a vacation together this year. Have a good day.

I bet the pictures from the calendar's are very nice, and probably thick enough to not worry about it crinkling! Thomas Kinkade has beautiful pictures, and while his calendars are very big, if you have a big enough scrapbook you can set the picture the right way! I'm imagining the way it would look, with a background from Thomas Kinkade. A few words or pictures, enough to show the background image as well! lol! I am not a very creative person, but I do have my moments.

That's a creative and very frugal idea!! I have never thought of it before...awesome, thanks for sharing. I bought a great big box of 12x12 paper (holiday) on clearance at JoAnn Fabrics a few years ago, and I still have a lot of it left.
